Imagine a scene where our beloved Xiao Linqing is flipping through his practice paintings and trying to organize his studio before his trip. Imagine him seeing painting after painting of Zhong Chen. And with every painting, he begins to doubt himself even more… It’s obvious to see how much he loves Zhong Chen from how he paints him, just as it is obvious how he loves his hometown from his ancient paintings of it. And then he paints Zhong Chen again, full of knowledge and love, so that his feelings will be obvious to everyone who sees it. And that’s the last picture in the album.

  25. I get why so many people think it was anticlimactic but it fits. Considering Fu Yi’s personality of being low key, I expected it to just happen randomly when he decided like it was shown here. A grand confession n scene doesnt fit him. On the contrary, ml responding brazenly is on point for his character. I was only a little shocked mc allowed the kiss but hes normally pretty soft when it comes to ml anyway.
