“Tsk tsk. Here he comes.”
Kloh laughed as he rounded the corner into the kitchen. Sitting at the counter was Wesley and Noe. The minute he stepped into the kitchen they started catcalling him. Kloh rolled his eyes and went over to pour himself some coffee. After letting them get out all their weirdness, he examined the room.
“Everyone left?”
“Beau took Lee and Weston to help set up at their house. Mars went to drop off the lovely couples and Simon.”
“What about you Noe?” He asked as he took a sip of the delicious roast.
“My sister is gonna pick me up. She should be here in about 30 minutes.” Noe shook his phone.
“Did you guys sleep well?” He asked nonchalantly.
Wesley and Noe looked at each other and grinned. Then they turned to look at Kloh. Wesley hopped off the seat and bounced over to Kloh. Kloh calmly sipped his coffee as he watched the omega watch him.
“We slept okay. The boys let us delicate omegas sleep together in the bedroom downstairs and they slept in the living room.” Wesley said as a smile slowly appeared.
“Living room? There are two more rooms upstairs. That wasn’t necessary.” Kloh tilted his head in confusion.
“Weeelllllllll,” Wesley stretched out the word, “we did plan on going up but a certain couple’s pheromones were thick enough to send someone into an early estrus.”
Noe giggled as he watched Wesley. It took a second to realize what Wesley was implying. Once he caught the gist of it, Kloh blushed and hastily drank his coffee.
“You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you?” Wesley teased and poked Kloh’s stomach.
“Huh, can’t say I do.” Kloh tried to act indifferent but his bright red ears gave him away.
Noe and Wesley straight out laughed. Kloh silently cursed them but still smiled despite the embarrassment.
“Lee took three steps up the stairs then immediately turned around and banned anyone from going upstairs.” Noe said as he laughed.
The blush on Kloh’s face deepened. He nearly scalded himself as he took a big gulp of coffee. Wesley made his way back to Noe and sat back down.
“Now that I’ve thoroughly embarrassed you, I will now threaten you.” Wedley announced and he cleared his throat.
“Threaten me?” Kloh choked on his coffee.
“Yes. Seeing as you have officially stolen my best friend away from me, it is my duty and obligation to let you know that if anything, and I mean anything, happens to my best friend, I will find you and have Mars kick your ass. And that’s a promise.” Wesley crossed his arms and tilted his head up so that he was looking down his nose at Kloh.
Kloh smiled and nodded. He was grateful that Dex had friends like Wesley who looked out for his well being the way his group of Os did for him.
“Got it. Feel free to kick my ass when needed.” Kloh nodded in agreement.
“Glad to see we are on the same page.” Wesley nodded in satisfaction before slumping back down against the countertop.
“Can you make us breakfast now? All the people who know how to cook have left.” Noe asked as his stomach growled, Wesley rushed to agree.
“Have the two of you just been sitting here waiting for me to come down?” Kloh raised his brow at the two.
Wesley pouted. “Everyone left while we were still sleeping.”
Noe nodded. “And they know we can’t cook. Lee told us to wait for you.”
“And now you’re here. So cook.” Wesley grinned at him and batted his lashes.
Noe took a look at Wesley and did the same. They both gave him innocent coquettish looks.
Kloh rolled his eyes. He leaned forward and flicked both of them. Simultaneous yelps of pain left them as they rubbed their foreheads.
“What a meanie.” Wesley pouted.
“A big meanie.” Noe stuck his tongue out at the alpha.
“Well this meanie is gonna cook for you. So be a little nicer.” Kloh blew them a kiss and turned to rummage through the fridge and cabinets.
As he went through, he unconsciously started pulling out things Dex liked. Turkey bacon, eggs, potatoes to make home fries. He didn’t realize that he had started humming as he moved through the kitchen with the thought of feeding Dex fueling his energy. Wesley and Noe watched him in interest as he easily started to prepare what looked to be a very filling breakfast.

“You’re sure?” Kloh asked for the fifth time as he pulled up in front of a two story Georgian style home.
It was very fancy looking and big. Dex couldn’t help but wonder of Kloh’s mom was the only person living in such a big house.
