The Emperor’s Favorite Imperial Concubine is an OCh49.1 - Touching The Dragon’s Horn (1)

Mu Zhan’s emotions were very much mixed and subtle. 1KhpuA

There was shock, uncertainty, disorientation, panic, irritation…and a strange hint of elation.

This is Wen Mingyu’s child. Would the baby resemble a miniature replica of Wen Mingyu, carved in pink and jade, with a white face and soft baby fat later on? It was a sight both familiar and foreign.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Mu Zhan’s hand rested on Wen Mingyu’s belly for quite a while. He didn’t take his hand back. As he felt two more fetal movements, the inevitability slowly took shape, forming the image that he and Wen Mingyu would have a baby.

Because of all he had gone through in his past, he had never imagined having children and had no desires whatsoever. He had exhausted all of his affection for his parents in the mounting disappointment day by day, not having known the affection of a father and a mother. He therefore had no idea what it would be like to have children of his own, or what it would be like to be a father. If he had one, the child would resent him in the same way he initially loathed his own parents. oKg 3T

And now that a baby had suddenly arrived, there was just something different. It turned out that fetal movement was like this, and new life was like this… If this baby resembled Wen Mingyu, he wouldn’t seem so resistant again.

It would have been even better if the other half of the baby’s blood had come from him.

As soon as Mu Zhan had this notion, he instantly repressed it in his heart. This baby was his. There were no ifs.

Since they had just learned about his pregnancy, both of them were first-time fathers who knew nothing and were very clueless as to what should be done.

For a moment, it appeared as if a great change had taken root and as if nothing had changed at all.

After feeling the fetal movement, the two stared at each other for a time and came to their senses.

Despite his youth and lack of romantic history, Mu Zhan was the emperor and had experience dealing with different state matters. Comparatively, he recovered from such occurrences first and did so with a cool, collected expression. However, whether this was truly the case in his head, only he knew.

“This one has given the imperial physician full authority to oversee your care. From now on, exercise extra caution. This one must be called once you feel discomfort, or the imperial physician. Don’t be afraid. There is no need to panic greatly.” kDPbAZ

His words soon relieved Wen Mingyu’s listless feelings, and he stopped being worried.

He was excused from his afternoon class, so he didn’t go to Imperial College.

He was free to do anything he pleased, including continue to sleep, according to Mu Zhan.

Wen Mingyu had recently slept for a while and was still drowsy, but instead of resting right away, he asked him. “Is Your Majesty going to work?” v73I0F

Wen Mingyu opened his eyes. He dressed and entered the Imperial Study.

Mu Zhan continued to read the booklets while he completed his homework.

Wen Mingyu’s physical state had only slightly changed by this point.

The palace servant brought in some light-tasting, small and delicate snacks. It was the egg yolk puff Wen Mingu loved, but for some reason, the moment he caught the smell of it, he scowled in disgust. tUN8RF

There followed a dry heave.

The hall was plunged into an unusual silence.

The servant was taken aback, while Mu Zhan threw down the booklet at the first opportunity. Furrowing his brows, he instructed, “Go and bring some tart fruits.”

Even though the palace servant was baffled, she followed the instructions on reflex right away. She was going to retreat when Mu Zhan added, “Bring all the things that can stop morning sickness as well.” JOTb4e

The servant frantically replied, and as she left the hall, she ran, then staggered a little on the way, too shocked in her heart. Wen-gongzi, are you expecting?! Will there be a running little prince or princess in the palace soon?!

Because the harem was deserted, they had never given it any thought. The only person to join the harem was Wen-gongzi, and His Majesty treated him quite differently, even changing his temperament somewhat.

They were accustomed to living without worry and dread these days; none of them desired to return to the old days. They all wished beyond hope that Wen-gongzi would remain in favor. But after all, he was a man. They feared that one day His Majesty would expand the imperial harem in order to produce an heir, causing the Imperial Palace to revert to its former state.

Now, however, what did the servant just hear? Wen-gongzi was pregnant, so he would have a firm position, and the child would serve as a good bridge between him and the emperor. wjmEba

This kind-hearted master was well-liked by the palace populace, and none of them desired for him to lose favor and be banished to the cold palace or perhaps sentenced to death. But little did they know that this had been thoroughly overanalyzed. Wen Mingyu didn’t need them to worry greatly. After all, who would have expected that the emperor, knowing that Wen Mingyu was pregnant and that the baby was not his own, would be willing to embrace and recognize the baby as his.

Who would dare believe something so absurd. This idea was more ludicrous than learning that a man could get pregnant.

The lady servant brought over a number of items, all of which varied and were used for the past’s imperial harem concubines’ morning sickness.

Wen Mingyu, however, prioritized eating. 0zBsXr

A spherical, appetizing fruit with a beautiful green color that was extremely acidic. Mu Zhan had once consumed one by accident. Because it was so bitter, he began to doubt his life afterward. His teeth were so soft that he felt like they had fallen out.

But Wen Mingyu had no trouble eating. With two arched eyes and a distinct, crisp sound from each bite, he showed that he was certainly enjoying it.

Mu Zhan watched, feeling a little toothless.

Placing his hand on the corner of his forehead, he turned around with a poker face and looked down again at the booklets. vQfbRV

The time passed so quickly, and half a day seemed to fly by.

