世子 shizi – This term is specifically reserved for sons of kings in line to inherit their fathers’ thrones (compared with 太子 taizi for sons of emperors). In English a good equivalent would be “hereditary prince,” which is a mouthful, so I’m keeping the pinyin and capitalization intact. Don’t confuse it with shizun 师尊!