“Yeah I am. We’re already here anyway.” Dex said and patted Kloh’s head.
“I guess.” He muttered and parked in the driveway next to a sleek black BMW and a gray Subaru.
Even as he turned off the ignition he was compelled to ask again if Dex wanted to be here. He looked over at his boyfriend and pouted. Dex laughed and pinched the pushed out bottom lip.
“Kloh, it’ll be fine.” He said and pinched the man’s cheek.
“Promise you’ll let me know if you wanna bail?”
“Promise.” Dex did the boy scout salute.
“We’re not staying…”

Dex’s playful attitude softened and he stroked Kloh’s cheek. He could see the multitude of emotions crossing Kloh’s face even though he was trying to hide them.
“I know. And I’m grateful for that and for you. We’ll mingle a bit then promptly disappear. Sounds good?” Dex softly said.
Kloh nodded. He turned slightly and pressed a kiss to Dex’s palm. Dex gave him a silly grin in return. After collecting themselves the two got out of the car. As Kloh stepped out there was a nagging feeling in the back of his head as though he forgot something. He thought about it and nothing came to mind.
“You alright?” Dex asked, stopping in front of him.
“Yeah, just a weird feeling. It doesn’t matter. Let’s do this.” Kloh shook it off and held out his hand to Dex.
Dex squeezed his hand making him smile. Together they made their way up the path. The way up was a bit long. On either side of the path were bushes full of flowers in different colors. The lawn was neatly cut. As they got closer Kloh remembered all the days he spent hiding away in his room to avoid his mother. By the time he had moved back they were practically strangers.
He stopped in front of the crimson red door that he hated looking at for several years of his life. Now he was more indifferent. He reached out and grabbed the golden knocker. Another thing he hated, the lack of a doorbell. They waited a minute. Dex shuffled nervously, squeezing Kloh’s hand for his own comfort. Kloh smiled up at him, leaning over to rub his forehead on Dex’s shoulder comfortingly. He mouthed the words relax. Dex nodded, took a breath and relaxed a bit.
The door burst open. They were hit with the smell of freshly baked cookies and the sound of classical music. But no one was there. They two shared a confused look before the small pitter patter of feet made them look down. Two cherubs looked up at them with bright shiny green eyes. They looked mixed. From what Kloh could remember they were Korean American. Their matching black hair was combed neatly and one had it pulled back into pigtails, while the other had it in a braid. They wore matching dark brown jumpers with a cream colored undershirt. The four stared at each other for a minute. Then the two bundles screamed and hugged Kloh’s legs.
“KLOH!”
Dex stared at the two then at Kloh. Kloh coughed awkwardly and avoided eye contact as he remembered what he forgot.
“Lyca! Annette! What did I tell you about opening the door by yourself? Oh Kloh! It’s you. Good to see you. It’s been awhile.” A shorter, handsome woman stopped in front of the door with a gentle smile.
She looked just like the two little cherubs. The same striking green eyes and sleek black hair. Except hers was cut into a cute fashionable bob. She had caramel colored slacks and a matching cream colored blouse.
“Mom, look , it’s Kloh!” The first bundle chirped.
“He came to visit us!” The second one added on.
They still held onto Kloh’s legs as they spoke to their mother.
“Well let’s bring him and his friend inside. We don’t want them to get a cold, do we?” She smiled at them.
“Come in! Don’t get cold!” Lyca pulled on Kloh’s pants.
“Colds are stinky. Come in faster.” Annette reached up and grabbed Dex’s coat, tugging on it.
The two still somewhat stunned adults were escorted in by the kids.
“You must be the boyfriend. I’m Kayle, the step mom.” Kayle greeted Dex.
“I’m Dex. Pleasure to meet you.” Dex managed a smile.
The two bundles actively helped the couple put away their jackets even though they were too small to reach the hangers. Then they helped put away their shoes and brought out a pair of pink piglet shaped house slippers for both of them.
“Why don’t I let my two little helpers show you guys the way inside?” Kalye said with a laugh and winked at Dex.
“Yeah yeah.” “Come with us.” The two brightened up and immediately reached out to grab their hands.
