The whole, “You can only truly love one person your whole life, and if they die you have to stay alone forever or follow them,” standard is a pretty common unwritten rule of this type of novel though. A ton of people wouldn’t read a QT model that wasn’t 1v1 or even a novel where one of the leads wasn’t a virgin. To me Gu Bai criticizing that logic is like a cartoon character saying that someone would die if they got hit on the head with an anvil. Like yes that would happen in the real world but in the world you live in they’d just go flat like a pancake and then return to normal in the next scene.
    • I think you’re quite right. But, I’m one of them who refuse to read a QT novel with different ML in different arc. As it’s too dog-blooded and I’m one of those who just can’t tolerate harem or even love triangles and I really can’t choose one of them at the same time all of them. In this way, these QT stories with 1v1 is really quite cute and after you know the lead’s background it gets clear why they only and only love each other. Well at least the QTs I read till now including this one has the plot where the leads were inseparable lovers in their original world but due to circumstances and enemies or situations they got separated. So it makes sense. However, here XYF is in the wrong as he didn’t even tried to think for a second that this might be because of survival or something. I read many BL novel’s some with the same setting of XYF and RY setting but none of them was as stupid as XYF. So. yeah. Also about the leads being virgin or something it’s quite chinese novel thing to do where in KR or Western novels one or even both leads aren’t virgin and have experience which I don’t mind though. Being each other’s first time is somewhat cute and I saw some CN with leads having experience before.

      I hope you don’t mind this comment as I just wanted to share my opinions who would never read 1vMany in a QT novel unless the plot is really good. Also I really don’t mind Gu Bai’s comment on it as both of them from different situations. Even I would mind if I know my partner who promised me to love forever suddenly flips and have partners(also so many. ML you crazy!!) Also I don’t believe RY never slept with XYF prior Gu Bai’s took over. I guess
