“Fuck you Alexandre. The only reason you aren’t in jail is because of your parents.” Kloh scoffed.
“Kloh!” Alexandre exclaimed.
“And the only reason I never called them is also because of your parents!” He continued, so completely over saving Alexandre the embarrassment.
“You…you…y…”
“You are nothing but a pathetic, sad, lonely person without them.”
“Shut up!” Alexnadte shouted and covered his ears.
“I don’t know how many times I have to tell you before you get the hint, but I’ll say it again. YOU ARE NOTHING TO ME! NOTHING!” Kloh ended up screaming that last part.
Breathing heavily, he felt the anger growing. As if everything that felt at that time had just been laying dormant this whole time. Waiting for the day that he was just ready to explode. He felt aggression circulating in his body and felt the need to just release everything that he was holding back. The pheromones started to trickle out.
Still very susceptible to the smell of Kloh’s pheromones, Dex easily picked up on the change. He pushed forward and went to Kloh’s side. The anger radiating off of his boyfriend was startling but justifiable. As soon as Dex touched his shoulder, the anger retracted a bit and he relaxed. Kloh looked over at Dex. Dex fully stepped in front of him, blocking Alexandre’s view of Kloh. Although he felt just as pissed off as Kloh, he realized that this situation needed to be diffused before they all got escorted out.
“Kloh, don’t let him ruin another New Year for you.” He whispered just for Kloh to hear.
Kloh bristled then let out a breath. Dex was right. He couldn’t, wouldn’t, allow Alexandre to dominate another minute of his time. It was his first new year with Dex. He wanted the two of them to bring in the new year together. Letting out another exhale, he nodded and pushed down all the anger that was brewing inside of him. He took Dex’s hand in his and kissed the back of it. He held the hand against his lips, breathing deeply with his eyes shut. He focused on Dex.
“Let’s find someplace quiet. Just you and me.” Dex proposed.
Kloh nodded in agreement. Holding onto Dex was doing wonders for his nerves. He felt much calmer in the presence of his omega. Dex had turned to Wesley and beckoned him over. After some back and forth whispering, Wesley nodded and stepped back.
“Come on.” Dex tugged him.
Kloh easily followed Dex’s directive. The group stepped back quietly. As confused as they were, they knew it wasn’t the right time to get answers. Dex already had a destination in mind as he pulled Kloh towards the house.
“Wait! Where are you going?!” Alexandre screeched and stepped forward, breaking the tranquility that Kloh was building up.
Kloh cut him a glare that made him stop in his tracks.
“Don’t make me call Jasmine, Alexandre.” Kloh said in that icy tone that made Alexandre fidget nervously.
“Kloh! You wouldn’t!” He exclaimed, the hesitation and fear evident in his voice.
“I absolutely will. Something tells me she doesn’t know you’re here. And I’ll gladly be the one to inform her.”
Alexandre whimpered fearfully and sniffled. He kind of shrank into himself and took a step back. He didn’t look up as Dex took Kloh away. Casey said something he couldn’t register. Next, he was turned around and they were walking away. He glanced back and saw the two walking hand in hand. The last remaining bit of hope shattered into pieces. Tears flowed freely as he and Casey got further away.
Dex took Kloh through the crowd and into the house. With a familiarity, he took Kloh upstairs and down several hallways. The amount of people grew thinner as they moved away from the heart of the party. They eventually stopped at the end of a hallway in front of two beautiful double doors. Dex opened them and stepped out onto a balcony. The doors closed behind them.
Dex let out a breath. Kloh took a step towards him. Dex easily relaxed into his arms, giving his bodyweight to Kloh. They hugged with Dex’s back against Kloh’s chest. Kloh’s arms wrapped around Dex and Dex placed his arms on top of Kloh’s. Kloh pressed his face against the marked gland, taking several deep breaths. The faint rumbling of music in the background. The occasional wafting of food. The periodic laugh from a passersby. The anger had finally dulled out as he held Dex.
He wasn’t sure how long they stood there. But soon in the distance he could hear the countdown begin.

“Dex, meet Seph. The wonderful angel who has graced my life with her presence.” Donny introduced his wife, a beautiful beta woman with dark green eyes and a purple bob.
“So you’re Dex. Kloh has told me all about you. And can I just say you are just as handsome as he described. Oh my! It’s such a pleasure to meet you. Come here.” And before he could get a word in, Dex was pulled into a tight hug by the shorter woman.
“Nice to meet you too.” He managed to get out before he was squeezed tightly.
“Oh you are just too precious!” She released him just to pat his cheek adoringly.
Dex could only smile down at her. After being complimented until his ears were bright red, he was finally allowed to leave her clutches. He quickly made his way through the great lawn and to Kloh.
