TL Note: While I try to get it across, I’d like to further explain the NU tag ‘polite protagonist’ here. Qiu Yixin speaks very formally and politely most of the time and is one of the most polite speaking characters in this novel (well, I mean the competition isn’t that great what with the Zhao family…..but Jin Xian’er is also quite polite). He sticks to calling the Zhao Family by their ‘titles’, except for the older Zhao brothers. He likes to use chengyu (types of old idioms, but are more formal than eng idioms) and more formal turns of phrases. I just want to highlight this, so that you see when he breaks this polite exterior of his with swears, etc.
At the crack of dawn, I heard Zhao Gongzi as he was wearing a sleeping robe in the living room calling someone on the phone. “Piss off! You’ve got the wrong number! What the hell’s it got to do with you?! If you continue calling, Laozi’s going to blow your head off!”
While he was unprepared, I snuck by him and grabbed the phone. I said, “Hello, I’m Qiu Yixin.”
Zhao Gongzi stared at me in fury.
From the other end of the phone came a familiar, laughing voice. “Long time no see, Yixin.”

Ever since Zhao Gongzi beat him up that one time, he had disappeared from the town, and I had never seen him again.

Jin Xian’er stood up, got napkins and went to wipe at the mess on Zhao Gongzi’s white button-down shirt, but was pushed away by Zhao Gongzi, still thinking about god knows what. The fork in his hand flew out of his grasp, flying and landing into the wine glass in front of me, causing wine to splatter and splash onto my face.
Tommy shouted in alarm.
Zhao Gongzi and co. turned over and looked over as one, and finally saw us.
Jin Xian’er smiled as he waved at me. “Mr. Qiu!”
I don’t know them.
I only need a kitty cat to accompany me and spend the rest of my life with, not a dog that would destroy my house just because I had forgotten to feed it, nor an assistant that messed everything up, nor a little devil that used money that was gotten by scamming others to take me out on dates, nor the Zhao Gongzi who had made all of this happen.
I just wanted to use a civilized way to show my piano teacher that had once tricked me and played with my feelings that he had no right to stand before me and lecture me about the choices I had made and the life I was leading because my life was going much better than his was.
