Agares and his group were not returning in triumph, but were luring the enemy deeper. It was obvious that the humans pursuing them were their target.

Just as I suspected, the merfolk didn’t directly hide in the cracks of the mountain but curved around the sea, leaping rapidly through the surging waves one after another. They formed a large moving circle of light, encircling the hundreds of human pursuit boats that were closely following them.

For a moment, there was a hail of bullets, and bursts of gunfire like flames, with the incessant sound of gunfire interweaving in the air. nRdBrX

However, for the speed at which the merfolk swam through the waves, hitting them with gunfire seemed as difficult as trying to shoot down a flying wasp with an arrow. The merfolk moved in a S-shape, and the encirclement rapidly became smaller and smaller. Under Agares’s command, the merfolk divided into three teams: one continuously emitted dazzling electric currents and continued to attack from long-ranges, another would suddenly emerge from underwater to wreak havoc near the pursuing boats, and the third would force the boats towards the area in front of the waterfall. Their efficiency in executing these actions was astonishing.

“Don’t reveal your whereabouts. The current situation is very dangerous.” Levjet raised his tail and swept me into the water, dragging me behind a rock.

I held my breath, nervously watching the scene outside. I saw that the black and blue medium-sized speedboats were now surrounded by merfolk within a defined area, trapped in a sea full of scattered reefs. It was as if they were playing a predetermined losing chess game, struggling like stranded whales with no way out. I could see the humans on those patrol boats panicking, too preoccupied with holding onto the boat to continue firing at the merfolk, in order to avoid falling into the water. They seemed to have realised that the roles had completely reversed, and humans were no longer the fishermen but had become trapped fish in a net.

My heart skipped a beat, and then I realised the impact of the misleading news reports that had circulated on the day the merfolk war began. We didn’t know where this news came from——the only way to escape when encountering merfolk on the sea was to kneel and worship them.

It was an utterly absurd admonition, and while some people took it seriously, others scoffed at it. But it was undeniable that humans have worshipped existences that have scared them since ancient times, especially in situations where they believe their lives were threatened. aglt9x

However, ironically, this had no effect whatsoever. The merfolk surrounding the boats, their scaley tails emitting a faint glimmer, looked like stars drawn together by a magnetic force in the dark night. They converged from all directions, densely packed, slowly closing in on the humans trapped on what seemed like an isolated island. At this critical moment, suddenly, I saw a figure falling straight down from above, crashing heavily onto a rock not far from me, emitting a dull sound of bones breaking.

I widened my eyes in shock, clearly seeing the mangled body sliding from the rock into the sea. The pale severed arm was held high, as if trying to touch the distant sky. As for his lower body, shining scales covered everything below the knees, still retaining the shape of human legs, yet swaying slightly in the water like a real fishtail due to the spasms of impending death.

A part of the merfolk in the area suddenly became restless, looking up towards the top of the waterfall. Even Agares was not an exception; there was no doubt they were all taken aback. Dozens of merfolk couldn’t contain themselves and swiftly swam downstream towards the waterfall, their upper bodies raised high, screaming loudly. But almost in the next second, in an instant, hundreds of figures fell from above, as if they were fallen angels willingly throwing themselves into hell, breaking their ties with the divine, as described in the Bible. In just a few seconds, the images of those taking their own lives passed like a dark cloud, making the night even darker. It was the blackness of death.

For a moment, I couldn’t bring myself to look away from the sky and to the sea, but I couldn’t stop my own gaze. weobg

On the rocks and in the sea, corpses lay scattered everywhere, and thick blood spread across the surface like a large patch of floating red algae, emitting a choking smell of blood. Over a hundred bloodied and broken bodies floated in the seawater, while those on the brink of death writhed on the rocks, as if desperately trying to free themselves from their legs. Those who were still alive climbed onto the rocks, howling in agony.

“Don’t kowtow down to them, they are demons, beasts! Quickly shoot them!”

“I would rather die than be caught by them!”

“Fuck off! Go away! You devils! You can’t harm us!” tNyOiB

“Shoot, you idiots!”

I heard the determination to die in the voices of those who survived, and the hatred that made people’s hearts throb.

The mermaids who lost their spouses either hugged the corpse and screamed and wailed, or were still looking for their spouses in confusion. Agares outstretched his arms, seemingly trying to call them back into position, but it was in vain. The scene fell into unprecedented chaos.

