After Rebirth, I Returned to Miaojiang to Inherit my Family BusinessCh103 - The Great Tiankeng

It wasn’t just Wu Rong, Fu Qing, and their group. People in Jieyang City, the Guangdong-Guangxi Security Zone, the entire Asian Security Zone, and even powerful individuals worldwide were awakened from the depths of their souls by an eerie sense of dread. Rumbling sounds reverberated, the sea mysteriously receded, animals in the forest panicked and cried out, ghosts wailed, and the entire world was shaken. The Coffin Old Man who was fleeing in disarray, Angus, who was with Chief,  and countless other strong individuals all turned their gazes southward in unison.

“The Great Black Heaven…” HqxJ2i

Master Ling Yun, who had followed Fu Qing into the Ghost Territory, murmured to himself, his expression incredibly solemn.

“It’s about to begin.”

“What is that?”

Huang Mao was so frightened that he bit his tongue, and together with Su Xiaomi, they gazed toward the distant horizon. An overwhelming sense of suppressed terror caused the mosquitoes to hide behind Huang Mao, trembling. A partially transparent ghost stood tall, holding Su Xiaomi in his embrace, staring at the sky with vigilant black eyes. eyhRUM

What is that?

Wu Rong shared the same bewilderment as Huang Mao. The shadow’s massive figure was concealed behind the hazy clouds, with only its immensely large skull partially visible. Its three eyes were wide open, and its dark blue-black face bore a menacing expression. Its indigo mane stood upright, and it had a mouth full of bloody white tusks. A crown made of five skulls dripped with blood, and a huge yellow and white flower snake wrapped around his neck. The snake had no scales on its body, but it was dragging human skins with it!

An incomparably massive and sinister momentum descended, resembling a legendary mythical demon, a monstrous creature with boundless power!

Wu Rong’s headache reached an unbearable level, as if someone was wielding a chisel and relentlessly trying to bore through his skull. The intense pain plunged him into immediate darkness, and his body lost control, collapsing as he fell into unconsciousness. Wu Rong didn’t see the enormous shadowy visage of the Blue-Faced Demon Ghost instantly appear in the sky above Jieyang. Its crimson three eyes, as large as the sun and moon, seemed to be searching for something.

Nor did he witness the moment when Fu Qing and the Big Ghost moved simultaneously to catch him as he fell. In an instant, the two figures overlapped. The Big Ghost returned into Wu Rong’s body, and the bone-chilling sense of gloominess was instantly dispelled. Wu Rong fell into complete unconsciousness, cradled in Fu Qing’s arms. Fu Qing stood firm, holding Wu Rong upright, fearlessly locking eyes with the Demon Ghost.

In comparison to the colossal Demon Ghost, Fu Qing appeared incredibly small, even smaller than the tip of its fang. Yet, Fu Qing didn’t back down, standing resolute as a pine tree, protecting Wu Rong until the shadow slowly dissipated, merging into the pitch-black canopy of the sky.

Raindrops fell, creating dark spots on the earth. R2pldf

It was raining.

When Wu Rong woke up at the military hospital, a week had passed. He had never been unconscious for such a long period of time. Countless fragmented and intricate memories swirled in his mind like a kaleidoscope, filling his brain. As a result, when he opened his eyes, the world before him remained a mottled array of colors. His physical condition had fully recovered, reaching its peak state. The Zhong Gu was incredibly active, and his energy was boundless. Wu Rong felt refreshed and revitalized, never having felt so good before.

Until the moment he tried to shift his position on the bed, Wu Rong realized that he was completely immobilized, as if paralyzed! 8 0vEU

Countless thoughts raced through his mind, and he exerted all his strength to move, but he couldn’t even twitch a fingertip.

For the first time in his life, Wu Rong was gripped by intense panic. It wasn’t until the person who had been watching over him noticed his awakening and handed him a cup of perfectly warm water.

