A Royal PainCh4 - To whom it belonged

A cool, floozy breeze blew by lifting thin strands of his golden wheat hair in an exaggerated, melancholic style as he stared at Taishin betrayed.

“What,” the prince asked disbelievingly, “did you say?” iwfBX6

Taishin fired without hesitation, “That you’re a royal pain in the ass and a walking menace who needs good ass-beating.”

Another moment of aghast silence passed. And another round of light breeze blew by, giving the standing prince a desolate air of a main character that’s been suddenly revealed that his forever best friend had been the villain all along. The prince balled his fists and took out his phone.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Are you serious? Taishin frowned. Snitching to your parents at this age? Or maybe he’s about to call some thugs to beat him up?

But what happened next was something Taishin never imagined he’d ever witness. Something that made the cameraman take a step back and reconsider his decision to record the scene. M3tAdH

The Prince began crying.

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

“This…” The Prince turned towards Taishin, sniffling and wiping the snot dripping off of his face as he pointed at the phone. “When I searched on Toogle it said that ‘a royal pain’ means ‘Someone or something which is very angering, annoying or disgusting’.”

He broke down, his face gone red from ugly crying. “And that a ‘menace’ means ‘something that threatens to cause evil, harm, injury’. Why…” He howled. “Why would you call me that? I’ve never hurt even a fly.”

Taishin held back his, ‘you don’t say?’ and said, “I’ve only spoken the truth. It seems you’re also a child who doesn’t seem to understand the basics of language.”

As the word ‘child’ rained down on him the prince looked up from his tears as if someone struck him down with lightning. He then immediately ran to the nearest bodyguard crying, “Mama Bodyguard!”

The bodyguard was a hulking muscly guy who welcomed him with open arms and began patting his back as he sobbed.

“That guy,” he cried, “that guy called me ‘a royal pain in the ass’! Can you imagine somebody calling me, me as somebody who’s unpleasant? This world is just too cruel. I…” He cried again loudly. “I only wanted the best for him, you know?” NoGrW6

Well, that’s… a very expensive method to off someone. Taishin pursed his lips.

Suddenly an additional group of makeup artists emerged and lunged at the prince, one wiping his snot and tears away while another immediately got to cold-pressing his puffed, reddened eyes. 08KWH6

“Your Highness,” One of the makeup artists spoke, sponging his face fiercely, “your weekly tear quota is reached and no more make up for you until next Monday. So please make sure to keep it in your glands.”

So it’s a regular thing. Taishin drew in a long breath.

Hirotaka whispered to Taishin, “Is this guy really royalty?”

“Apparently.” dO8AKo

No really, Taishin wanted to laugh when he thought about how he’d estimated the 3rd prince to be someone of irrefutable intellect. Or maybe strength. He scanned the prince’s limbs that were so willowy that they looked like they were about to fall off.

Never mind not being physically strong.

He assumed there’d be at least the poise and grace of royalty in him—the kind of intimidation that only comes with people of power. Taishin’s eyes stung and his face contorted.

He looked like a very poor stand-in to a prince who was kidnapped on the way from the Altrisberg to the airport; one that was whisked off of the streets last minute. gr02Yl

“We’ll wrap up the welcome party from here and I won’t take part in the interview.” Anzu announced to the crowd but he was actually looking at Taishin. When he realized Taishin staring at the sky as if it was the most interesting thing in the world, he scrunched his face.

“I’m telling,” He repeated, “that I won’t be doing the interview. Do you people understand?”

Taishin continued his sky-gazing and Anzu balled his fists, lips trembling.

“I said I’m not doing the interview and you don’t care?” He was met with silence. He tried again, “Some people could get in trouble for that you know? It is better they take back what they said.” agpRye

Though he was actually out in the open threatening Taishin, his voice broke so bad that it almost seemed like he was pleading with Taishin to not do this.

“Mr. Augustus,” Taishin said flatly, “the audience has better comprehension than you. I’m sure they understand so respectfully get yourself off of the school grounds.”

“Well that’s what he says.” A guy with teakwood colored hair and deep set eyes threw his arm around Anzu’s shoulder as he smiled. “They got it and they’d come around to it when they’ve calmed down. So let’s go back now.”

“But…but–” UW6DE5

“They will, they will. Let’s go now.”

Once he finished with the coaxing, he traced his steps back to the place where Taishin stood. He did not do anything at all but stand by Taishin’s side until Anzu boarded the Jet, yelled “Goodbye” in English to everyone and disappeared.

Taishin could sense something was up.

“You missed your ride, Sir. We don’t have any more Jets here,” Taishin said. eVmr1I

“Oh, I’m a peasant. I don’t need Jets, I could walk to the apartment from here. I’m only Anzu’s best friend.” He then smiled at Taishin—a very unpleasant smile and continued, “I know Anzu can be a bastard at times but it’s not in your best interest to offend the royal family of your neighboring country when the situation between the countries is not ideal.”

“Advice?” Taishin asked carefully.

“No.” He began walking away as he waved his hands in a goodbye and yelled, “Warning. You better watch out—there’s probably hell to pay after you publicly humiliated him. You’re going down for this one way or another.”

Taishin grit his teeth. u6Q7ZL

He knew he had messed up. He should not have insinuated those things in public and even worse… he made the prince cry and the king probably saw all that. He could generally hold out on bullshit for longer than this and this was the first time somebody actually crossed his line.

“Taishin…” One of his friends called out to him. “The Academic heads want to have a word with you along with the chairman and principal.”

“Academic heads?” He asked, startled, “not one but all?”

“Yeah, they’re all at the chairman’s office.” ZO3n1M

He was officially fucked.

Taishin nodded his head and began walking. He did not know what was to come. They might strip him from the position of student council president.

Or they might expel him.

An anger and hatred he didn’t know he was capable of rose within him. He wasn’t a good enough person to think it was all his fault. eSFYpP

And he bloody well knew to whom this hatred belonged.
