The two nurses nudged each other with their elbows until one of them finally asked, “Dr. Xu, are you going to the dinner tonight?”

Xu Ze suddenly stopped his movements and stared at the screen. The sentence had been typed and was ready to be sent with one click, but he was unable to press down further with his thumb stuck half a centimeter above the screen.
He raised his head and saw the scene he saw every day, surrounded by a wide variety of familiar and unfamiliar pheromones. The nurse was also stunned and then stood up. The alpha took off his cap and leaned over the reception desk to say something. The nurse quickly nodded, raised her hand to point in a direction, and said a few words to the alpha.
The alpha turned following her gesture. His eyes fell on the face of the young doctor he had just passed.
In the end, the text was not sent. The phone automatically turned off and went dark. Xu Ze stood motionless and watched as the alpha approached him. The alpha’s direct gaze was piercing and unflinching. Xu Ze felt as if he was being watched with professional calmness. The indescribable sense of pressure became more apparent as the alpha approached.
As he got closer, Xu Ze noticed the Air Force Colonel’s epaulets on both shoulders of his uniform and the golden eagle emblem with spread wings glistened.
“Dr. Xu, hello.” The alpha extended his hand to Xu Ze and introduced himself simply without any military rank or position, “Lu Heyang.”