“You are in the final stages of body reshaping, so there will be some anomalies,” the person explained.

“Ah.”

What happened to that creature? What happened afterward? YriUP9

Wu Rong had many thoughts, but in reality, only a faint syllable escaped his lips. Just as he was contemplating how to express himself, Fu Qing spoke:

“It has dissipated; it wasn’t a physical ghost.”

“It was a phenomenon caused by the thick Ghost Qi gushing out on a global scale as the Great Tiankeng was about to unseal,”

A stranger’s composed voice came from the doorway, carrying a hint of mild amusement: “Just like a major volcanic eruption, it’s a normal natural phenomenon.” ALgjB2

The man who entered was clad in a white coat, holding a stack of documents. He had the air of a university professor – refined and gentle – making it easy to feel a sense of affinity.

“Hello, Mr. Wu, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

The newcomer pushed his glasses up and offered Wu Rong a friendly smile, “I am Tong Fuyuan, your assistant physician during this period.”

“Brothe Rong, you’re finally awake!” z1HfPu

Huang Mao’s excited and joyous voice echoed from the doorway. He rushed to Wu Rong’s bedside like a yellow whirlwind and stared at him intently. In no time, his eyes were slightly red, “You’re awake, that’s great, you’re awake! I thought… puh, puh, puh.”

He gave himself a couple of light slaps on the cheek, making his right cheek turn red, but his smile only grew wider, “Brother Rong will definitely be fine!”

As he spoke, Huang Mao noticed the unusual state of Wu Rong’s movements. He became alarmed and flustered, “Professor Tong, Professor Tong, look at this, what’s wrong with Rong Ge? Why can’t he move?!”

“It’s a self-defense mechanism of the body, don’t worry,” Tong Fuyuan explained in a calm and unhurried manner, exuding a strange and trustworthy aura, “A lot of Yin Qi has merged into his body. Normally, Mr. Wu’s body wouldn’t be able to withstand it and would collapse, turning him into a ghost.” zpcGtg

At this point, Tong Fuyuan squinted his eyes and smiled, “But obviously, Mr. Wu’s body is different. Right now, his body is absorbing and digesting this Yin Qi, forming stronger tissues. This almost evolutionary metabolic process requires a significant amount of nutrients and ample time, which is why Mr. Wu is experiencing this loss of control over his body.”

“However, there’s no need to worry; Mr. Wu’s healing ability is incredibly powerful. He’ll be fully healed in another day or two.”

“That’s good, that’s good.”

Huang Mao was completely focused on Wu Rong, satisfied that he was alright. Fu Qing remained silent and reserved, essentially only focused on Wu Rong. It was only when Su Xiaomi arrived that Wu Rong would fully learn about everything that had happened during this time. d4 QB7

“Zhou Jin completely recovered five days ago. He stayed by your bedside for three days and then went on to inherit Zhou Xinhong’s inheritance. I heard he’s donating it all to a Hope Elementary School.”

The sound of a wheelchair rolling echoed in the corridor as Huang Mao personally pushed Wu Rong’s wheelchair, while Su Xiaomi chattered on the side, “Brother Bai is still asleep, but his health is quite good. He’ll wake up once we leave Jieyang.”

“Amitabha, Wu Rong, you’ve finally woken up.”

Not long after leaving the hospital room, Wu Rong’s group encountered Hui Xin and Zhou Xun, who had come to visit. Seeing Wu Rong awake, Hui Xin was so happy that he didn’t even use his usual address of ‘Benefactor Wu, instead calling him by name affectionately and walking briskly to Wu Rong’s side. However, Wu Rong’s gaze fell on the figure standing beside Zhou Xun, an old monk dressed in a red monk’s robe with wrinkles all over his face. EOsJR3

He had a fierce expression that certainly didn’t make him seem like a good person at first glance. There seemed to be a hint of bloodthirstiness emanating from him. Even when he narrowed his eyes and smiled, that menacing aura didn’t dissipate. It was as if he had been steeped in some malicious environment for too long, and even though he had returned to the normal world, he couldn’t erase the colors deeply ingrained into his very bones.

