Lu Fengmian froze, his eyes wide. No… what had he just done? His eyes were filled with solemn as he watched Tang Qingshan pull a light smile with blood spilling from his mouth, his hands holding onto Lu Fengmian’s blade that had dug deep into his heart. His heart ached, a suffering cry as his expression cracked. No, with his own hands, he had just doomed the man he loved.
“Feng…mian, pull out your sword. It’s alright, it doesn’t hurt.” Tang Qingshan slowly said as he noticed the devastation setting in on Lu Fengmian’s face. His voice was calm, as if it wasn’t his own life that was going to end.
But Lu Fengmian couldn’t move, the shock still setting in. His mind was clouded, unable to believe what he had just done.
Seeing that Lu Fengmian was still in shock, Tang Qingshan held onto the blade of his sword and slowly pulled the blade out, his own hands bleeding in the process. With this, Lu Fengmian finally reacted.
Lu Fengmian’s hands reached out as Tang Qingshan’s body collapsed onto the ground, blood pouring out from his wound, dying his armor red. “I… I didn’t mean to, I don’t want to kill you!” His voice came out so fast, it cracked with pain.

Tang Qingshan’s breathing was shallow and he carefully stretched out his hand to caress Lu Fengmian’s face, wiping away his tears. “Why are you crying? I was the one who had hurt you, I was the one who caused you to change. When I had entered this battlefield, I knew that death was assured for me. But meeting you before my death, I can leave content.” Tang Qingshan coughed, blood spilling from his mouth.
“No, please, stay with me for a bit longer.” Lu Fengmian finally sought out a plan. As long as he could make Tang Qingshan’s life last just a little longer, then that would be enough. Lu Fengmian’s hand trembled as he placed his hand on top of Tang Qingshan’s chest and began passing off a small amount of his life force.
A bright blue light shined from his hand, and Tang Qingshan tried to stop him. “Stop. Fengmian, I will die no matter what. Please don’t try to save me. If I am to die, then at least you should live.” Tang Qingshan felt his breath stabling and he hurried to stop Lu Fengmian.

Tang Qingshan lifted his hand, wrapping it around Lu Fengmian’s wrist. He lightly smiled while shaking his head, his own eyes red but his tears didn’t fall. There was peace on his face. “Fengmian, you can’t save me. Don’t use your life like this. I am going to die no matter what. I can’t let you suffer alongside with me too.” Tang Qingshan understood that Lu Fengmian could exhaust his life but it still wouldn’t fix the damage that had been caused to his heart, the gaping hole that existed. The only reason why he wasn’t dead yet was because Lu Fengmian was foolishly using his life force to make his heart continue beating by force.
The tears fell down harder and Lu Fengmian understood. He could exhaust his life and still wouldn’t be able to make Tang Qingshan’s heart fix itself. He didn’t understand. He wasn’t trying to kill Tang Qingshan, his body had moved without his control over it. As he looked at the man who laid on the battlefield, his hand still glowed softly over the armor.
“Fengmian, enough,” Tang Qingshan said once more as he smiled. He didn’t look like a man who was on his deathbed, gently smiling towards Lu Fengmian.

Fengmian, I’m sorry for having dismissed your feelings.” Tang Qingshan closed his eyes. There was a very peaceful smile on his face, confessing everything within his heart.
Lu Fengmian finally took away his hands, knowing well that it was the end now. Nothing he did would be able to bring this man back. He looked at the man’s contours, as if imprinting this image into his head. Wasn’t it in their original world that he had also died like this? Once more, the past was being replayed before their very eyes. Lu Fengmian couldn’t break away from their fate.
“Qingshan, if everything had changed, if we had met before, would I have had a chance to be by your side?” Lu Fengmian asked, his voice breaking.
Tang Qingshan lifted his mouth in sorrow, “Of course. If we had met first, I would’ve given you everything. Unfortunately, we met in a time that was too late, a time of war and unrest. I regret most that I met you too late.” These were the deepest feelings within his heart.
Tang Qingshan finished his sentence with difficulty, a sharp pain from his chest made him grimace, his breath came out slower and slower with each gasp he took. He wanted to hold on, but he knew he couldn’t.
“Fengmian, I have to go now.” Tang Qingshan finally said. He held tightly onto Lu Fengmian’s hand and smiled softly towards him, eyes looking into his.

