Im sorry the priest sounds like he has been depressed since his father’s death. He needs psychiatric help to get over the grieve.. The kind of immortality he describes sounds very depressing to me personally.. Plus i dont think hw cares for ethan. I mean on one hand he does but not as much as filling the hole his father left. Feels like he never moved on
