A World AssimilationChapter 36

“I will start attacking you now,” Kai reminded Shen Yu, standing in front of him and looking down, “I will be very slow, but you have to come up with an effective attack method which can render me dead with one strike. This is comprehension skill, and you need to recall whatever I did earlier, and what you have learned so far.”

Then, without waiting, Kai attacked with a common punch, aiming straight for the jaws. The momentum was slow, but even thinking took time, so although Shen Yu came up with a good deflecting twirl, he was unable to take down the enemy in one blow.  Y9dQFT

“Slow, try again.”

Determined, Shen Yu tried to counter with a kick to the abdomen, by side stepping and shifting back, holding out his elbow and targeting the neck of the opponent.

The counter was fast by his own standards, but Kai was still faster in stopping him.

Yet, Kai looked impressed, “Good boy,” he praised, and Shen Yu was energized.   NDhJvE

Only Kai knew how to be patient with Shen Yu, everyone else would just get angry at his slow response, or were impatient with him, his health also wouldn’t let him enjoy such physical combat training.

Plus, which instructor would slow down to a turtle’s pace in order to give Shen Yu time to comprehend skills?

Even before, when Shen Yu was unable to practice anything heavy, Kai would often teach him skills and knowledge which he found beneficial for Shen Yu. Supporting him closely, and nurturing his comprehension skills despite his nil cultivation, Kai gave him the greatest benefit.

Shen Yu dodged better every time he was attacked, but at times, he would slow down, and even forget what to do with his footwork.

“…just like that, what if I attack your vital points?” Kai asked, moving to the side, “If this happens, defend first, don’t be eager to punch them down in one go. But right after deflecting, you should be the first one to attack next, and,” Kai gripped Shen Yu’s fist, bringing it up towards his temple, “attacking here will not be appropriate, people who go for the kill usually don’t leave any space for counterattack, so you need to play dirty. Attack from behind. A person’s back is the most important area, it is always guarded, but still very open at the same time.”

Kai flexibly rushed to Shen Yu’s back in a rounding whirl, his pivotal being very close to Shen Yu’s right foot. “You need to be fast enough to not leave them any space for rotation, and you need to look out for the hand, so guard with right and attack with left chop on the neck. Keep vigilant in case the other person attacks your right ribs and head, so be very careful…”

For a long time, Shen Yu learned various combat skills, the knowledge easier to understand now that he was learning it practically.

It was a teaching given to juniors, but since Shen Yu was close to being a toddler in cultivation, he was slow at comprehension.   m4ep 5

Those who crossed stages, whose foundations were strong, could have access to faster brain connectivity and recalling power, so their comprehension skills were stronger with each passing time.

“Why are you embarrassed?” Kai suddenly asked, as if he knew what Shen Yu was thinking, he stopped teaching and stood to the side, staring at the other, “You have zero cultivation skill, and so far you are better at adapting than others. You are good, so don’t think too much. Keep learning and practicing. What I taught you, you will keep practicing it in your free time, revise what you learned in your mind and strengthen your attack speed and power. You will adapt pretty soon.”

Shen Yu nodded after a while, a trace of nervousness trickling in, “What about Aura training?” He was tired after so much combat training, despite it being slow and measured, it was not easy to learn and comprehend something new.

“I will let you take a break first, then we will start with 0.5% aura suppression, you need to keep standing no matter how strong the urge to submit. Get it?”  DqldpR

Shen Yu nodded, he knew the percentage was small, but he could tell that Kai was very strong, for him to suppress his strength to a mere 0.5% showed how far their differences lied and just how dangerous it would be for Shen Yu to enter Kai’s domain of aura if it was ever unleashed to suppress others.

So even if only for the sake of not embarrassing himself in those situations, Shen Yu got ready to train with his whole heart.

The break lasted for about 15 minutes, to give his body some well needed rest.

And for a while after that, nothing happened, but Shen Yu didn’t relax his guard. The attack could come at him any moment, Kai had a tendency to surprise attack.   i9q3jb

Just like he predicted, only a second later, Shen Yu felt a strong pressure suppressing his mental barrier. It was foreign and intrusive, very different from the usual mild resonance that followed Kai when he was around Shen Yu.

Aura attacks were psychic attacks, would make a person useless if they were not mentally immune to a stronger aura. That is why Aura training was important everywhere.

Only those that had reached the second stage of cultivation would touch upon aura training due to its severe side effects, and Shen Yu was much worse than a mere mortal, for him to practice this was very dangerous. People in the right mind would not take up such a brutal training, however, Shen Yu was different, he wanted to dive in and progress faster than others, it was only natural that he suffered a little.

