Transmigrating into a Cannon Fodder Fulfilled All My WishesCh15 - Heaven’s Official Testing

After passing through the glittering gates, his first step was nothing special. Two steps in, though, was like a swipe of a foggy window. It revealed a whole new world.

The library itself resembled a huge ancient palace, towering beams holding up the roof tops, a pagoda made of dreams for any bibliophile. All of the infinite number of floors were packed to the brim with books and scrolls. iOJmw7

There was actually an unfixed amount of floors in reality, the library itself was something that existed since ancient times. The sect had been built carefully around such ancient structures, like the demon-sealing pagoda and this pagoda of timeless scrolls.

In fact, the higher your cultivation, and the stronger your resonance with the structure, the more and more floors of the pagoda you could access. The current top floor known to man was floor 52, which had been entered by the first sect master, and creator, of the Righteous Starfall Sect.

A top level array was in place in the hall, set by the first sect master’s dao companion while in a fit of worry. No matter how high one would ascend along the floors, the only way out was by channelling one’s qi into the sect token, which’d bring you back to the ground floor.

As such, the single exit in the entire infinity paradox was the same as the entrance. aEfNw1

Meng Yixuan was currently walking in from said exit.

From his first glance around, he spotted very few occupants and came to wonder if he was really at the right place. Surely if a highly important battle were taking place soon, people would want to get some last-minute revision in.

He wasn’t wrong at all, he just hadn’t realised that he was the only one who needed to learn instead of improve. A noob mistake.

The only other person nearby was a boobed cultivator with auburn hair.

She had good vibes. Sort of like how anyone who’s trusted by animals can’t be too bad.

And she had a very distinct secondary canine smell to her. Additionally, Xinxin seemed to like her. All in all, she was okay in his books.

But that was going off topic. Of the three people in the hall, the only other one was the librarian who seemed to have no presence at all.

Meng Yixuan ignored them. He wholeheartedly believed that anybody who was somebody in these xianxia settings would have their pretty power maxed out. xoNJMb

Meng Yixuan scoured up and down, left to right and right to left, looking for a method that he could learn quickly enough so he had at least half a grasp by the time the matches were here.

Every single one was at most a pre-human level sword scroll, all of which probably needed to be practiced hundreds upon thousands of times before his desired half a grasp.

All in all, no good at all for his current situation. And he was stuck on the ground to boot.

He had a clear recollection of how to get up but he had no idea where his sect token was, so he had no way to ascend the floors. RQLsiq

And there was no doubt in his mind that he’d find exactly what he was looking for on the higher levels.

With dejection is his spirit, he continued to roam the floor he was on.

A soft glow from one of the scrolls startled him. Wait. That was odd. He’d clearly walked these same rows tons of times but this was the first time he’d come across this one.

He glanced back to look at the red-haired shijie and the librarian, only to find that they were still there. Clearly nothing was going wrong here, so maybe he just missed it the first time. rHqfoW

He turned back to the subtly glowing scroll only to find that it was now much brighter, and the glowing was somehow even stronger than that of the luminescent orbs used to light up the hall.

He squinted at the light and tried to turn away. However, he found that he couldn’t. He tried to slowly retreat as he realised the hypnotic effects of the scroll, but he still couldn’t.

Instead, he started to hear a subtly droll and enchanting voice that echoed in his mind.

It called him, inciting him to step closer, to approach. The curious drag to the voice succeeded in putting him in a semi-conscious state as he took a step towards the scroll, and another, and another, slow and steady. QzXTo3

Just as he was one step away, he faltered. Mid step, he stopped. Then he took a step back. The hazy look in eyes cleared and the hypnosis broke. He shuffled back some more, putting enough space between himself and the scroll.

What was that, he wondered as he continued to scoot away.

Having regained a clear mind, he passed the test. The now-dull scroll that had just drawn him in now dislodged itself from the shelf and flew towards him instead.

Meng Yixuan saw it all happen in slow motion and faltered. Instinct led him to hold his arm out before him, hands open like a lego human. L kcRt

The scroll landed snugly in his awaiting hands.

Meng Yixuan opened the scroll after making sure there was no discourse in his qi.

Apparently, this was a basic sword scroll as well. Also pre-human level so that whole glowing eerie montage thing from just moments ago existed for no reason other than the universe’s way to mess with him.

Then, the lost light glared again, nearly blinding him a second time. The ink all burned and changed to reveal something new. The new words displayed were all in foreign script but he could still understand it all somehow. MpdltE

It was something like a mix of the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and traditional Chinese script, with some Greek and Arabic thrown in. All in all, completely illegible.

The previous pre-human sword scroll morphed into an heaven-level method titled ‘Ancient Flora Art: Divinity’.

The scroll looked like it had a lot on it but when he opened it, only a few paragraphs of the scroll could be seen. And he couldn’t open it any further, so that must’ve been it.

It was not only a waste of space to have such little writing but probably a waste of money to whoever bought all that paper just to write a puny amount. sLTemV

The frugal Meng Yixuan deep in his heart cried without tears at the thought.

The fact that he’d obtained a heaven-level scroll only dawned on him moments later when the previously near non-existent librarian approached him, with a face akin to an immortal.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Skin smooth as jade; hair soft as a young kitten’s fur; eyes dark as night, like a painting’s, that could directly peer into your soul.

And this heaven blessed beauty, that still could never match up to the God that was Huli Bao’s, approached him with a stoic expression. AmpkIn
