Who could have imagined that this vast empire started out on a tiny abandoned planet sentenced to death, one that lacked any resources of its own. The forsaken people of this abandoned planet survived only on the charity of other countries.
The Federation, as well as neighbouring countries, would come at regular intervals to drop off basic supplies for one simple, cruel reason. They needed this planet and the people on it to form the first line of defense against the insects. In other words, they were raising people like livestock, as living barricades to fend off the insect tide.
At the same time, because there was no military presence on this planet and it lacked the means to defend itself, exiled galactic pirates flocked to this place from all over and engaged in indiscriminate plunder.
Every rebellion ended in failure, every riot bringing only meaningless bloodshed. A past akin to hell marked the beginning of the Empire. A humiliation every one of its citizens was taught to remember from childhood.
This situation went on for millennia until the Grantz appeared.
The original Grantz picked up broken swords off the battlefield and beheaded the galactic pirates. Planting their bloodstained flags on the piles of insect carcasses and pirate corpses, they led the survivors to expand their territory at a ludicrous pace with that forsaken planet at the epicenter.
Even the Federation, who still criticized the Empire’s way of doing things as too inhumane and brutal to this day, had to acknowledge what the Grantz achieved. Their glory was still being celebrated to this day.
Yet the honourable Grantz, the glorious Grantz, the Grantz who single-handedly established the vast Empire of today…

It was common for these children to quickly deteriorate after being deprived of psychic soothing for too long. A slow death spiral of alternating psychic meltdowns and never-ending pain awaited them.
“Are there no other options?”
The doctor was determined. He was unwilling to set aside his own beliefs that this future Level S should be protected at all costs. Having Ye Zhiyuan go find Ye Muo’s biological parents as soon as possible was the most expedient and effective treatment plan.
“There are, but other methods will more or less leave lasting aftereffects. Generally speaking, finding his biological parents as soon as possible is the best option–”

“In all this time, I’ve only seen two such children who appeared to gradually lose receptivity to the psychic soothing agent. One was an orphan in an orphanage for whom the soothing agent failed when he was still halfway through his psychic development period.
The other was the little young master of the Clinton family, who was intolerant of the soothing agent from the beginning. His parents were trapped on a fringe planet due to the Planet No. 2 Rebellion incident for three years.”
“Both survived. The first child had milder symptoms, perhaps due to the medical team in charge of his care constantly injecting him with suppressant agent. However, he often lost control of his psychic power even after his development period and suffered from lasting nerve pain. Six years later, he committed suicide with a firearm.”
“I’m unsure about the methods used in the second case, but that child is hale and healthy in every way aside from some emotional irritability. Personally, I think that might just be how he is rather than an aftereffect.”
The doctor couldn’t help but add.
“I’ve always wondered which medical team the Clintons hired, but they did an excellent job of keeping things under wraps. What they achieved is virtually impossible in theory.”
Ye Zhiyuan forcibly directed the conversation back on topic.
“How much time do I have?”

He thought for a moment before tentatively saying.

Ye Yun shot to his feet in anger. This again.
“No. I was talking about how you have to stay with me except during classes. No more hanging out with those losers in Class D.”
Ye Muo finally lifted his head to glance at Ye Yun at that. In the end, he couldn’t help but mumbled dejectedly, “I’m in Class D too. Many of my friends are there. They’re really good to me.”
Ye Yun froze for a beat. This was the first time Ye Muo showed this kind of hurt expression in front of him. Usually, he would silently endure every one of his unreasonable requests.
He wanted to say something to redeem himself, but he didn’t know what to say.
Finally, he turned away to get a bandage for Ye Muo’s arm. After who knew how many injections, fresh blood seeped out of the area as soon as he shifted.
“Anyways, just remember that I’ll be coming to get you after class. We’ll eat and do everything else together. I know you don’t want to be stuck with me– the feeling’s mutual, by the way– but these are Father’s orders. I don’t have a say either.”
Finally, he added like an afterthought.
“If you want to be with your friends, I guess I can stick around. But we have to stay together. Father’s orders.”
Ye Yun repeated once again.
Ye Mo quietly listened to Ye Yun. He suddenly spoke.
“I want to spend time with you.”
Ye Yun’s eyes widened. Ye Muo’s hair fell forward gently as he lowered his head. Ye Yun couldn’t see his eyes anymore, just his beautifully contoured lower jaw which seemed to be crafted out of precious porcelain.
“What?”
“I’m very happy to hear that. I like spending time with Big Brother.”
Yet Ye Yun twisted his head away, somewhat speechless.
“W-well I don’t, um, exactly mind spending time with you. After all, you’re so weak that you’ll attract all sorts of trouble if I’m not there.”
So YZY knew all along?? And being an illegitimate child was a ruse? Why did he lie to his wife? This reminds me of game of thrones…
Hopefully he has a better reason for doing this then “restore my family’s honor”.

Thanks for the chapter! Based on the intro to the story, perhaps Ye Muo was conceived to carry on the Grantz family in spite of the current emperor’s refusal to have kids? And YZY has taken a huge risk to save and protect a child who isn’t supposed to exist? He mentioned risking the death of the Ye family by doing this, so I’d say this is not authorized…. I love the dynamics of the family. They really seem to care about Ye Muo, but apart from the mother are horrible at expressing it.
I’m not really sure about this but in my opinion, the mother is actually a good person. Ye Muo mentioned that she was sincere, even worried for his health so much. Her way of expressing her affection isn’t that bad either. But I agree with you, the dynamics of the family is very much cute and better than I expected!

awww I am so happy Papa Ye is not the scumbag I was worried he’d be. But I am definitely curious as to why he risked so much to save the kid. I have a feeling his dad was somehow related to Ye Muo’s birth and maybe that’s how he knew about him and why he risked so much to bring him back