Like himself, Kai never let him skip this training, and maybe it had some use, because as soon as the pressure fell on him, Shen Yu didn’t submit to the wild and dangerous aura lurking overhead, it was so pressuring and powerful, it made Shen Yu stagger on his feet.  6v78jZ

Anyone with a weaker mindset would give up. But he kept standing there, suffering through a massive breakdown of his own mental barrier. Kai’s aura was nothing to scoff about, when unleashed, it was very disarming and damaging.

A piercing sharp pain stabbed his mind as it pressured him to submit. The command was not letting go even if Shen Yu tried using a distraction to keep himself from crying out in pain.

Psychic breaches were always more excruciating than physical attacks. It was a mind numbing trauma.

“It hurts…” Shen Yu gasped, clutching his head as if suffering through migraine, he wanted to close his eyes and faint, or just buckle down to sit on dirt.  sruvW6

Yet, some hidden strength inside him still won over his own selfishness to let go, and despite the increasing fear, the shaky breath and great pressure, Shen Yu sweated it all out.

Aura training was marked with 5 minutes timer, and despite all the mental preparation, Shen Yu found himself dizzy and gasping.

It was too much.

The pain, the fear of being killed for defiance, the heavy buildup of pure strength, it was making him suffer to the extreme.  KcOvob

His instinct told him to submit, to let go, to run away, give up… in order to survive he needed to give in to the superior, yet his heart didn’t want to do so.

So, with gritted teeth, clenched fists, Shen Yu stood shivering under the onslaught of darkness and fear, power and enslavement.

When the pressure finally eased, Shen Yu staggered and fell down, just in time to be saved in Kai’s embrace.

“Well done.” he said, his voice drowned out amidst the intense headache.  6yjlB4

But those two words alone made Shen Yu very happy.

He had done it, even if just a small step, he had taken it.

Wiping away the sweat, Shen Yu managed to stand on his own, but his knees gave out again, and he shivered as he lay in Kai’s arm.

He leaned towards the chest, which was beating thump-thump with each pump, it gave him a strong sense of belonging.   gj8u1o

The sense of achievement and progress effectively lulled his tired mind and body to sleep.

[Lia_campbell: Well, well, well, this was intense. Those five minutes seemed so loooong, dang it. I would have fainted, the disparity was too high!]

[MimiWhite: Shen Yu did great. He learned and grasped so fast, I was amazed by his determination to keep going. For the first day, this was a good progress.]

[Abrahem94White: I just hope there is no sequalae of this training, there is a reason why cultivators below 2nd stage don’t touch aura training. Although there is no punishment against this, and it isn’t a crime to jump start, it is advisable to consider the body. Well, I guess even Hunter isn’t stupid, so let’s see where he goes with this.]

[NanaWhite: Upstairs, I also feel uncomfortable watching Shen Yu go through this. Although the jump start is alright, and I believe the training method was okay, but Hunter is too attack oriented, not really defensive. Did he forget that unlike himself, who is an explosive type, Shen Yu is good with flexibility and thus stealth. If Shen Yu can dodge and run, escape skills will do him greater good than diving into attack and defense. He doesn’t have a core; it would take longer to adapt to medius cultivation if he keeps going like how he is.]  2b1Kgi

[No.1Cultivator_Shan: I don’t think we are focusing on medius here, Hunter is teaching physical combat, there is no need to think too much about following just one type of skill. Being an all rounder can save his life.]

[SharnaBlackWHite: ??? I am actually very happy to see Shen Yu making progress. He is learning what he should and there is no need to look too much into it. Hunter knows what he is doing.]

[Ri8: I am not someone who would curse out on live sessions, but for the first time I find Hunter’s teaching method very inconsiderate. Even for me, who is a 2nd stage, this sort of training is too difficult. Although Shen Yu grasped fast, I think Hunter is forcing things on him, they need to take things slow to establish a stable foundation.]

[TripuraSeven: I don’t think I have ever seen Hunter so serious about training anyone, even if he had been, sorry, I only saw this side of him with Shen Yu. I would melt if I ever get so much attention. ShyShy.jpg]  Xg1Bde

[CustardBlackpudding: For those who are whining, listen well, Hunter is going with a different training regime, called, PROPULSION 3.4, it was handed down by the later generation of Demonic Cultivators, mainly the old family of Takahashi, distant cousin of Matsuda Clan, they have now dispersed into smaller sects and units, their surname no longer the same, but their heritage is still recorded in the dusty books of several old families. If I remember correctly, then Hunter is being very systematic and considerate.]

[JinxYaomu: I know Propulsion 3.4, it is still in use in many old families, but not strictly good for every cultivator. I understand Hunter, and he isn’t someone who would do uncertain things, from watching them for so many days, I get that they are super close, so nah, I am not worrying about anything.]

[Khao_Patanguguo: Everyone! Breaking news! Shen Yue, Shen Yu’s sister just posted something and then deleted it.]