“That’s what I was forgetting, she remarried last year.” Kloh mumbled as the two took their hands.
Because they were so short, Dex and Kloh had to slightly hunch over in order to hold their hands properly.
“Bit late to mention that, ain’t it?” Dex whispered through his smile and harshly pinched Kloh’s side.
“Like I said, I don’t really pay much attention to her affairs. This is only my third time meeting them all.” Kloh pushed away the hand and bit back a small scream.
He rubbed his side as Dex cut him glare when Kayle was turned around.
“At least the kids are cute.” He smiled sheepishly and pretend to not see the look.
Lyca and Annette pulled at their hands excitedly, bringing them further into the house. Dex looked back down at the two little humans who were energetically explaining what they had cooked themselves for Thanksgiving. He glanced over and saw Kloh had picked up the little person and was happily chatting about turkeys.
“Can I pick you up?” Dex awkwardly asked.
“Yes!” Annette held her arms up happily.
“Alright. Here I go.” He muttered to himself and picked her up.
He wasn’t sure how to hold her but Annette was already used to being held and quickly got comfortable in his arms. She started to direct him around the house, introducing random things they passed by.
The house inside was much warmer compared to the outside. The style was a tasteful nude color scheme. There was a minimalist vibe but every now and then you could see bits of colors from a child’s painting or toys. There were high ceilings and Dex could see two to three balloons in the top corner of the living room. He could imagine the two kids forgetting to hold their balloons properly and having them ascend into the sky.
“And Mama is making a turkey for us to eat. It’s gonna be yummy cause we helped.” Annette grinned proudly as she puffed out her chest.
“I’m sure it’ll be very yummy.” Dex agreed with a smile.
Annette’s eyes sparkled as she placed her little hands on Dex’s face.
“Are you Kloh’s husband?” She asked in a whisper.
Dex nearly choked on his spit. He coughed and cleared his throat. Husband? He glanced over at Kloh who was whispering to Lyca. That stinky alpha wouldn’t even mark him when he asked. Dex scrunched his nose at Kloh.
“No, he isn’t. He’s my boyfriend.” Dex explained.
Annette seriously nodded. “Like Mom and Mama before they became wife and wife.”
Dex wanted to deny it but she was right.
“Yup just like Mom and Mama.”
Annette’s eyes went wide and she leaned in.
“So you will have a little baby like me and Lulu?”
Dex again held back his initial surprised response and coughed. Then he shook his head.
“Not yet. Maybe after we become husband and husband.”
“But Mom and Mama had me and Lulu before they were wife and wife.” She tilted her head to the side, questioning the validity of Dex’s words.
Dex felt a headache coming. He really didn’t know how to explain that situation to a kid. Let alone a situation he clearly didn’t know the full story about.
“Hey, how about we go ask Kloh to get some cookies before dinner?” He changed subjects.
“Yes! Let’s get some cookies. Lulu! Dex is gonna get us cookies!” She turned to her brother who looked over after being called.
Dex let out a breath of relief after successfully changing the subject. Kloh came over with Lyca. Lyca excitedly chatted with Annette as they closed the distance between the two.
“How about you guys go help Mom and we’ll go get the cookies for you?” Kloh suggested.
The two cherubs nodded a lot and squirmed out of their holds. Once out down they held hands and scurried into the kitchen. As soon as they were out of sight Dex slapped Kloh’s shoulder.
“Ow. Domestic abuse.” Kloh complained with a small laugh.
“Not funny. How could you forget something like a wife and kids when mentioning your mom?” Dex pinched his side again.
Kloh fended off the attacking hand. He gave Dex a helpless smile.
“I’m sorry. I genuinely forgot.” He whispered as to not let anyone hear.
“Kloh! I was promoted to husband by a six year old.” Dex scolded him.
“Husband? Funny, Lyca asked me if we were together like his Mom and Mama. When I asked why he asked, he said he wanted more babies to play with.” Kloh chuckled.
“Annette basically asked me the same thing. Never thought I could be caught off guard by a child.” Dex mumbled and covered his face.
“I told him we’ll be husbands in the future like his parents.” Kloh grinned at Dex.