Tang Qingshan smiled one last time as his eyes slowly closed. His body fell into Lu Fengmian’s arms, one final breath escaping as his heart finally gave up. Even in death, he had a content smile on his face.
Lu Fengmian looked at Tang Qingshan in silence, a suffocating pain in his heart.
“Fengmian?” Hong Daiyu walked towards Lu Fengmian, her robes dyed with blood. Looking at the man in his arms, Hong Daiyu was unable to suppress the shock within her. “This…”
Lu Fengmian didn’t say a word. His face still held great grief within it.
“Fengmian, your sister needs your help. I… I will watch over him, so don’t worry.” Hong Daiyu stepped forward and said.
Lu Fengmian finally turned to look, taking a deep breath as his fingers rubbed Tang Qingshan’s cheek. “I understand.” He slowly laid Tang Qingshan’s body onto the ground, giving him one long glance before he made his way to Lu Yingyue. As he stepped away, he only yearned to return.
As he walked with fast footsteps, he saw Jiang Nianzhen fighting with Lu Yingyue. He knew he shouldn’t say anything but he said in a pained voice, “Nianzhen, Qingshan… has died.”
Jiang Nianzhen paused as he shook, shock overcoming him, forgetting his pain. He looked at the man who he recognized as Lu Fengmian. “What!? What do you mean he died?” His voice was loud and sharp, successfully capturing the attention of others surrounding them.
Just as Lu Fengmian was about to explain, a rumble from the ground sent everyone off of their feet. The sound of loud explosions were heard, bodies laying on the ground.
Bombs! Lu Fengmian was off of his feet, sent flying onto the ground, a sharp pain all over his body and he found that his arms were bleeding heavily. But he searched for Tang Qingshan’s body, to see that Hong Daiyu had made sure nothing had happened. Looking over, he saw Lu Yingyue covering Jiang Nianzhen’s body, protecting him from the bomb. Her body was battered and bloodied.
Even though his body hurt, Lu Fengmian stood with shaking legs, pushing his body to move towards Lu Yingyue.
“Sister?” Lu Fengmian’s voice was low as screams were heard.
“Ugh.” Lu Yingyue grunted in pain. Her entire backside was bloodied, her armor fully destroyed.
Jiang Nianzhen laid underneath Lu Yingyue, still in shock before he exclaimed, “Yingyue, are you alright!?” He wanted to move her, but Lu Yingyue stopped him.

Jiang Nianzhen stopped, knowing well why she had stopped him. His lips trembled.
“Are you going to leave me?” Jiang Nianzhen asked, voice trembling. “You saved me with your life and now you will leave me to mourn you forever.”
“I’m not a good person, Nianzhen. Your worst decision was falling for someone like me.” Lu Yingyue weakly laid her head on Jiang Nianzhen’s shoulder, closing her eyes
As Lu Fengmian watched, he finally understood. This world was meant to bring him pain, but most of all, this world already had its ending doomed. No matter what, he would have failed his mission. Every one of his decisions would have led to this very same ending. He suddenly smiled mockingly. Was this fate? It tied him, and no matter the choices he chose, the ending would still not change.
“In this world, you and I had the wrong destiny. Nianzhen, we were doomed from the beginning. In the next life, let us be of one kind and I will love you without end.” Lu Yingyue leaned her head down on his shoulder, her eyes closed as she slowly breathed her last. She smiled lightly as her heart came to a stop.
Jiang Nianzhen didn’t move. Tears fell from his eyes, yet he said not one word. In that moment, Lu Yingyue’s body turned into a thousand specks of light before his eyes, floating towards the sky and disappearing, leaving only Jiang Nianzhen laying on the ground with pain.

Miles away, Shan Mingxia held a brush in her hand, looking down at the portrait of a handsome and gallant man. There was an empty cup on her desk with a bottle next to it.
“I have finally gotten revenge, Shouxin. Shouxin, it has been so long. Fei Qianchi closed his eyes, nodding his head. “I understand.”