His parents’ New Year’s Day BBQ was in full swing. Everywhere you looked were people talking, laughing or eating. Many of his parent’s coworkers and friends were here with their kids. His grandparents and uncles and aunts were scattered throughout the park. He genuinely felt like the crowd grew every year.
As he walked through the crowd, many people stopped him to say hello. A lot of them were Beau’s military friends. He could easily remember them because he and Wesley spent years pining over several of them.
“It’s been awhile. How are you doing?” A particularly handsome alpha named Seaton asked as he hugged Dex.
“Oh. I’m good, you know me. How are you?” Dex blushed and hugged him back.
Seaton was a favorite amongst Beau’s friends. He always bought him and Wesley treats and sweets when he came to visit. Plus he was never put off by Dex’s unomega-like appearance. He treated Wesley and Dex like extremely precious cargo whenever the two swindled their way into Beau’s outings.
“I’m doing great. Just got reassigned back here so I guess you’ll be seeing more of me.” He grinned as he released Dex.
“That’s amazing. Me and Wesley were all torn up when you left.” Dex laughed.
“I heard. Nice to know I’m loved.” He wiggled his eyebrows and they both laughed.
“Seriously though, it’s nice to see you.”
“You too. Oh and congrats. Beau told me you found your mate. I’m so happy for you.” Seaton rubbed his head.
“Stop that.” Dex pushed his hand away with a chuckle. “And thank you. I’m happy too.”
Dex blushed and tucked his hair behind his ear shyly. Many people have congratulated today and it never failed to make him embarrassed.
“That’s good. I’m glad you’re happy. You deserve it.” Seaton gave him a smile.
A flash of regret crossed Seaton’s face where Dex couldn’t see.
“Dex!”
Dex looked up and saw Annette and Lyca waving at him. Kloh was holding onto them as they jumped and waved. The smile on his face grew as Kloh shot him a grin.
“I’m guessing that’s the guy.” Seatom asked besides him.
“Yeah that’s him.”
“Remind him that I’ll kick his ass if he ever hurts you.”
Dex looked back and Seaton’s mock stren face broke into a grin. Dex laughed and nodded. He had been told the same thing by the rest of Beau’s friends as well. But this one, he believed.
“You should go over. He’s waiting for you. We’ll catch up later.”
“Absolutely. It was great to see you, Seaton.” Dex gave him a quick hug.
“You too.” They parted and Dex walked off.
Dex made most of the way there before two small but solid bodies hit his legs at the same time. If it wasn’t for Kloh steadying him they would’ve all gone down. Lyca and Annette were hugging his legs as they happily chattered.
“Dex we missed you!” “You didn’t visit for Christmas!”
“I know I’m sorry. I missed y’all too.” He said with a laugh and squatted down to properly hug them.
Both kids squealed and launched themselves at him, hugging his neck with their small pudgy arms.
“Mama said to tell you to come to the house to eat.” Annette said directly into his ear.
“Yes! And and you have to bring Kloh with you.” Lyca followed up.
Dex’s eyes flickered to Kloh’s who just raised a brow at him. Seeing no sign of disagreement, he looked back at the two.
“Okay. It’s a promise.”
“Pinky swear?” Two little pinkies appeared in his face.
With a laugh he wrapped his much larger pinkie around the two smaller pinkies.
“Pinky swear.” He promised.
They laughed happily. Kloh bent over, silently greeted him with a kiss and caressed the mating mark on the back of his neck. A chill ran down Dex’s spine as Kloh’s pheromones wrapped around him. He gave the man a look but Kloh just pressed another kiss against his lips.
He stood up, a hand still caressing the mark. Dex could barely focus. He decided to just sit on the blanket while holding the kiddies. The two climbed into his lap. The pheromones danced around him for several more minutes before they retracted. The whole time Annette and Lyca were giving him their various life updates. He nodded and smiled as he tried to collect himself.
“Who are these cuties?” Wesley cooed as he walked over with Mars.
Lyca and Annette became shy in an instant and hugged Dex tighter. They peeked at Wesley in turn. Wesley smiled at the two, bending over to eye level.
“Hi, I’m Wesley. I’m Dex’s best friend.” He waved.
“You’re Dex’s friend?” Annette eyed him.
Wesley nodded with a friendly smile.
“He’s your friend Dex?” Lyca whispered.
“Yes he is.” Dex said with a laugh.
“Okay! I’m Annette and this is Lyca.” Annette grinned up at Wesley.
Lyca also grinned at him. “Kloh’s our big brother.”
“Really?” Wesley glanced up at Kloh questioningly.
The man just shrugged in return.
“Yes! His mom and our mama got married. So now he is our brother.” Lyca excitedly explained.
“That’s so cool.” Wesley replied just as enthusiastically.
“I know! Are you married?” Annette asked, her eyes going to Mars, who was speaking with Kloh.
Wesley paused then laughed. He’d never been asked that by a kid. He leaned in as if telling a big secret. The two leaned closer to him.
