At the thought that the young girl he had bullied not so long ago had grown up and was getting married now, Shan Ziwei couldn’t help but sigh. He was even the one who had made everything happen. As a villain, he had done his job of bullying a child, enslaving the princess, giving the hunter orders and even dealing drugs. Behind every happily married prince and princess, there was a silent, unknown, wingman “mage”.

Without him noticing, the door to the storage room had opened and the guards had disappeared. Snow White stood there alone.

The most common beliefs for where they came for are: a symbol for eternity or as a part of the dowry. I also know that in some religions the husband has to bring the wife something valuable since marriage is basically a contract between them. It doesn’t really have to be a ring for them.
