I feel like the reason the location of the ability core is different in zombies and mutants is because the mutants are not controlled by the virus. Like the reason they’re mutants and not zombies is because their body interacted with the virus differently and the ability core formed in the stomach and not the head, allowing them to not be controlled by the virus like zombies are. Since zombies have the crystal nucleus in their head that means the virus is rooted in their brain and can control them, making them zombies.
