Something's Up with Background Character DChapter 9

Zhang Ming sighed as he sank back into his seat.

The classroom was a bit loud today. Apparently they were having a pool party for their last day of aquatics PE (with permission from their teacher of course). FHuLzi

He leaned his head on his hand, his arm resting on the table, he isn’t really too interested in the party. Is there any chance he could skip it? Nobody would notice right?

But what if the World System won’t allow him to? When you think about it, even if Background Character D wasn’t mentioned in such a chapter, he should still be there as part of the class.

Great, just great. (_ _’)

Hiding a grimace by tilting his head down to look at his table, he remembers the last time they had PE at the pool. 8CuwnO

Okay, so he admits he may have overreacted when he blew up at Reke. But he’s been high strung for days already okay? What with all the day-to-day ambushes and the lowkey (lowkey?) stalking him around school—

Not that it mattered anyways, he would still refuse to talk to Reke. He couldn’t take the chance with the World System and its punishments.

Reke gave him a day or two before he came right back with renewed vigor in trying to corner him at school.

(And of course, Zhang Ming also came right back with the same renewed vigor to avoid and ignore him.)

The more Zhang Ming would dodge any and every sort of interaction with him, Reke resorted to following him around and just waiting for some sort of opportunity. Too bad for him, but Zhang Ming always notices him.

Can’t this guy get a clue? (=_=)

He didn’t share this class with Reke, which is a relief.

But he did in fact share it to the Female Lead and Male Lead. i4kdfT

The World System continues to move on with small plot point after plot point (without Background Character D interfering, please). The Lead Characters’ romance slowly blossomed as time passes and seasons go by.

And of course he’s here, witnessing it all.

Ivo sat directly behind Elizabeth and stared at her red hair. It’s been going on for a few minutes now, and his eyes progressively get more and more focused on her. He can practically see the hearts in his eyes when Elizabeth laughed with her friend and seatmate.

He inwardly cringes and wishes to whatever watches over this world that he wouldn’t see any more of their scenes. But knowing his luck (and his character) he’ll be privy to almost all of their moments. pU ehE

He finds himself once again at their school’s pool, surrounded by rowdy teenagers.

He sighed tiredly and this time decided to bunk out on one of the benches to the side instead. Thankfully they all had canopies so he wouldn’t get sunburnt.

He scanned through the area, back and forth, trying to find Reke. It’s almost a habit now after weeks of doing it.

He catches sight of him making friends with the Male Lead. MhBuiD

Huh, interesting. He doesn’t remember reading about this happening at all.

But, watching Reke shove Ivo into the water who resurfaces with wet hair on his face and snickering at him while the other one narrows his eyes at him, it doesn’t seem like it wouldn’t have happened sooner or later.

Reke may have seem very stoic, but he wasn’t exactly known to be an introvert. And Ivo was described as a very friendly person.

The only thing that seemed to keep them apart in the book was their love for Elizabeth and their consequent rivalry afterwards. There were a lot of scenes were the two jealously duke it out, trying to one up each other. 9z hZr

Could it be that the Female Lead had done something? It didn’t seem like it. Zhang Ming didn’t see much interaction between the two characters in the end.

Maybe all this following after Zhang Ming didn’t give him much of an opportunity to interact with the Female Lead more?

He wasn’t sure. But it was probably a butterfly effect brought about from him replacing the original Background Character D and interacting with Reke.

The World System seemed to have been right. Just interacting with Reke for a few minutes has already derailed parts of the plot. If he did anything more than just that, the book’s plot may just collapse entirely. And who knows what the World System would do to him if that happens. ATrzdI

Extra:

The student deadpanned as the boy with brown hair and hazel eyes creeped around the hallway as though it were a scene from Mission Impossible with him as the main character.

She heard a snort from behind her, “Ahh, Mr Spy Kid again?” her friend said, closing his locker. F45fyV

She could only sigh in response as said ‘Mr Spy Kid’ peeks out the window to look at the bland-looking boy (he just had one of those faces, she thinks) with honey blonde hair, “Yeah.”

“Still stalking the same kid?”

“Mh

mm.” 3xY5jX

“We should report him, shouldn’t we?”

“Probably.”

“…but we won’t?”

“Nope.” QxYu9P
