The Black Saint is My StalkerCh146 - How he longed to eat

Edited by dreamandwonder

Jayden had no hope. kqyOEu

In his picturesque two-story house, the man sat alone, uneaten instant noodles occupied a spot on his desk, and his stomach roared with hunger.

He had no appetite. Jayden was a picky eater but Magnolia wasn’t around to shove food down his throat. Beneath the instant noodles were a splay of notes that Jayden was way too exhausted to make any sense of.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

It was morning and he hadn’t managed to get even a wink of sleep.

With a frustrated grunt, the man ran his hand over his head and drew in a long breath. Atop the entire mess was a small journal with a list of phone numbers, except now it only looked like a messy blur in front of his eyes. dCD4YA

Jayden had already exhausted all his contacts, at least twice.

He, being vaguely related to wolf families in his locale, was extremely familiar with the kind of treatment that supernatural beings received in the country. But the way that the officials dodged any questions he had on any of the disappearances almost sounded staged. Prepared.

As though there was a cover-up taking place.

The Saint of Eternity’s voice echoed in his memories: “…try to go through legal channels.”

Jayden instantly scowled his mind ablaze with irritation and annoyance. He was just about to call Saint Graham too but decided against it. A surge of adrenaline came through and Jayden stood, uncaring if his knee knocked into his desk, causing a few pens to roll off the desk. His home office was a mess, but Jayden ignored the state of his home and instead went straight to his hunting gear.

No time was wasted and he was out the door.

Jayden had a keen feeling that he knew which organization was involved in his wife’s disappearance. And if they weren’t going to give him a straight answer, clearly, he didn’t have to approach the problem in a straight and narrow way either.

The Saint of Eternity could go fuck himself. nmkCyU

When Han Li woke, he felt indescribably numb.

He was lying atop a hard mattress. The room he occupied was nondescript; all whites and grey with nothing more than a few basic necessities. There was a mattress, a toilet, a sink with a few toiletries and that was that.

Curious.

Was he in some sort of prison?

When Han Li craned his neck, there was an uncomfortable pain around his collar. He reached and felt cold steel around his throat. 9ljSMy

Hm.

That couldn’t be good.

And yet, Han Li felt no panic. His face was entirely impassive, reflective of the void inside his head.

There was a scratching sound in his ear. Scuttling. He gulped, and frowned, feeling a gnaw in his belly, of hunger festering. Why were his thoughts all so slow? He wondered. Something was wrong, yet he had no concern. YdqisF

It was then he noticed an aroma in the area. Han Li noticed that there was a tray of food left on the ground by the door. There was something that looked like sloppy meatballs, mashed potatoes, peas, and rice.

His stomach rumbled but not for this tray of food. Whatever the reason, it seemed extremely unappetizing.

So he only sat there, listless, feeling hungry and numb. But the longer he sat, the hungrier he felt and without any emotion to occupy his mind, this ravenous hunger grew and grew…

Ugh. Dq5Xla

He scowled and cradled his head. Something was wrong. Why couldn’t he think straight? Where did all his thoughts go? His emotions.

Again, there was that scuttling between his ears, like an infestation of something chewing apart his brain matter.

Suddenly, the air changed. The lock on the door clicked, summoning Han Li’s attention. But before he could watch the door creak open, sharp pain knifed through his body, like powerful electricity passing through his throat, causing his trachea to swell.  He fell, tumbling off the bed to the floor. The world blurred and he struggled to claw the mechanism around his neck. It felt as though a needle was being pierced through his spine.

Maybe there was. Because he could feel something wet trickle down the back of his neck but Han Li couldn’t tell if it was sweat or blood. e68vKV

He gasped, heaved. A string of saliva trickled from his mouth and pooled onto the white, tiled floor.

Han Li’s entire body was terribly heavy. He could hardly pull himself up but still found enough strength despite the ravenous hunger that ate away at his guts.

“What are you two doing, just standing there!?” a female voice shrilled. Han Li looked up and saw a petite woman donned in a sterile lab coat. She snarled angrily and Han Li thought that she looked very, very delicious.

