As a child with a similar problem with my parents, I can completely understand SQ’s mindset here… having parents who are controlling but who actually think what they do for you is in your best interest is extremely painful for a kid/adult to experience. This scene with his scumbag dad made me so emotional T-T. You can tell that SBZ does care about the people in his life, but he’s quite misguided and made so many irredeemable mistakes that he can’t connect with his own son anymore. It’s really heartbreaking…