Dex pinched him. “Don’t corrupt the youth.”
“I’m being honest. I look forward to calling you husband in the future.” Kloh smiled and tugged on Dex’s ear.
Dex’s heart sped up. Husbands? Marriage? Was Kloh thinking so far into the future? Should he be thinking that far in the future? Where would they get married? What about his career? What about kids? Would Kloh be a stay at home parent? Would he have to do it? He started to spiral into questions. A soft kiss against the back of his hand brought him back to the present.
“Don’t think so hard. I won’t rush you into anything. Boyfriends is a great place to be for now. Plus we’re both in school. And I’m sure you have a whole career planned out. I’ll do my best to fit into your plan without changing it too much.” Kloh smiled up at him.
The panic and anxiety eased. Dex took a deep breath and nodded in agreement. Kloh grinned and placed another kiss on his hand.
“Let’s go steal some cookies before we’re confronted by two little humans.” Kloh’s eyes sparkled with laughter.
Dex laughed and took his hand. Kloh skillfully took them past the dining room and to the kitchen. Aida was moving around the kitchen with a pink frilly apron. Her hair was tied up in a messy ponytail. Next to her was Lyca and Annette who were extremely focused on putting chocolate chips onto a pan of uncooked cookie batter. The two little ones were chatting loudly. Kayle was watching over them with a smile, making sure each cookie had the same number of chocolate. Aida laughed at something Lyca or Annette said and for a moment Dex could see the exact resemblance between Kloh and his mother.
Kloh stood in the doorway frozen. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d seen his mother laugh so carefree, so happily. The four of them looked like a picturesque happy family. Something out of a stock image. Kayle reached over and wiped off some flour that found its way onto Aida’s face. Aida said something and Kayle laughed and winked at her. Aida patted the little cherub heads and they called out to her sweetly, asking for some of the baked cookies set aside already. Kloh felt a stuffiness in his chest. Clearly he knew his mother wasn’t the cold heart bitch he made her out to be. Clearly she could love and be happy. Clearly she did like kids.
Clearly……… it was just Kloh she didn’t like.
His eyes stung. He closed them tight, fighting back emotions that he didn’t even know existed. Dex noticed the change in Kloh and turned towards him. There was barely a noticeable devastated look on Kloh’s face. Dex looked back at the cozy family then at Kloh who had shut his eyes tightly. For some reason his own heart ached. He quietly stepped in front of Kloh, blocking his view of the room.
“Excuse me, I…….uh…..sorry to interrupt. But my dad called, my grandparents arrived earlier than we expected and they keep asking for me. We may have to leave.” Dex easily lied.
“Oh! When did you guys get here?” Aida looked a bit startled as she turned to Dex.
“Oh no! So soon, appetizers haven’t even been served yet.” Kayle asked with a light frown.
“It’s alright, we knew they wouldn’t be able to stay long anyway. I’m grateful they showed up at all.” Aida smiled at Kayle and patted her arm.
Dex smiled regretfully.
“We haven’t been formally introduced. I’m Aida.” Aida wiped her hand on the apron, walked over and held out a pale manicured hand.
Dex took her hand and shook it.
“I’m Dex. So nice to meet you. You have a beautiful home.” Dex smiled at her.
“Thank you. Where’s Kloh?” She looked behind him.
“I’m here.” Kloh cleared his throat and stepped out from behind Dex.
There was a detached look on his face that Dex had never seen before. But it made him very worried. But he held himself back from asking questions.
“Glad to see you here.” Aida said to Kloh, the smile a bit more stiff than before.
“Wish I could say the same.” Kloh muttered.
“Kloh. Not today.” Aida gave him a pointed look and he looked away avoiding her look.
Just then Dex’s phone beeped several times in a room. He apologized and quickly pulled it out to read it. It was just Wesley checking in.
“Sorry, they keep asking where I am. We don’t get to see each other often so they can sometimes be adamant. I’m sorry.” Dex smiled regretfully.
Aida shook her head.
“I understand. The invite was very last minute. Like I said, I am already thankful you managed to drop in.” Aida smiled.