I watched all this in pain, feeling like I’d been struck by a heavy hammer, almost unable to breathe. doAJWy

At this moment, a bang of gunshot rang out, piercing through the sky, it was unknown who fired the first shot. The people on the boats immediately opened fire on the merfolk as if deeply provoked by the sight of this collective suicide. Any remaining hope and panic vanished, and the patrol boats, unable to handle higher speeds on the turbulent sea, rushed wildly in all directions. The merfolk’s encirclement had already fallen into chaos due to the recent tragedy, allowing several boats to break through the encirclement in an instant. However, Agares didn’t immediately order the merfolk to surround the remaining boats; instead, he organised them to retreat into the water, allowing the boats to scatter and eventually disappear on the sea’s surface.

All of these changes seemed to happen in an instant, and the sea fell silent after the turmoil. The remaining hundreds of merfolk were either cradling and searching for their deceased mates, or some of the surviving humans lay despairingly at the edge of the rocks, gazing at the distant sea. Others were desperately swimming towards where the boats had disappeared and were caught up. A group of mermaids blocked the way, trying to urge their chosen mates to stay, but they met with fierce resistance.

I closed my eyes, unable to bear witnessing such a tragic aftermath, and a heavy sense of guilt welled up within me. I couldn’t help but wonder, if I hadn’t awakened Davis, if I hadn’t let grief and despair spread among these captives, would this situation have happened? Could we have saved these hundreds of innocent lives? Perhaps if I hadn’t awakened them, they might have been lulled by the love of the merfolk, choosing to live on in submission to their fate in the ocean rather than erupting prematurely in anger and ultimately self-destruction due to sorrow. Damn it, would this kind of ending …… be better for them?

Continuously questioning my actions in my heart, I felt like my heart was being scratched and torn apart by countless invisible hands, as if my whole being was about to split in two. lh3zI

A webbed claw was placed gently on my back at this moment, comforting me with a light touch and wrapping around my waist, like a father in an ordinary family treating his injured son. My heart softened, and I whispered to Levjet, “Father, promise me, help me find Davis. I don’t want to give up even the slightest hope. If you find him, please take him away from here, to the land, okay?”

“Of course. But you must leave with me, child. This is for your future. As your father, I have to take responsibility for your life.” Levjet looked into my eyes with a gentle yet resolute tone. His words were as binding as nylon rope, making me realise that this was both his request and a condition for him to search for Davis on my behalf.

“No, I can’t leave Agares…”

I clenched my fists. At that moment, I caught sight of a blue light rising on the sea again. I turned to look and saw Agares emerging from the sea, but there were no followers surrounding him this time. The sea reflected his solitary figure. He floated in the water, deep in thought, gazing at the grieving and desolate merfolk below. He appeared as lonely and desolate as any defeated king in a war. 2zAksn

And I was acutely aware that Agares was such a proud ruler. It was easy to imagine that witnessing this uncontrollable turn of events was a huge blow to him.

So, as his lover, what reason did I have not to return to his side, to appease his emotions, and persuade him?

Thinking this way, I started swimming towards Agares, but then a rush of water hit me from behind. Before I could react, Levjet’s webbed claw firmly held me in his arms, dragging me back behind the rocks like a spider capturing a moth.

Translator’s note:- Hey guys, I’m back, my aunt left a while back and she’s the best, it’s just that you can’t translate anything much with her here. Anyhow I will try to complete my kofi’s(2 for this book) soon and ch 112.2 will get uploaded in a few hours. At first, I was thinking whether to just post ch 112 as a whole but then I was like it’s super big and then I was like there will be a cliff hanger if I split it in half then I was like there’s gonna be a cliff-hanger even if I don’t split it at the end of ch 112; anyway so I was like well, there’s a cliff no matter what sooo let’s just go with OG plan which was to split it in two. Hehehe Please support me on kofi as my(dad’s) laptop is finally on it’s last breath and it’s over 10+ years old and this is my only channel of earning money. WkBltJ

  1. Thank you for the chapter, and welcome back!

Honestly Levjet is going to force Desharow into something he doesn’t want just by my guess.

    ε-(´∀`; )

  2. Thank You for the Chapter!

Alright now what I hated in this chapter was human emotions. We are so fragile and let power sway us I swear. In any way it wasn’t Xiao De who led them to die, it was their own resistance to the change for a better future that led to it. Sashimi you better tell whatever you’re feeling to Xiao De once you find him “again” and also I kinda like Levjet… is anyone with me on this?

  3. Honestly, if I had to compare Agares to Levjet. In my opinion I think Agares is slightly better because at least he cares about Desharow. Levjet. . .. mehhhh. I feel like he’s just gonna dump desharow out after he’s done with him or either keep him locked up.

  4. Haven’t you learned? Humans are the greatest dangers out there even to themselves and their own kind. 😔

Desharow feeling pity for the people and now they’re being killed by their own. At least the merfolk would cherish their spouses.
