T/N: Haha, Bai Yunxi is so funny when he tells Ye Fan that others think the same of him when he claims he’s a genius. Ye Fan does act like an idiot sometimes and not surprisingly, people do doubt his ability. Of course, unlike the cannon fodder, as the main character, we all know he’ll eventually slap them all in the face. I think a lot of people get tired of this as it’s pretty much the same script in all of Ye Yiluo’s novels, but for some reason, it doesn’t really bother me. At least for this novel, it’s because Ye Fan truly is a peerless genius (a vision of heaven and earth was produced when he was born), so while some people might think it’s ridiculous, at least there’s some basis to his genius (e.g. he’s read all the classics available in Blue Cloud Sect, which has a higher level of cultivation than the Eastern Continent). Can’t say the same in most of Ye Yiluo’s other cultivation novels where the main characters are actually transmigrators from the modern world…yet can easily surpass all the cultivation natives.
*The author sometimes uses Fellow Daoist Fan Ye and sometimes just Fellow Daoist Fan. According to Chinese speaking conventions, this should just use the person’s last name, but I think the author uses the full name sometimes to remind readers what his pseudonym is (she also does this with Yunxi).