Kayle nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I know you two are busy with school. Like Aida said, we’re thankful you got here.”
“Thank you for inviting us.” Dex replied.
“Well at least take some cookies before you go. We can reschedule dinner for a different day. I’m sure Lyca and Annette would love to see you two again.” Aida said to Dex, as though she thought she could get through to Kloh through Dex.
And she was probably right. Kloh wouldn’t decline the dinner invite if Dex wanted to go. Dex knew what she was doing but still agreed because he felt bad for lying while the two pairs of green eyes stared at him with sadness. Kayle started to pack Tupperware with freshly baked cookies. Aida mentioned that there was something she wanted to give Dex and went to get it. Lyca and Annette climbed out of their chairs and went over to the two. They looked up at the two with pitiful eyes.
“Will you be back?” Annette asked Dex.
“You have to come back, you promised to play legos.” Lyca told Kloh.
The withdrawn look on Kloh’s face melted as he looked at the two cuties. He squatted down and pinched Lyca’s cheek.
“I’ll be back to play legos with both of you.”
“I don’t like legos. I like cars.” Annette huffed.
“Then Dex can play cars with you. Isn’t that right Dex?” Kloh said as he patted Annette’s head.
“Yeah of course. I love cars.” He immediately replied.
The sad look the two cuties had was replaced with anticipation. They both had to pinkie promise before the two let them off. They happily skipped back to their cookie decorating. Kayle placed the full Tupperware into a cute banana covered tote bag and handed it to Kloh.
“Thank you. I’m sure they’ll love these.” Kloh managed a sincere smile for Kayle.
He actually liked her and the kids. They were fun and interesting people. How his mother managed to wiggle her way into their lives he wasn’t sure. And he didn’t care to find out. Why ruin their happiness because they had something he could only wish for as a child?
“Here it is.” Aida came out with a small black bag. “This is for you Dex. A little welcome to the family.”
Dex couldn’t recognize the label on the bag but he was very aware that it felt expensive. It looked similar to the bags that Wesley would get from Mars whenever the alpha deeply upset him and Wesley decided to ignore him. It usually contained high end cosmetics. Nothing that Dex had ever used.
“Oh no I couldn’t take a gift from you. Especially when I haven’t brought you anything in return.” Dex quickly declined.
“Please take it. Otherwise it would be a waste of money.” She urged and slipped it onto his wrist.
She lightly held Dex’s hands and squeezed his hand.
“From omega to omega, sometimes it’s nice to have something expensive just to feel lavish.” She winked at him.
Dex blushed a bit. He didn’t exactly get the notion but still nodded along. Kloh rolled his eyes.
“I’ll definitely repay this gift.” Dex awkwardly said.
Aida laughed and shook her head.
“No need. Actually maybe you can help me get Kloh to be a little more agreeable. You’re his boyfriend, he’ll listen to you. Me? I’m just his mother.” She said playfully and laughed.
“So you’re aware that I’m also your child.” Kloh whispered lowly but the ones closest to him could still hear it. Basically everyone but the two kiddies.
“Kloh.” Aida sent him a look again but once again he ignored her.
Instead he reached and took Dex’s hands from hers. He turned to Kayle and smiled.
“Thank you again for having us. I’m sure you’re the one who asked her to invite us. Sorry that it had to end so quickly. I’d love to play with the kids again. But for now we’ll be on our way.”
Kayle smiled back and nodded. She looked between Aida and Kloh but ultimately didn’t say anything. Dex also said his goodbyes to everyone. After promising the kids a second time that they would come back to play, the two left the warm home and got into the car. Kloh hurriedly pulled out of the driveway and drove away. They drove in a terse silence before Dex found the energy to say something.
“Kloh? You okay?” He whispered.
“Let’s talk about it later.” Kloh replied, his voice cracked a bit at the end. “Please.”
Dex nodded quickly. “Later then.”

Sooooooo it’s still technically the same day. 😬 yeah this chapter went in a completely different way than I originally intended but it still came out pretty well if I say so myself.
Be warned Aida is gonna become more human and likable I’m the following chapters although I don’t want her too 😣😣😣 but that’s they way the creative juices are flowing at the moment
