The Black Saint is My StalkerCh139 - It was a slow working poison

Edited by dreamandwonder

A young woman fled in the dark of night. She had bright blue eyes, suited for the low light and legs that could carry her faster and longer than humanly possible. For Sally was no human. 2CDnq8

In her owl form, she had escaped the hubbub of the city, hoping that the woods that flanked the highways and countryside were better suited as places to hide. After all, her hunter was a master of the city, so it would be her best bet to run. She flew all day, until her little wings could carry her no further, hoping that sunlight was a good enough cover for her tracks. Even a noble blood was more sluggish under sunlight.

But once night fell, she donned her human skin, because it had less of a miasmic trace compared to her bird form. Panting heavily she marched through the forest, autumn leaves and branches snapped beneath her feet.

She was exhausted.

Worked to the bone. uRfO56

She hadn’t even eaten anything for weeks. All to satisfy her Father, the same one who had abandoned her.

Gritting her teeth she continued her march but her strength soon failed. She fell to her knees, gasping as she rested her head against a nearby tree.

Too scared to use her demonic powers she could only endure in silence and hope that she wouldn’t get sniffed out so easily.

Just a little bit of rest…to regain her strengths…

Sally closed her eyes.

Han Li could not return. His anxiety was at a peak and the very thought of seeing Graham’s face made him dizzy. And when he finally pulled himself up from that damned alleyway, he thought about the people that he could contact.

Scoffing at himself, Han Li looked through his phone. But in reality, there weren’t many people he could count on. Those he trusted were numbered few and most of them led busy lives, similar to the one he himself partook in. lYGNd6

The one person he wanted to see was also the one person he didn’t want to see. Groaning miserably, Han Li wondered if maybe he should stay at a hotel instead. Be by himself—

The next thing he knew, he was already at Cyrus’s door. wfRvAT

Han Li didn’t even know how he got there. (He walked. But he couldn’t really remember the walk itself.) And suddenly he found himself face to face with a dark red door.

He took a deep breath in an attempt to steady the tremor in his hands. Han Li shook himself up and tried to seem casual and nonchalant. He inwardly practiced what he was about to say, some stupid excuse, a few disarming smiles and that should be enough to curb some of the awkwardness.

Han Li raised a fist to knock, except the door opened before he could make contact.

Cyrus’s hazel eyes went wide and the sight of him, stepping back to welcome Han Li inside. “Come in, Han Li. Please, make yourself comfortable.” Qdv1lN

With an easy smile, Cyrus made way. Han Li was momentarily stunned, having already prepared an array of answers for potential questions, he felt confused when asked none. Nodding awkwardly, he stepped inside.

The air within Cyrus’s place was fresh, sweet-smelling even. The lighting was a bit dim, curtains drawn. His abode was decorated very similarly to his office, Han Li realized. There was even one of those oil diffusers on the shelf. It seemed that Cyrus had a particular fondness for succulents and owls. It was a cute quirk, Han Li gathered.

It was only after he took off his shoes that he realized he completely forgot to say hello. Han Li cleared his throat, standing around in the living room without really knowing what to do with himself. “U-Um thanks for letting me stay unannounced and all. I had some things come up and I-I— yeah I don’t know. I didn’t really feel like going home because— erm.”

“Please sit down,” Cyrus chuckled lightly, his expression caught between amusement and concern. “I’ll get you some water.” YlLSyQ

“…Right.” Han Li plopped himself onto the couch. The anxiety made his leg twitch but he willed it to calm down, not wanting to seem like an insane person in someone else’s home. It was bad enough that small flares of miasma continued to radiate off of him. But at least Cyrus was aware of Han Li’s ailment, for he had the license and expertise to deal with supernatural beings.

Cyrus did not rush, pouring two glasses of water before joining Han Li on the couch, his expression amicable and easy. “You don’t need to explain everything if you’re not ready to, Han Li,” he hummed. “Did something happen at home?”

Han Li winced at the word ‘home’ but he masked his panic with an awkward laugh, accepting the cup of water. “I guess…you could say that.” Was it a breakup? Could there be a breakup if there wasn’t a relationship in the first place? Han Li felt ridiculous.

Cyrus smiled in understanding, his patience immaculate. “So the Saint of Eternity. Did he do anything untoward?” TxcYGO

“He— it—“ Han Li’s eyes went wide at the sudden mention of him. He shook his head vigorously, his grip tightening around the cup in his hands. “No. Not at all… He didn’t do anything wrong.” Han Li cringed, recalling his enraged blabbering. He prayed that Graham didn’t hate him too much. “I was the one being a dick. I don’t know.”

“Please slow down.” Cyrus reached and placed his palm over Han Li’s thigh. Despite the sweatpants that he wore, Han Li could feel warmth radiating from the touch. “What did I say about self-depreciation like that? Can you explain the situation clearly to me? I understand that you had some special arrangements with the Saint of Eternity.”

“…” Han Li swallowed and nodded. All the emotions that he kept carefully bottled up in the past few years were right at the base of his tongue. But where could he start? He didn’t even know how to explain the entire story to Cyrus.

But Cyrus was ever patient and didn’t push. Han Li appreciated the man’s professionalism immensely. It gave him the bravery that he needed. The bravery he needed to be vulnerable. dhfL1F

Han Li took a deep breath and said, “I— I’m in love with him.”

This was something that Han Li knew, he knew for a long time. But strangely, this was the first time that he uttered those words out loud. A tingling feeling traveled down to the tips of his fingers and his mind turned to mush. That knifing pain was upon again, threatening to break his heart in two. Fuck.

He didn’t want to look like an imbecile in front of Cyrus.