Ah, no. Humans weren’t food. He couldn’t just eat people. jxXb r

There were two, less delicious-looking people who flanked her, two stoic armed guards, one female, and one male. They jerked in reaction to her voice, as though puppeted by her command.

They came upon Han Li like a pair of dogs, pinning him down as though he were prey. Han Li didn’t resist. He felt as though he had no reason to and laid there, still. The male guard cuffed his hands in heavy, steel shackles.

“Get him up, we don’t have all day!” The female scientist huffed. “I’ve a deadline to work with here. If this demo isn’t ready then I swear…” She seemed quite content mumbling and complaining to herself. Han Li paid her no mind, allowing himself to be hauled to his feet by the two expressionless guards.

They were not dissimilar to him, completely void of expression and emotion. Except they were worse. They did not even have souls, Han Li concluded. A terrible meal, indeed. 87fVsJ

He was brought into a long hall, lined with heavy doors. It was unnotable, just like everything else. Absently, Han Li followed, without a single thought in his head. He merely listened to the echoing thrum of their footfalls as they weaved through the halls.

Eventually, they came upon another room.

This one, like the prison cell Han Li was held in, was painfully without personality, blank with white floors and white walls and white ceiling lights.

The only thing of note was the person that panted heavily at the back of the room. A woman. Her features were impossible to recognize, head lowered, blood and bruises covering her body. Her clothes were filthy and tattered but Han Li assumed they were one the same nondescript garbs that he had on. Despite her sorry state, she was shackled to the wall, keeping her immobile and still. Mu7npV

Something about her was familiar, but he couldn’t quite put a finger on it.

All Han Li knew was the fact that she smelled divine, like a heavenly platter of delicacies laid out right in front of him. The wrath rolling off her body saturated the air and made Han Li salivate.

He was so entranced by the woman that Han Li wasn’t paying any attention to the scientist, who seemed to be recording something about an experiment.

Whatever it was, it didn’t feel that important— j0HNhC

He didn’t even notice when she had left him in there with the woman and the two mysterious guards, retreating to an observation room that was separated by thick glass.

The scientist’s voice came to him through blaring speakers, “HL-434,” she said coldly. Han Li felt a sharp pain in his brain, making him flinch and look up at the speaker that so rudely summoned his attention.

He did not know how or why, but he understood that HL-434 referred to himself.

“This is a command,” the scientist continued, “Kill MJ-436, but do not eat her.” L5qW k

“…” The scuttling between his ears suddenly felt like a blistering headache. He took a step forward, closer to the woman. MJ-436, the scientist had called her.

A tired groan slipped out of her lips as she tilted her chin up. Her brows furrowed, as though in thought and again, Han Li found strange familiarity within her.

Ah, she sure smelled superb. Han Li stopped a mere arm’s length away. He took in a deep breath, drinking in the sweet aroma of her wrath, stirring his stomach.

How he longed to eat her. ysPaz9

But he could not. Humans were not food. Han Li turned his gaze toward the glass window, from where the scientist observed him with her stupid tablet and an even dumber look on her face.

“I cannot do that,” Han Li said hollowly.

The woman blinked, visibly flustered. She fiddled with a mic in her hand and bit the bottom of her lip. Again, she said, “HL-434, this is a command. Kill MJ-436 but do not eat her.”

Again, Han Li replied coldly, “I cannot do that. It’s wrong.” hHmOFe

The scientist sneered at him, glaring in frustration. Han Li thought she looked pretty tasty at that moment.

But then came that terrible pain in his spine once more and he collapsed onto his knees, the pain rendering him numb.

He could hear the woman’s voice through the speakers, though distant she was unconcerned about being heard. “Dammit! I don’t understand why it isn’t working!? The brain matter was already confirmed to be human in structure so— Ugh! It has to be due to that demon. Hey! Do any of you know where Cyrus Morgan went!?”

Somehow, the name Cyrus was familiar too. tnrjAk

There were too many familiar things that Han Li couldn’t place. And with the pain wracking his body he found himself extremely tired. So he laid down on the cold ground and closed his eyes.

Before sleep could come, a small voice, barely a whisper drifted to his ear. “You…you’re Han Li, aren’t you…?”

It was the voice of the bloodied woman.
