The Southern PrinceChapter 3

Editors: MaryJ and Zinan

The Pallavas were assigned  the Peony palace. There, General Dandi, Simha and Viramalla were escorted to their respective courtyards separately. Dandi was taken to the Orchid courtyard, Simha to the Apricot courtyard and Viramalla being escorted to the Chrysanthemum courtyard. They were told to rest for a couple of days before meeting the Emperor during the morning court. MyUGVE

As Dandi entered the courtyard, he was greeted with a blast of sweet and relaxing scents being excreted by the surrounding orchids. The orchids resembled a larger version of lily and they appeared in the most vivid colours. The pavilion had a tranquil atmosphere. Everyone couldn’t help but relax in the calming atmosphere. Dandi had his personal servants prepare a bath for him. After finishing his bath and drying off, Dandi assigned work to his servants. He divided his soldiers into three groups, two thirds assigned with the task of protecting the princes and the remaining third assigned with the role to remain with the general. Similarly, the servants were also divided and sent out but before he sent them out, he had them clean up the room where he soon dozed off.

Over at Simha’s courtyard, the first thing he did was to look around  everywhere. Good-looking, compact, bushy and heat loving. The apricot courtyard was a stunning Yarrow with its masses of long-lasting flower clusters in various shades of pink, from palest apricot to near red. It was pleasantly aromatic and complemented the cheerful dusty-pink flat umbel flowers. He felt refreshed both in his mind and body seeing the scenery. After exploring for a bit more, he proceeded in giving his servants orders to clean up the pavilion as well as to prepare a bath for him. He then ordered them to unpack his belongings and made sure that they kept food ready for him when he woke up after his nap. Just as he was thinking about what other orders to give, a thought crossed his mind which caused him to leave for his eldest brother’s courtyard.

Chrysanthemum courtyard was isolated by a high grey flannel fog which gave the place a warm and peaceful atmosphere, lending comfort to the travel-worn people. The fresh chrysanthemum still laced with morning dew resembled sunshine despite the winter and a slight southwestern breeze suggested rain despite the heavy fog. In rich shades of russet, purple, deep red, soft pink or glowing gold, the flowers of garden mums offered a glorious complement to the bounty of the harvest and the vivid foliage of fall. Viramalla loved the climate as it brought him a comfy feeling of home despite being away from it.

“Your Highness, you must be very tired. I’ll have a couple of people clean up the place again for you and then we’ll start unpacking. You should go to rest after your bath. Let us do the chores.” n68x2C

“No need Langa. Just have someone draw a bath for me. I want to be left alone.”

“But Your Highness—”

“Leave.”

Langa knew that the real reason the prince wanted everyone to leave was out of concern for them. The prince knew that sea travel had worn everyone out so he wanted everyone to get a little rest. But when asked, he would just say that he wanted to be left alone.

Viramalla was dead tired. While traveling, he had developed sea sickness yet didn’t get time to completely rest. He was learning about China and he  had to take care of his brother too. It was his brother’s first time traveling far away from home. He was sent with him to gain experience.

Simha  suffered from sea sickness as well and would ask for him every day to complain about the trip. Clearly his brother was still young and ignorant. Viramalla sighed and went to take a bath. He soaked in the warm water for a while. The heat helped his blood circulate better and also helped relax his sore and stiff muscles, which had been worn out due to travel.

After his bath, he changed into a simple, comfortable robe. It was  just as he was about to sleep when his younger brother came in. Simha studied his eldest brother’s courtyard carefully. He was only satisfied after seeing that Viramalla’s courtyard was less impressive than  his own. Simha quickly hid the jealous gleam within his eyes and put on a concerned expression. But Viramalla already knew his thoughts and just sighed at his brother’s naivety. rZsP6D

“Elder brother, I came to check on you. You seemed a little sick on the ship. Are you feeling better now? You should take rest and not think about other things. Although I’m still recuperating from my illness, I can still help my brother with trivial things. I shall start sorting out the things we are to give to the Emperor.”

In actuality, Simha didn’t have any seasickness. He was just so bored from the long journey that he decided to constantly bother his elder brother on the ship. But the problem was that his elder brother always ignored him. He was either sleeping or just reading. Even when he came to visit him he would just have the physician bring him medicine and get him to sleep. His brother was always too lazy to care about others. He just couldn’t comprehend his father’s mind. His father always told him that he was his precious treasure. If that were the case, then why did his father bestow the title of ‘crown prince’ to his cold and never-caring brother?

But Simha would never admit that the reason his brother left quickly when he visited him was due to his concern for his health. Viramalla suffered greatly from seasickness. He thought his brother was also suffering and greatly empathized with him. So he always had the physician take good care of his younger brother.

“Second brother should go and rest instead of running around. Leave.” Viramalla wanted his brother to have ample rest as he had just recovered from his sickness. Have him work as soon as they arrived? Are you joking? But what his younger brother said was also true. He needs to sort out the things before resting. Everyone was depending on him and he couldn’t be too lazy. Sq4dzd

“But brother-” Before Simha could say anything, Viramalla ordered in a cold voice. “Leave.”

Simha was too mad to continue and so he left. His eldest brother was always like this. He’s never appreciated others. He’d even sacrificed his rest to help him but he was ordered to leave. Hmph! Why would anyone even want him as a crown prince? Imbeciles!!

After his brother left, Viramalla went to his desk to make tea. He didn’t want to disturb others’ rest so he did it himself. He gently brewed his tea, sniffing the aroma as he slowly took a sip.. The tea seemed to relieve his headache a bit. He started unpacking his belongings. He then went on to sort out the things they had prepared for the Emperor.

Since he was doing this all alone, he took quite a while and so by the time he completed all his tasks, it was already night time. He hadn’t consumed anything in the afternoon except for the tea. He felt a bit famished. Just as he was about to head to the kitchen, Langa entered the room with a silver tray full of steaming food. JcDv2u

After Langa entered the room, he was shocked.

“Your Highness, why didn’t rest? We would have unpacked everything. Oh my god, you didn’t get the shuteye you needed for even a little while?”

“Thank you for the food. You can leave now.” Viramalla was dead tired. He didn’t want anyone to look at him right now. Langa could only sigh and leave the food on the table.

Viramalla ate the food, took a comfortable bath and finally went to bed. iQleq0

  1. That Simha is disgusting. How obnoxious he is!!! I hope Viramalla can rest a little and not be disturbed again that night.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  2. Let our boy rest!! He’s tired too, sheesh!

Why would that little jerk pretend to be seasick? Ugh.

    Thanks for the chapter <3

  3. Aaahh!! Waiting for the ml to appear!!

And the 2nd brother is really selfish…and he doesn’t even have enough mental capacity to know that the position of crown prince is soo tiring and that his brother really loves him.Right, what an imbecile. And maybe he will be even more jealous when the ml starts pursuing our mc???… ooh, waiting for the face slapping.

  4. Thanks for the chapter! Yeah, despite what novel might brainwash you to think, being self sacrificing & not complaining isn’t worth a da**, it only bring heartaches & predators stealing from your hand. Be strong for yourself before you can help others who are worthy of that help. Everyone else will use you then throw you.
