Internship and Choice (2)

Qi Feng’s phone rang at this point, and he answered it directly: “Hey, Mom, Ling Ke and I are going out to dinner… Oh, no, we haven’t eaten together in a few days, so we won’t be back in the evening. Return home and eat by yourself. Be good.” 7uDkJs

Ling Ke: “…”

Was this spoiling tone proper for a son to use when speaking to his mother? Even uttering the words “Be good”???

Oh no, we’re screwed…

Ling Ke tried his best to conceal the boiling jealousy in his heart, not wanting to be as “childish” as Qi Feng. JS A3H

He had no idea what Qi Feng had heard his mother say to make his eyes light up: “OK, I’ll ask him later.”

“Hey, my mother wanted me to ask you if you would consider going home with her after work,” he remarked directly to Ling Ke after hanging up the phone. “This way, you can travel with my mom when there is a live broadcast in the morning from Monday to Friday. You won’t have to get up early to catch the subway, and my mother can help you if you don’t comprehend something while reading at night!”

Ling Ke frowned. This was a good suggestion, and he was moved, but he wasn’t sure whether his folks would consent.

“I’ll go back and talk to my parents about it.” Ling Ke spoke with caution.

Qi Feng pushed enthusiastically: “You must be careful how you express it. Just pretend it’s for your schooling and career. Isn’t your father a fan of my mother? If necessary, you can also provide him with fan benefits. If they approve, I’ll be able to see you every day!”

When Ling Ke saw Qi Feng’s grin, the vinegar he had swallowed previously had changed into honey in his heart.

Ling Ke informed his parents about the situation when he returned home that night. Initially, Papa Ling and Mama Ling had no idea that Qi Feng was Jiang Ying’s son. Ling Ke also admitted that he received this internship opportunity through Qi Feng.

With such wonderful things, Ling Ke’s parents didn’t have enough time to be pleased, much less think of hindering him. They couldn’t wait to thank Jiang Ying in person for her support and care for their son. kQnoVN

“Will you inconvenience host Jiang’s family if you go to reside at her house?” Papa Ling rubbed his palms together.

Ling Ke: “I don’t think so. Host Jiang and her husband divorced a long time ago, and she lives with her son. If I go, I will stay in a room with Qi Feng.”

“What? Divorce? When did it happen?” Papa Ling was astonished.

“Aiya, she’s my goddess after all,” Papa Ling remarked wryly. “It’s gossip, okay, gossip… I swear I don’t have any improper thoughts about her! Don’t you like that Fei Xiang guy!” dCE4Qw

Mama Ling smiled as she snorted. She was only joking. She was especially happy about her son’s good luck: “You two father and son seem to have a predestined affinity with that host Jiang. One has been a long-time fan of hers, while the other is now a classmate of her son’s. Perhaps there will be an occasion to eat at the same table in the future.”

When he heard this, Papa Ling became excited once more and urged his son: “You must have a good relationship with Qi Feng, Ling Ke. By the way, when you go to live in someone else’s home, you should try to be courteous. Don’t break the rules, and make an effort to make a good impression on host Jiang!”

Ling Ke responded “mm,” but couldn’t help but laugh in his heart: Would you still say that if I told you I was in a relationship with her son?…

Ling Ke moved into Qi Feng’s home smoothly in this manner, but this did not herald the start of a happy life. PUzxiY

To begin with, after learning about Ling Ke and Qi Feng’s relationship, Dong Han, while not embarrassing him in any way, expressed a strong desire to gossip about the two sweethearts’ relationship, and even wondered what Jiang Ying thought of Ling Ke. In any case, she had a strange tone and a wolfish smile when she faced Ling Ke, which Ling Ke found to be an extreme pain in the ass.

Second, working as an intern around the clock during the day sapped practically all of Ling Ke’s energy. When Ling Ke returned home at night, he felt less capable than desirable in the face of Qi Feng’s insatiable harassment and demands.

What caught Ling Ke off guard even more was that the mother and son fought over his time every day, as if they were jealous of a love rival…

Ling Ke spent more time with Jiang Ying as a result of his job. In addition to professional aid, he had to assist Jiang Ying in purchasing breakfast, making coffee, preparing stomach medicine and reminding her to take it, and so on. Jiang Ying grew to appreciate and trust Ling Ke more and more during the process. Ling Ke, after all, was conscientious and down-to-earth, eager to learn, industrious and attentive, astute, and neither arrogant nor impetuous. What leader doesn’t want to meet this type of young man? EnlMgS

That evening, it rained heavily. Ling Ke was taken home by Jiang Ying. Ling Ke personally held up an umbrella for her after she got out of the car. Despite the fact that it was only a short trip through the yard from the gate, Ling Ke was completely drenched.

As a result, Qi Feng felt both upset and despondent. The complaints that had been accumulating for several days suddenly erupted: “Mom, who exactly is Ling Ke’s boyfriend? You don’t go out hunting for a partner; you only know how to squeeze my wife every day!”

Jiang Ying & Ling Ke: “…”

Qi Feng’s brainless rant made Ling Ke feel incomparably embarrassed: This idiot has no idea who I’m being so attentive and considerate for! Isn’t it to impress my future mother-in-law?! wxVNdj

Jiang Ying’s reaction was a burst of laughter. She snorted and smiled as she said: “This little bastard has begun to eat inside and out. What’s the harm in me using your boyfriend? Did I bully him or did I allow him to be wronged?”

