The action was so short and quick, that Shen Yu only came out of his thoughts after hearing the dull thud of a body falling in dirt.
Shuddering, he felt a bit faint, and a little scared of this sudden act of reaping a life, but more importantly, he felt complicated. Although he didn’t care about strangers and certainly not enemies, he found Kai’s reaction to have a deeper profoundness to it.
Others might hesitate to take a life in the mission world, but Kai was swift and confident in his actions, not at all scared of the consequences of his actions. There was not even an ounce of pity in his body language as he confidently moved onwards.
Even if Shen Yu had seen him behaving this way, this was the first live viewing of his abilities and Shen Yu felt slight enigma towards the other. Because if they had to complete the branch task, Kai would have gone with Shen Yu to persuade his tribe or maybe control it for him, but he hadn’t asked what the task was, neither did he seem to be inclined towards completing it for him.
Shen Yu didn’t wish to remind him of the branch mission, and so far, he didn’t have any skills that would make him complete the task on his own. It was better to just sit back and complete the main mission first, if Kai was willing then Shen Yu would come back here when things were less complicated.

Kai didn’t seem to mind searching through a headless body, but the closer Shen Yu walked, the fainter he felt.
“Don’t think so much, life and death go hand in hand, come here,” there was a slight command to Kai’s wording and Shen Yu reluctantly walked a bit faster, not faltering even if he wanted to. He didn’t want the other to think he was still a kid.

The live session had paused when Kai killed someone, but it resumed soon like it was a normal occurrence. The first ones to come back to life were the Black fans, they were used to seeing their idol acting crazy, while the white fans worried about Shen Yu who had seen death for the first time. Some younger fans just exited the session out of disgust.
Only a few loud ones wondered if it was the right thing to be so overbearing, and scolded Kai for not thinking about the rest of the group members who might get a collective penalty if Kai did something wrong.

Looking at Kai, who was searching up a storm, Shen Yu tried not to look at the body above the chest area, his heart was thudding too loudly and he felt his knees shaking at the sight of some fresh blood.
Until Kai searched, Shen Yu stood, the both of them doing what they were good at. After a while, Kai stood up, staring at the corpse which had already gone cold in the morning chill.

Poor Kai constantly misunderstood as abusing his wife when he is actually helping. This time fairly certain he is making SY do this to get accustomed to violence/death so that he doesn’t freeze or go into shock in a fight when it really matters. Well….not like he gives any fucks about being misunderstood.
