Forget how savage Su Mu looked just earlier; once he was in front of Baili Wuchang, he completely lacked the ability to retaliate.

Su Mu cut a sorry figure after he tumbled to the ground. His face was confused and pained, but a laugh escaped from his throat, making him seem rather crazy. EoKVdN

Su Mu welcomed the way Baili Wuchang glared daggers into him. In a low voice, he said, “What? Lord Baili’s starting to get involved in the ways of the living world? As a ghost envoy, that’s prohibited. Lord Baili, don’t you know?”

Baili Wuchang’s expression wasn’t good to begin with. Hearing Su Mu speak, his face grew even more grim. He said coldly, “You really do have issues.”

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Su Mu stood with difficulty, brushing out the wrinkles of his suit as he said, “What a pity. My issues are not Lord Baili’s business.”

He said this plainly and simply before exiting out the washroom door. FL0HYV

Wen Nuan had just thought, The guest from Room 404 was going to beat someone up again!!! But though Su Mu truly looked like he needed a beating, if they really did start a fight here and other people came in, the consequences would be bad.

Wen Nuan sighed. Supporting the dispirited An Xiangbei, he asked, “Senior An, how are you?”

An Xiangbei’s reaction was delayed. He stiffly shook his head, smiling awkwardly. “I’m fine. Thanks, Wen Nuan.”

Wen Nuan promptly waved his hand and said, “No need to thank me. Actually, you should thank Mr. Baili. I couldn’t do anything myself.”

Wen Nuan raised his head as he said this, but the washroom was empty of said figure. There was no trace of Baili Wuchang, and nobody knew when he had gone.

“He left so quickly…” Wen Nuan blinked. “I didn’t have the chance to thank him.”

“Wen Nuan…”

An Xiangbei said, “Um, I…I want to go back to the staff dorms to change. In any case, you can go back to the lobby front desk.” pA3ycd

Wen Nuan heard this and noticed An Xiangbei’s clothes. They were unreasonably wrinkled, and a button was missing from the top of his shirt. The collar even had a few drops of fresh blood.

“Senior An, are you hurt?” Wen Nuan asked, shocked.

An Xiangbei shook his head. “No, don’t worry. I’m not hurt, and it’s not my blood.”

Though An Xiangbei’s collar had blood on it, the blood wasn’t his, but Su Mu’s. hv8j4X

Wen Nuan was a bit startled, but though An Xiangbei’s face was a bit pale, other than that, he seemed fine.

He let out a breath and said, “Then that’s good.”

An Xiangbei wanted to go back to the staff dorms and change, as well as calm down a bit. Wen Nuan could understand this very well, so he immediately agreed.

The two walked out from the washroom, ready to leave the banquet hall and part ways. 4Em1TI

Nobody could foresee that as soon as they exited the washroom, a loud sound came from the banquet hall with a “rumble”, like something had exploded. The surroundings plummeted into darkness in a flash. It was too dark to even see your hand in front of your face.

What followed was a “smash, clink—” sound from overhead that poured down in torrents.

Someone shouted, “The chandelier fell!”

Wen Nuan raised his head, but everything in front of his eyes was dark, so he couldn’t see anything at all. zyToIa

Someone grabbed Wen Nuan, pressing him into their own chest. Wen Nuan caught a whiff of a light fragrance, but it was different from usual men’s cologne. It had an odd scent that was hard to describe, but it was bitingly cold, like the unique scent on the body of the guest from Room 404.

The banquet hall suddenly had an explosion, and countless shards of the chandelier scattered down on people’s heads. It was like a downpour made of glass, showering them from above.

Baili Wuchang protected Wen Nuan, his eyebrows tightly knitted as he asked simply, “Were you hurt?” gnjUvP

“No, but your face…” Startled, Wen Nuan pointed at him.

Baili Wuchang’s face had a small cut, definitely from one of the flying shards of glass. Because he wanted to protect Wen Nuan from the glass fragments, he couldn’t avoid getting hurt on his own.

Wen Nuan stared at that tiny cut, his heart extremely distressed. This absolutely perfect face was hurt, and it was because of me; I’ve committed a sin!

“Mur…Murder! Help!” eM4klx

Wen Nuan hadn’t finished grieving when a nearby voice shouted out, ear-splittingly loud, piercing through the entire crowd.

The dark room was originally a mess, but after hearing this scream, it became even more of an uproar.

“Bang—”

In the midst of all the cries, the lighting system was suddenly restored, bringing light back to the hall. LDlAw4

Wen Nuan turned his head to see what exactly had happened.

“My god, murder!”

“There’s actually been a murder!”

There stood a woman in a formal dress, her hand clutching a long, sharp knife. The blade was covered in blood, ceaselessly drip, drip, dripping. de9rvF

The woman’s eyes were furious, her face sinister and her voice scathing. “I killed you! I killed you! You’re a murderer! I killed you as revenge for my father!”

It was Yang Jie, the lady who had caused trouble and injured An Xiangbei just this morning.

Wen Nuan had just seen her in her formal wear earlier, clutching a white purse. The purse was likely hiding something…

And looking at things now, that purse had probably been hiding this knife. irFbTY

Yang Jie looked like the devil, her lips moving ceaselessly. She suddenly stopped to scream, “That’s right, that’s right! I killed you! I killed you! It’s all your fault! It’s all because of you!”

She shouted and raised the knife again, scaring the surrounding onlookers who cried out in fear.

The event security team charged in, seizing her and taking away her knife.

At the same time on the side, An Xiangbei exclaimed in alarm, “Mr. Su?!” and ran over. 5edVEu

Su Mu stood in front of the woman who had been holding the knife. He leaned against the wall, a hand covering his left rib cage, blood seeping out between his fingers.

