The difference is that here, I’m being led to believe that the author’s purpose was to make it a humiliating experience for SXH. In fact, I would go a step further and say that XYM INTENDED for this to be humiliating and a show of dominance rather than affection. Which is, given all that we’ve learned about him since his rebirth in the story, VERY in character for him. I think the misleading keywords appear when the text says ” The smile on his face was gentle like never before. His eyes no longer held any coldness. Instead, there was affection within them.” However, the only conclusion that can be drawn here is that XYM has admitted to himself that he is romantically interested in SXH. What XYM is doing IN SCENE though, is purposefully provoking (traumatizing?) SXH so that SXH can never forget him. He’s venting his anger about SXH being so gung-ho about breaking up with him. All this to say: if these kinds of mind games and power plays are what turn you off, then yes, totally valid, please absolutely go seek out other content you enjoy! But I think your current opinion is based off of a false impression of the story, which is a little unfair. Anyway, who knows if you read this I guess.
