As soon as he sat down at the table by the far corner of the library, hidden behind multiple shelves, a figure appeared from behind them.
He inwardly sighed at his bad luck and proceeded to position his chair to avoid the stranger who decided to try out the library today for some reason. He determinedly looked down at his book and avoided eye contact in any way.
Imagine his surprise when the stranger sits down right beside him. (>_>)
Zhang Ming could only glance at the entirely empty library and the very empty table and the free seats that aren’t right beside him and cursed the World for the kind of luck he has.
Should he stay? The person probably wouldn’t disturb him too much. They weren’t doing anything yet. Maybe he should just leave? There are other spots in the library he could camp out on instead.
But the stranger’s choice seems to be a bit too much of a coincidence. Why sit beside him? _(:△」∠)_
Just as he was contemplating his next move, the stranger leaned forward and caught his eye from where he was staring at his book.
“Hey.” said the boy he saw that one time by the gate on his first day here.
Zhang Ming could only blink at him.
“My name’s Reke, can I ask what yours is?” the boy’s hazel eyes sparked with inquiry.

Zhang Ming looked at the brunette before glancing back down to his book, “Uhh reading?” Well, reading is most probably the reason he could be reincarnated into this world anyways.
The brunette laughed, “I guess I do see that. Anything else?”
The blond thought for a second, but embarrassedly shook the thought away.
No way in hell is he telling this guy he liked singing. He never sings in front of people. Even his own family. ┬┴┬┴┤(･_├┬┴┬┴
Reke, however, caught the look in his eyes making him grin and lean forward again. “If it made you embarrassed then I really have to hear this.”
“It’s nothing. I don’t have any other hobbies.”
“Come on—” Zeke drags the word out, “I know there’s at least one other thing there. Don’t be shy, I won’t judge. I swear.”
With all the badgering, Zhang Ming finally conceded, “I kind of like singing. Definitely not professionally or anything like that. I’m not that good at it. And I don’t like singing in front of people, so don’t expect to see me singing any time soon.” All his words came out in a ramble.
The brunette smiled wider, “That’s cool! What kind of songs do you like?”
“Uhh, anything?” He answered.
He doesn’t really have much of a taste. Though he does have a preference for musicals. (* >ω<)
“I’m not much of a music man myself. Music was good but I didn’t really have much of an opinion on them. Do you have any recommendations? I might find something I like.”
Reke opens his mouth to respond, but Zhang Ming’s attention is taken when he feels a small zap on his chest. He lets out a small yelp.
“Are you okay?” Reke immediately asks.
“Breaking out of character. Punishment has been delivered. Continued interactions will equal worse punishments.” the World System says.
“What?! It hasn’t even been more than 5 minutes! And no one ever said anything about getting zapped!” ∑( ‘ д ‘ lll
“Rules broken will always equate to punishments.”
“Hey, hey! Zhang Ming, are you good?” He refocuses to see Reke waving a hand in front of his face and his other hand grasping his shoulder.
“I—” Should he answer? Would he get punished again for answering? “I’m okay. I just… accidentally stubbed my toe under the table.” he immediately winced at the most basic excuse.
Of course, Reke did not believe it. He clearly saw the small flash of pain when the boy yelped. And something a little like panic a little afterwards. For now, he decided to let the blond off though.
“I’m sorry. I have to go now. I have… schoolwork to do.” Zhang Ming stood up, the screech of the chair against the floor echoing through the quiet library.
“Wait—” Reke says but Zhang Ming continues to pack up his things.
“Can I at least—”
“I’ll… see you next time. Bye.” the blond says in parting and hurriedly leaves.
