A quick clarification about the title: the original title is 截胡(Jié hú), it’s a term in mahjong 截(means interrupt or stop) 胡(refers or association with mahjong). So when a player wins in mahjong they would yell out “胡(hú)” therefore as a whole term 截胡(Jié hú) meant being interrupted when you’re about to succeed or win. So my interpretation of the title would be how Xie Shi and Xie Mu stopped each other’s engagement but of course, you’re free to have your own interpretation if you disagree with mine! 🙂