But it was already too late. His vision turned blurry and Han Li stiffened his jaw, trying to swallow down the feeling that formed in his throat. 6EPX9z

The tears fell, he had no control over them.

Cyrus’s countenance colored with concern. He put down his glass of water and cooed, “Oh you poor thing.” He opened his arms up in invitation.

The painful swelling continued in Han Li’s chest. When he tried to refuse Cyrus no words came out. Sniffling pathetically, he awkwardly closed the distance between them, allowing himself to get pulled into the hug.

It was stiff, awkward at first. x7SYb

But he felt soothed by the warmth of another person.

Han Li trembled, unable to hold back a hiccup. He hid his face in Cyrus’s shoulder as fearing to be seen, even when there was no one there to see him.

“…I’m in love with him,” he said again, barely a whisper.

“I know. I know.” Cyrus’s silvery voice was a pleasant lull, like a deep vibration that touched Han Li’s soul. “It’s okay to cry, Li. You’re allowed to mourn.” lpW82S

“…Nngh.” A strange sound escaped his lips. More tears fell. Han Li could no longer stop himself. He pressed his face into Cyrus’s shoulder, trying as he could to muffle the whimpers, the whining sounds, and other pathetic noises that made their escape. His fingers dug into Cyrus’s shirt, desperate and shaking. Miasma was already pouring out from his body but Cyrus did not seem to mind, shushing and cooing and rubbing comforting circles into his back.

Han Li cried.

Han Li cried, he did not notice the black third eye that appeared upon Cyrus’s brow.

The demon prince held his younger brethren, judging the level of intoxication that Han Li had received. LdpsZI

It was a slow working poison. One that had been in the works for years.

Cyrus smiled to himself, still whispering sweet words in Han Li’s ears. “Don’t worry, Li. You don’t need Graham Astley. You won’t be needing the Saint of Eternity anymore, I can promise you that.”

Han Li cried until his words turned incoherent, until all his thoughts and emotions blurred into an incomprehensible mass. His iron grip on Cyrus’s shirt slowly loosened. The hiccups quelled and he relaxed into Cyrus’s arm.

Slowly, Cyrus lowered the younger demon into a lying position on the couch. Han Li had on a drunken expression, eyes red and tear-stained, strands of hair matted to his face, and his lips slightly parted. f5PkNU

The Saint of Eternity had made a terrible mistake for not keeping a closer eye on this little treasure, Cyrus thought with avid amusement. He brushed Han Li’s hair out of his face before leaning down and pressing a kiss onto those soft, pink lips.

“Sleep, little one,” Cyrus muttered.

And sleep, Han Li did.

Only then, did Cyrus reach down and grab the earring that hung off Han Li’s left earlobe. Without much ceremony, he yanked it off. 2LzhaY

  2. Haaaaaah. Han Li, poor baby. He was being poisoned? Perhaps that is what led to his unbalanced emotions? Goddamn It, Cyrus.

Whispers I really like this. Good job, Cryus.

    • …!! You’re onto something WaHHhhhh. Well his therapist most definitely didn’t have his best interest in mind and was influencing things for the worse u__u

      LOL PLEASEGEOWJGGEGWEO OMG

  3. Ahhh!!! (incoherent yelling & wide eye emoji) – thank you for another delicious chapter val (and some very, very pretty art of RIN!!)

  4. Why can’t you use gifs in this comment section?? I need it to express how badly I want to stab this guy 😭😭😭🔪🔪🔪

  5. Han Li was poisoned ??? For YEARS ?!?!!! And Cyrus is a DEMON PRINCE ??? Working with John River ????? What is this arc? Are you trying to invoke heart attacks?

Val promised HE, Val promised HE. Promised HE. HE HE HE Val is enjoying our pain 😭

  6. You monster! My heart aches for dearie Han Li! Dear author, please stop these torture! Sweet Han Li is too drained! Want to hug him super close and kiss all his worries away!!! When, Oh when is his heart going to have its rightful rest?!!

    Brokenhearted again 😭😭😭💔💔💔

  7. Yes Han Li, good job you finally say it ! And you shed the tears you needed to for 3 f******g years !

I’ll be honest here… I really like the direction this is taking ! I want to see what will happened and possibly Han Li getting even more badass (and possibly evil I think) without getting angsty over Grams. I love the thoughts of evil Han Li. Thanks Scum Villain Self Saving System for loving the opposition evil/good MC vs Good/evil ML so much 🤣

Grams get your shit together and come and save him. Though I suppose it will take him a sh*t lot of times to understand that Han Li is not coming back/contacting him because something happened !

You love torturing us but I know it will make the resolution even more fulfilling ! Keep up the good job dear author !

    • I also add on second thoughts, that it’s gonna be hard on Graham. He failed to protect his love one for the second time. And this time, he held some responsibilities in the whole mess.

So I feel this is gonna be pretty important for Han Li character development but also for Graham !

    • LMFAOO!! omg o w o; u-um! WELL! I won’t say anything but I hope you stay tuned u w u!!

thank you so much for reading wahh <3 <3

  8. HAN LI YOU IMBECILE!!!

    Thank you for the chapter.

(I think I’ll hoard some chapters now not to annoy myself too much and to take it all in one go. Val, can you please estimate how many chapters this torture will last?)

    • UHHHMMMMM WEEPS TT___TT i don’t really know what counts…I guess it continues for a bit? But it becomes less emotionally intense/angsty and more thriller/suspense!

      • OK, I’ll suspend my chapter hoarding plan for now. The next chapter is very interesting. I’m looking forward to some action now since they pissed Iszak and Graham started acting too. And since we have another demon prince… action please. And then you can kick Han Li’s butt untill he confesses.
