Also, about the islanders… It appears that they’re al kinds of people from all kinds of walks of life, but none of them were “islanders”, “villagers” or “fishers” before arriving on this island. It’s like artificial memories covering the real memories, but what is artificial and made up will never be as precise as what one experienced themselves.
So there must be a mastermind behind all of this. I wonder if there are original islanders, and they were replaced by these “fakes”, or if the “fakes” were lured onto the island for some reason. Then the wet footprints might belong to the “original” Xingye, and everyone might have such an “invisible copy” following them around.
But whatever it is in the end, probably something which I never would’ve thought of, this smells so much like mystery (fortunately not the sea and seafood, I don’t like those scents) that I’m very very very excited to read this arc.