Given that the pregnancy was stable and at full term, according to the imperial physician, it was advised to carry on as usual, pay attention to nutrition, and avoid strenuous exercise, as well as to remain calm and not become overly upset, as this may affect the development of the fetus.

Wen Mingyu returned to class at Imperial College the following day.

When he arrived at the classroom, his classmates crowded around him, worried about how ill he had been. Wen Mingyu grinned and came up with an excuse. In the end, telling the truth was impossible, and if he did, no one would likely believe him. 9xTnNf

Many of his classmates studied his face, which was indeed rosy and refreshed. They stopped asking questions and instead said that they would reimburse him for paying the bill in secret yesterday.

“We are all fellow students,” Wen Mingyu continued, “and we will be around each other’s company for years to come, so just treat each other next time.”

It seemed to be the case, the youngsters thought, and thus they stopped insisting.

Little did they know that Wen Mingyu was actually Yu Mu and that the proceeds from the sales of his book served as the source of the treat’s money. In a sense, the wool came off the sheep’s back. V530mk

In between lectures, the youngsters eagerly assisted Wen Mingyu in making up for the lectures he missed yesterday afternoon by explaining them to him. But as they spoke, they quarreled, each with their own viewpoint, and debated to the death

On the side, Wei Chen couldn’t help himself and came over. Among the already restless and erect youngsters, a small child could only stand to around stomach height. It was too tragic of a gap.

Wen Chen was annoyed by this too, as he looked up at everyone, but that didn’t hinder him from assuming he was the smartest person in the room. Looking up had never made him a grade lower than others, either.

With a straight face, he said, “Neither of you can do it—I’ll do it.” f9JNEc

How could a man accept being told he can’t do it. They swung around and made an effort to establish themselves. However, looking at the little one before them, the feeling of bullying a kid overtook them, and they were unable to act on it. The comparison could, of course, only be made in terms of academic study.

Despite the fact that all eyes were on Wei Chen, he didn’t flinch as he imparted yesterday’s lecture to Wen Mingyu in a clear, assured, and composed manner, much like a little instructor.

The youngsters were squarely defeated on the face. They were resigned yet impressed, and they wanted to say a few words when the bell rang, signaling the end of break.

They could only recline at their writing desk. Someone was so disheartened that when they walked past, they unintentionally ran into Wen Mingyu. They quickly reacted and apologized, while Wen Mingyu said it was fine. gCkFIO

But when everyone had dispersed, Wen Mingyu remained slightly hunched down, his expression very strange. He had just bumped into the writing desk, and that unmentionable spot was swollen and painful; it was very awkward.

Wen Mingyu made himself focus on the lecture during class and ignored that. It did start to work somewhat slowly, but as soon as he was distracted, it was once again obvious.

Red ears.

Although Ye Xu was curious about everything, he wasn’t in the mood to pay attention to the lecture. When he turned his head, he noticed that something was wrong after observing Wen Mingyu. He asked, “Why are your ears so red? Is the smoked cage too warm?” KPHzJ9

Wen Mingyu’s ears turned redder at this, making him feel embarrassed. After stating that everything was alright, he quickly added something else to get his attention off of his ears.

During the break in class, he went to the clean room and peered down into his open lapels. Then, it seemed as if he saw two tiny cherries, with the skin around them turning a pale pink. With just one glance, he promptly brought his lapels together, daring not to look any more and taking care not to scuff the fabric.

At the end of the day’s lectures, Wen Mingyu headed back to Taiji Hall immediately.

He didn’t feel at ease until he curled up in the nest he had constructed out of Mu Zhan’s clothes. Half-squinting, he let out a long sigh of comfort. 1PFQ0K

He certainly hadn’t forgotten that awkward situation. In his mind, he was unable to understand it. Was this a normal part of being pregnant? In his physiology classes, it did seem like it was briefly discussed? He was masquerading as a Beta, though, and a dedicated staff was assigned to care for the rare Omegas. Naturally, his teacher did not address too much about the physiology of an Omega and instead just skipped over it. So it’s a little bit unclear now.

Wen Minyu was a little restless. As he tenderly rubbed his belly, rabbit ears popped out atop his head and dangled softly close to his cheeks. Once more unable to resist, he started to tug at the fur one by one. As though snowflakes had descended, the delicate strands of snow-white fur fell into the heap of clothing. It created a modest snow drift over time.

When Mu Zhan returned, he saw this scene.

ChiFu: Everyone is so active in the comments! It made me very happy, fufu. All will be answered shortly, so please wait~ Y4zcQr

I kind of accepted that my necklace was gone. Sigh. I recently watched my childhood movie, Mr. Vampire! The humor is still within me, as I found myself laughing at the silliness. XD I especially love the one with the kid; I find him very cute even now!

  1. Not gonna lie, if it’s a false pregnancy (I know that there are times that people do FEEL something but turns out it’s nothing 🙁 ) I feel bad for our dear Wen Minyu. And Mu Zhan is probably gonna be disappointed (at least a bit) but sadly until they do the deed, no baby. But I do love their interactions ❤~!

      • Maybe tiny muscle spasms or something? It happened to me after the birth of my first child. Even though I had decided to give him up, and even chose his new parents early on, I felt him moving for several weeks afterwards like my body was ignoring the facts.

  2. Sometimes I really like watch something a little silly

Thank you for your translation 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

  3. I am so impressed with the depth of Mu Zhan’s affection for Wen Mingyu, to the point of not harming him out of jealousy. These two 😍
