sigh if this is the price one has to pay for being ‘smart’, I don’t think a lot of people would want to pay it tbh. The author makes light of the whole journey with the theaters at the end of the chapters, but I think QY’s growth is well portrayed throughout the book. The only thing is that it still seems a bit hurried, but that’s also bc FYS did have a deadline for his ‘project’ of ‘educating’ the naive youth into a black-bellied adult. And bc the author risked losing the readers’ interest if it was slower paced.