Mother-in-law and “daughter-in-law” have been enemies since ancient times. Despite the fact that Jiang Ying liked Ling Ke quite a bit, she still wanted to mock him after accepting the situation.

Qi Feng gaped and was dumbfounded, unable to answer. He was a filial son who rarely argued with his mother. He was irritated with Jiang Ying just now because he did not receive enough attention from Ling Ke. As a result of being suffocated for words, his expression was unpleasant as he pushed Ling Ke to go upstairs and change clothes.

When they arrived at the upstairs bedroom, Qi Feng took a towel and placed it straight on Ling Ke’s head from behind. His tone was slightly irritated: “Do you want to take a shower first? You were soaked by the rain and then chilled by the air conditioner. Be careful of catching a cold.” I7E fu

Ling Ke smiled and said: “How can I be so delicate? I was only in the rain for a few seconds.”

“You’re practically soaked!” exclaimed Qi Feng.

“Help me find some clothing, I’ll change first,” Ling Ke said, grabbing the towel and removing the damp polo shirt while turning his back to Qi Feng.

He turned around after pulling it off to see Qi Feng staring at him avidly. Ling Ke’s cheeks flushed, and he instinctively reached for anything to cover himself up, but Qi Feng pounced on him. Qi Feng gave him a full-body hug from behind. v7dcSl

Ling Ke kissed him wet and hot before seizing the towel he had just thrown away and jamming it into his face: “What are you up to? Your mother is still waiting for us to come down for dinner!”

The rare good mood was shattered, and Qi Feng’s resentment reached 100 percent.

“All the clothes you brought are in the washing machine!” he exclaimed exasperatedly.

“How come you haven’t done them yet?” Ling Ke was too busy, so he could only travel home once a week, and he had brought only a few sets of clothes. udfNKA

“Isn’t it pouring outside? They’re all drenched. I’ll have auntie dry them for you tomorrow.” Qi Feng took a large T-shirt from his closet and tossed it to Ling Ke.

Ling Ke’s face grew hot, and he wore it directly.

They walked downstairs to eat dinner. After dinner, Jiang Ying requested Ling Ke to accompany her to her study for a bit, stating that she would chat to him later about the impact of politics on the economy and the stock market.

Qi Feng lifted his protest banner once more: “Mom, can’t you give Ling Ke a day off?” rCEy2p

Jiang Ying was flipping through the ipad to read the day’s headlines when she heard the words, and looked up to say: “Don’t I give him a day off every week?”

Qi Feng stated flatly: “That is insufficient. We’re currently on summer break. It shouldn’t be like this even if we intern!”

Jiang Ying swallowed a mouthful of digestive tea and casually poured chicken soup for the two young men, saying, “A person’s life is fair. Either use your youth to your advantage and suffer for a while, or be lazy now and work hard for the rest of your life. Despite the fact that you are on summer vacation, you are living at home, and I can guide Ling Ke when I have time in the evening. Who knows if you’ll have another chance like this in the future?” After saying this, she turned her head to gaze at Ling Ke, and earnestly enticed him: “If an opportunity presents itself, you must grab it with both hands, right Ling Ke? A character like Qi Feng, who enjoys ease and comfort but despises work, is completely undesirable.”

Ling Ke: “…” dXNyPv

She smiled as she looked at Qi Feng again. “Your lover is quite motivated. Do you intend to rely on him to support you in the future if you don’t keep up with him?”

In front of his sharp-tongued mother, Qi Feng deflated once again. He slammed the teacup down angrily and returned to the room alone.

Ling Ke frowned, concerned about his state of mind.

Jiang Ying: “Don’t worry about him. Since childhood, the amount of time he has spent arguing with someone has not exceeded half a day. He’ll be fine in a while.” 7piblh

Ling Ke became even more concerned when Jiang Ying said this. He knew Qi Feng had a good temper, but he had the impression that Qi Feng was a touch pitiful right now.

Ling Ke was a bit absentminded in his studies in the evening. Jiang Ying noticed it as well and calmly advised him to return to his room and rest.

When Ling Ke returned to the room, he discovered that Qi Feng was playing DotA by himself. When he heard him enter the door, he didn’t turn around.

Ling saw that he was having a good time and didn’t want to bother him, so he took a shower first. When he returned, he discovered that Qi Feng had already switched off the game and gone to bed. Behind him was a large pillow, and he held a men’s magazine in his hand, pretending to flip through it. MF9wdm

Ling Ke approached, wiping his hair and asking, “What’s up?”

Qi Feng pulled a face and ignored him.

Ling Ke dried his hair, flung the towel aside, stood alongside the bed, and began to undo his pajamas. He sniggered secretly in his heart as he observed Qi Feng sneaking peeks out of the corner of his eyes through the gap at the edge of the magazine.

Qi Feng had plainly begun to feel hyperactive and was struggling to keep from pouncing on him. Yir8sZ

  1. Thank you for pointing out the use of the word wife!!! I always get so pissed off whenever authors use that because,,, they’re not a woman, they’re a man. That being said if the character is trans/hinted at being trans then I could maybe understand. Otherwise it’s just heteronormative.

    Thank you for the translation!
