Translator's Note

There are five pentatonic notes (Wu Yin/五音) in Chinese music. They are known Gong 宮, Shang 商, Jue 角, Zhi 徵and Yu 羽 and are equivalent of do, re, mi, so and la in the western musical scale. Gong Wei could only hit three of the five notes so XST named him by the notes he could hit. It was meant to be a joke.

  4. I choked at the “castrated yourself” line I just. These immortals hold nothing back, when they want to be petty they are petty ahaha, even better because Xu Shuangtze unknowingly was going to say “sure, believe that” I cry. Gong Wei realizing his body is the perfect host for…his own soul….which is already in it…the sheer irony of this whole line of logic has me weeping, incredible. Is this really a piece of Gong Wei’s shattered soul, though? It seems pretty driven to return, which Gong Wei…does not. And having touched Xu Shuangtze it gained a voice? Is this some kind of fragment of obsession? There’s also a part of me that wonders if this has anything to do with what made Gong Wei register as having killing intent back then, and say the lines he said…his hatred really does not seem strong enough to support that he was the only one in charge of his actions

  9. I am always more confused with every new chapter. So many theories and questions and so very few answers, it’s almost depressing, ngl.

    I think I’ll need a summary at the end of the book (or this arc, or just whenever XST discovers his identity and they deal with the fallout) to get GW’s story straight and finally know just wtf is going on 😓

    • It is pretty confusing at this point, yes. I think we’re all hoping the author doesn’t introduce any more threads or at least clears some things up… We’ll try out best to clarify stuff in notes where possible. ☺