“Not yet, but soon. I’ll invite you two to the wedding.” He promised.
Annette squealed and Lyca grinned. Instantly any wariness towards Wesley disappeared. They also made him pinky promise. Lyca tugged Wesley’s hand and whispered to him.
“He’s so big.” And looked up at Mars.
Annette agreed. “I wanna be big like him.”
Wesley and Dex laughed.
“Mars?”
“Yes.”
“These two precious babies want to be big. Can you help?”
“Sure.”
Mars squatted down, a silly grin in his face. The two looked at Dex for permission. Dex smiled and nodded at them. They giggled and ran into Mars arms. After securely holding onto them, he stood up. The two squealed happily as Mars ran around with them. Going in circles, dropping down before getting back up. Their happy laughter had people looking over with smiles.
“I’m gonna get you some food. You haven’t eaten all day.” Kloh rubbed Dex’s head and kissed his forehead.
“Okay.” Dex smiled up at him.
Kloh smiled back before tapping his forehead again then walking away. Wesley sat down next to Dex, leaning his whole body onto Dex. Immediately he crinkled his nose and poked Dex’s chest.
“Babe you stink of cloves. What happened?” Wesley asked as he got comfortable.
“No clue. Kloh just drowned me.”
“Hmmmmmm, interesting.”
“Yeah.” Dex muttered and rubbed the back of his neck. He cleared his throat.
“Guess who I saw?”
“Roxy, cause I surely saw her. And yes she is just as hot as she was before she was deployed. You know she’s the only alpha girl that’s ever made my heart stutter.” Wesley giggled and sighed wistfully.
Roxy, like Seaton, was another one of Beau’s military friends. She was also deployed away from home. Dex rolled his eyes.

“Babe, Seatom has been in love with you for years. Kloh, like everyone else, definitely clocked it and made sure that everyone was aware that you already belonged to someone else. Oh how romantic.” Wesley wiggled his brows at Dex.
“Love?…. Seaton?…….. Me– what?” Dex shook his head, trying to process all the words thrown at him just now.
“Oh yeah you didn’t know. Yeah like he was like die hard in love with you. But this was the time where you were all head over heels for Sebastian, that bastard.”
“Wha—- ahhh wow. I didn’t even…….wow.”
“Yeah. He would’ve taken care of you for your first heat and each one afterwards if you’d let him. Oof, imagine being dicked down by all that 6’4″ inches of pure muscle. Tell me, did he unwrap you like a delicacy last night or is the outfit I painstakingly made for you destroyed?” Wesley gave him an innocent look even though his eyes radiated mischief.
“Wesley, please.” Dex groaned.
“Okay okay. I’ll stop because we’re in public. But I expect details later.”
“Dex! I’m taking the kiddies to the bounce house.” Mars yelled over.
“Okay, have fun!” Dex waved back.
Annette and Lyca were climbing him like a jungle gym. Lyca was on his back and Annette was wrapped around his leg. They laughed and screamed as he shook them. He picked up Annette and held her in his arms. Another arm went back to make sure Luca was securely holding onto him. They headed off to the kids area, where there was a bounce house, an obstacle course and many different arts and crafts stations.
“He’d be a good father.” Wesley commented with a small smile.
“Yeah. He would.” Dex agreed as they watched the three walk away.
“So would Kloh.”
“Yeah.” Dex smiled at that thought.
“Wouldn’t it be easier if they could just carry the babies? Save us the drama and be stay at home dads.” Wesley laughed.
“Oh yeah. That’d be great.” Dex joined in.
They both could easily imagine their alphas barefoot and pregnant. Almost in unison they broke out into a bout of wild laughter. What an image that was. Kloh being pregnant was easy to digest. But a pregnant Mars was too much for them.
“What’s so funny?” A shadow covered them.
Wesley squinted up at the giant blocking the sun. Dex also looked up and resisted the urge to suck his teeth when he saw Sebastian. And to make it worse, by his side was the only person that Dex has ever wished bodily harm on.
“Wesley. Dex. It’s been awhile.” Aster smiled down at him.
Wesley gagged and pinched his nose.
“I thought I smelled something rotten.”
The smile on the omega’s face fell.
“Oh screw you Wesley.” He scowled.
“Sorry, I’m taken. Oh but you like taken men, don’t you?” Wesley tsked and picked at his nails.
“Ah— you…”
“Aster. Remember what you’re here for.” Sebastian cut in.
“Right, why are you here? Both of you?” Dex spoke up.
“Dex. How are you? Last time I saw you, y–”
“Just answer the question.” Wesley cut him off.
“I…” Sebastian glanced at Wesley before looking back at Dex.
His face softened and he cleared his throat. Aster was nudged forward by him. The omega cut him a glare before smoothing out his clothes.
“I would like to apologize.” Aster said.