“Wu Rong, you’ve finally woken up!”

Zhou Xun held a basket of fruit in his hand, his face covered in stubble as if he hadn’t rested for a long time. He noticed Wu Rong’s gaze and smiled, introducing the person beside him,

  2SUamW

“This is Venerable Upalavanna.”

“Or you might be more familiar with the name the Iron Staff Monk.”

The Iron Staff Monk was an undercover agent sent by the Ministry of Public Security into the Secret Lotus Congregation. That was many years ago. Upalavanna, in Sanskrit, meant Blue Lotus. His mentor informed him of his true identity before passing away, so after passing the Tantric assessment, he left the Tibetan region and came down from the mountains to repay his debt of gratitude. It wasn’t until Upalavanna coincidentally learned about Zhou Xinhong’s heinous deeds and the Daytime Empress’ aftermath that he took action.

He was well aware of his limited power as an individual. Eventually, he managed to establish contact with the General Bureau of Public Security. He infiltrated Zhou Xinhong’s organization as a mole, gaining his trust through numerous tests. Upalavanna was then sent to Fei Chen’s Blue Lotus division. In reality, he covertly transmitted information about both the Secret Lotus Congregation and the Zhou family to the authorities. He was a triple agent. tYJ0zN

“This time, when Zhou Xinhong sent his double to the Seven Treasures Monastery and planned to leave the Asian Union Security Zone himself, it was thanks to the information from Venerable Upalavanna that we were able to prevent a major failure.”

Zhou Xun sighed and then suddenly thought of something, “Do you want to go and see Zhou Xinhong’s execution site? It happens to be this afternoon.”

“Can I go?” MLJtAy

Feeling the gaze of Wu Rong, Zhou Xun scratched his head and whispered, “Actually, it’s about the Daytime Empress. She wants to see you.”

The Daytime Empress not only wanted to see Wu Rong but also explicitly stated that she would only reveal information about the Saintess Vivian’s remains if she met him.

Wu Rong had no idea that the Daytime Empress still existed and held such a fixation on him. However, he was indeed interested in any information regarding the Saintess’ remains. As he suspected, the Big Ghost probably released another seal, which might genuinely connect him to the Seven Great Tiankengs. Wu Rong wanted to learn more about them.

“Thanks to you waking up today, we have this opportunity for just one day.” z8P2Sx

On the way to the execution site in the outskirts, Zhou Xun expressed his feelings to Wu Rong, “Zhou Xinhong has been sentenced to capital punishment today, and after his death, the Daytime Empress will also dissipate. You can see her for the last time.”

Due to the solemnity of the execution, outsiders were generally not allowed to witness it. Su Xiaomi and Huang Mao didn’t accompany them, only Fu Qing and Tong Fuyuan, who was responsible for monitoring Wu Rong’s physical condition. The execution site was secluded and open, and it was raining today. The heavy rain poured down, soaking the crimson flag on the flagpole. It was the only touch of color in the gloomy and cold atmosphere.

“Capital punishment is the Federation’s most brutal punishment, usually reserved for heinous criminals.” k8UM4R

Bai Mei’s soul, which had injected most of her hatred into Zhou Xinhong’s body, was already extremely weak, on the verge of dissipating. Fu Qing’s Yang Qi was too strong; a single burst of it might make her vanish instantly. So, when they arrived at the execution site, it was Tong Fuyuan who took over Wu Rong’s wheelchair, pushing him towards the temporary cell of the death row inmate.

“The prisoner will first be killed using special methods on the physical body, and then the intact soul will be confined to the Great Tiankeng.”