The person who the woman stabbed was evidently Su Mu.

“Mr. Su, are you okay? I’ll call an ambulance right now!” An Xiangbei was extremely tense. However, since he was on a shift, he didn’t have his personal phone on him. When he reached into his pockets with trembling hands, he couldn’t find anything.

“Don’t mind me.” Dy584V

Su Mu acted as if his injuries weren’t that severe. He still had the energy to wave An Xiangbei away. Though his left rib cage had been stabbed, it was probably just a superficial wound, and it looked worse than it was.

Su Mu pushed An Xiangbei away, his footsteps unsteady as he walked out of the hall.

Several of the security staff members stared at him blankly. They chased after him calling, “Sir! Sir, you’re injured! Sir, you…”

“How strange…” fTNPxd

Wen Nuan glanced at the hysterical Yang Jie, as well as Su Mu, who had just left. He felt like his brain had been tied into knots. Why were these two behaving so strangely?

No, it wasn’t just these two who were strange…

“Huff, huff, huff—”

Wen Nuan’s train of thought was interrupted by someone’s rough panting next to his ear. Turning his head, he saw Baili Wuchang behind him acting even stranger. KjTmQr

Baili Wuchang covered his eyes with both his hands. He was stooped over, as if he was injured and the pain was severe. His unstable breathing sounded like that of a wild beast.

“Guest?!”

Wen Nuan was shocked. Did the glass shards from earlier pierce his eyes?

“Don’t come over…” YH5LRy

Wen Nuan had only partially extended a hand when Baili Wuchang stopped him.

Baili Wuchang fumbled around in his suit pocket. From inside, he procured a pair of black sunglasses, quickly putting them on.

Once his sunglasses were on, Baili Wuchang finally let out a sigh of relief. He slowly stood upright again, shooting an indifferent glance at Wen Nuan before turning to leave the banquet hall.

Wen Nuan watched Baili Wuchang’s retreating figure. He couldn’t help whispering to himself, “What’s going on? He’s not hemophobic, is he? Why are all these people so strange?” 45RitY

The charity event had suddenly been thrown into chaos. The aftermath left for the workers to deal with was grand and complex. Of course, Wen Nuan was only a little front desk worker, so he didn’t need to worry about it. He had no other option but to leave the hall, returning to the lobby by himself.

“Wen Nuan, where’s An Xiangbei?”

As soon as he got to the front desk, someone called out to him.

Wen Nuan promptly walked over and said, “Senior Liu, An Xiangbei went to the dorms to change clothes. He’ll be back soon.” l9MVg6

“Oh, so it’s like that.”

Wen Nuan asked, “What’s the matter, Senior Liu? Did something happen?”

Xiao Liu said, “It’s not that big of a deal. Earlier, there was a guest who asked for a first aid kit to be sent over. But that guest specifically named An Xiangbei to send it over. So…”

Curious, Wen Nuan said, “Specifically asked An Xiangbei to send it over?” 3 1yJR

No wonder why as soon as Wen Nuan came back, Xiao Liu would ask for An Xiangbei’s whereabouts.

“Mhm.” Xiao Liu nodded, seemingly also confused. “Yeah, they called just earlier. It was the guest from Room 1115, Mr. Su.”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

“Mr. Su?” Wen Nuan was once again surprised.

Su Mu? dAIKQs

Xiao Liu felt a little vexed. “Forget it. I’ll send it over myself, then. It’s just a first aid kit; I don’t understand why there has to be someone specific to send it.”

“Senior Liu.” Wen Nuan intercepted her, pointing at his own nose and saying, “How about I go instead?”

Simultaneously, as Baili Wuchang left the banquet hall, he returned to Room 404. ipOdRa

Heibai Wuchang were in Room 404. When they saw Baili Wuchang come in wearing sunglasses, they were both surprised.

Hei Wuchang asked, “Boss, did you see blood?”

“No matter.” Baili Wuchang took his sunglasses off, putting them to the side. “It’s nothing now.”

Baili Wuchang’s true form was the ancient double-edged sword Baili. Bloodthirst was in Baili Wuchang’s nature. Baili Wuchang’s temperament was not easy-going to begin with, so if he saw that sort of strikingly scarlet color, he would get restlessly agitated from the bottom of his heart. ALkQdV

“Boss, we subordinates have something to report,” said Bai Wuchang respectfully, walking over.

Baili Wuchang nodded. “Speak.”

Bai Wuchang said, “We have a rough idea of who the runaway evil ghost is.”

“Right, right! We just found some leads,” Hei Wuchang impatiently added. “The other party is truly too cunning, stealing another person’s passport to come to the living world, hiding in the Hell Chain Hotel. Originally, Ol’ Bai thought the runaway evil ghost had disguised as a guest, but it turns out that’s not the case at all.” cikWBH

Bai Wuchang said concisely, “He is disguised as an employee.”

“An employee?” Baili Wuchang furrowed his brow.

“That’s right!” Hei Wuchang said excitedly. “We already checked with Fan Liangda. The hotel has an employee who recently went on vacation, returning to Hell for the holidays. Two days ago, this employee came back to continue working, but the one who came back wasn’t the original employee at all. It was the runaway evil ghost’s impersonation!”

Bai Wuchang said, “This employee’s name…is An Xiangbei.” ixH2EF

    • You already know this by now, but to my understanding, Su Mu is injured and he probably went back to his hotel room, while An Xiangbei is a ghost. Most likely the same person that Su Mu claims to have been responsible for his death (washroom scene).