This well-known spirit medium professor from Tianda, the Capital, had no airs, conversing with Wu Rong as if they were old friends. His knowledge was vast, and he was affable in conversation, always providing ample topics. Even if Wu Rong didn’t speak, he could go on talking by himself:

“The Great Tiankeng can devour everything. All souls that fall into it will undergo cruel torture and eventually disintegrate into nothingness. It’s not that ghosts become stronger when they return to the Great Tiankeng; in fact, the ghosts or creatures that appear from Yin Qi or after people die are different from those who were born within the Great Tiankeng itself. Even if a Ghost King is thrown into the Great Tiankeng, the result is the dissolution of their soul.” Ht148W

“If anyone could escape from the Great Tiankeng, they would undoubtedly be a terrifying entity of extreme power.

He chuckled, “Daytime Empress, wouldn’t you agree?”

”Tong Fuyuan pushed Wu Rong’s wheelchair, and the two of them had arrived in front of the temporary cell. Through the iron fence, they could see Zhou Xinhong lying on the ground like a lunatic, foaming at the mouth, struggling and convulsing, as well as the ethereal figure of Bai Mei, reduced to a mere outline.

“There’s no surveillance inside.” JdzGL4

Tong Fuyuan handed the remote control of the electric wheelchair to Wu Rong. “The Daytime Empress just wants to talk to you.”

The cell door opened and closed. Since leaving the hospital and arriving here, Wu Rong had already regained some control over his body. It was estimated that in another half a day, he would nearly be back to normal. The wheelchair carried him into the cell, and he looked at the Daytime Empress. Just as Zhou Xun had said, this woman’s soul had weakened to an extreme point, to the extent that it was almost at the lowest level of ghostliness, devoid of any attack power.

As her strength diminished, her ghostly appearance approached more closely to her living state. Her sunlight-like golden hair cascaded, and her exquisite emerald eyes were both noble and profound.

‘Your ghost originates from the Great Tiankeng.’ 6qMLBE

Bai Mei clearly didn’t look at Wu Rong, nor did she open her mouth, but her voice resounded in his ears.

‘You don’t know about this matter, right?’

  1. That’s where it ends when I’m catching up?? Well fine then I’ll come back again later, when I’ve once again forgotten the names of most of the side characters…

    Thank you for the chapter!

  2. lol not Nan: *wink wink * over there xD also now I’m confused if he originated from the great Tianke then is it still possible he’s Fu Qing’s missing soul? What if Fu Qing was in the great Tiankeng and escaped but part of his soul (Nan) was trapped there until he escaped and found Wu Rong… but then what connection does he have with Wu Rong? Did he really not kill Wu Rong because of the paper crane? What if all of this is just some kind of time-loop where the great Tiankeng existed because of Fu Qing and Wu Rong, I’m still sticking with my theory that Wu Rong and Fu Qing existed in another lifetime as different people in world 0 (I’m calling it world 0, world 1 is ghost king Wu Rong, world 2 is normal Wu Rong, and world 3 is normal Wu Rong in ghost world) my delulu world is so crazy but this is it: Fu Qing existed in a time where the first Tiankeng opened to the world, he and Wu Rong of that timeline fell in love, Wu Rong died or was seriously ill somehow? (Prob tragic death) Fu Qing wanted to revive/save him and was branded as evil, he was tortured and died miserably but still couldn’t save his beloved, so half his soul stayed due to unfulfilled obsession while the other half was purified by a monk and that soul went into the cycle of reincarnation… I’m not joking when I say this is the closes I’m getting to guessing the plot 😀
  3. Most like it was Fu Qingnan (I think that was his name? Yknow, one of the nine heroes) himself who ‘created’ Fu Qing. Unknown to the rest of his family, which is why Fu Qing was only recently recognized as one of them. If I’m not remembered it wrongly, the hero Fu Qingnan didn’t simply ‘died’. He jump onto one of the great tiankeng and never come back, which is why he’s considered to be dead. So Fu Qing ‘birth’ would definitely be related to that. Not to mention it was the Fu hero who was killed the bone ghost king, where MC found the big ghost.
