After their meal, Simha insisted on joining Viramalla and Sui Junhui but feeling Sui Junhui’s glare on his body, Yi Qian hurriedly tried to convince Simha otherwise. It was only after many words of persuasion from Yi Qian that Simha finally agreed to let go of the idea. He reluctantly said goodbye to his elder brother and the general Yue.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Following the departure of Simha and General Yi, Viramalla and Sui Junhui walk further down the street. Only after making sure they were out of sight did Sui Junhui finally release his eyebrows and happily turn towards Viramalla.

“Your Highness, there is a treasure pavilion on the next street, how about we go there? The things sold there are truly rare and authentic. You would definitely like them.” Sui Junhui told Viramalla enthusiastically as though it wasn’t him who was exuding cold air throughout their meal.

Though Viramalla was amused by his childlike attitude, after thinking for a while, he ultimately declined Sui Junhui’s offer. Seeing Sui Junhui’s stunned appearance after his denial, he slowly explained, “Our disguise has been seen through.” After all, word travels fast nowadays.

Although they were just sitting inside a small stall, news that the Pallavan crown prince along with one of their country’s general were strolling through the market in commoner’s disguise was quickly spread. This was all due to the food stall shopkeeper’s effort. He didn’t want other shopkeepers to get caught off guard like he was, so he spread the word quietly.

Although Sui Junhui felt upset, he knew Viramalla had a point and so he reluctantly agreed to go back to the palace. Having known that their disguises were already seen through, Sui Junhui quickly had Chu Qin prepare a carriage for them. From inside the carriage, Viramalla quietly took in the passing scenery. The breeze from the window slowly blew, making Viramalla’s hair fly gently in the air. His usually cold eyes– soft as he looked on at the changing scenes of people in the market. Watching him was like one watching an immortal who descended to the mortal realm. At least that’s what Sui Junhui thought.

Being able to relax like this was really a novel experience for him. Living as a prince naturally was not easy. He had to be cautious even during sleep for he did not know who would possibly turn their backs against him whilst he was in his most vulnerable state. He always had to sleep lightly but as of right now, he was able to completely relax his taut muscles.

This action was so natural, it didn’t seem to be voluntary. It was as if his body was already used to feeling this way around Viramalla. Sui Junhui was once again perplexed to find himself unconsciously letting his guard down around the Pallavan prince but before he could think any further, he slipped into dreamland.

Viramalla saw that Sui Junhui had fallen asleep and he could not help but allow a small smile to appear on his face. He had not changed. Viramalla softly shook his head as he took the silk blanket that was kept below their seats and gently covered Sui Junhui with it.

Seeing that Sui Junhui’s brows were still furrowed together, Viramalla quietly helped him to release the frown on his forehead. Sui Junhui was still fast asleep and did not wake up even when Viramalla’s fingers touched his forehead. Viramalla could not hold back the indulgence in his eyes. Sui Junhui was still the same, no matter how many years it had been, he remained the same whenever he was with him.

As Viramalla became immersed in his own little world, he suddenly felt a murderous gaze directed at him. He immediately became fully alert and guarded Sui Junhui with his body. All of a sudden, there was a strong gush of wind that blew through the window, rushing towards Viramalla. He quickly raised his arm and caught something. As he looked up at the palm of his hand, his gaze was immediately greeted by a wooden arrow

“Chu Qin drive the carriage faster.” Viramalla ordered him in a stern voice. Chu Qin and Chu Yu were not aware of the situation inside the carriage but when they heard the tone of Viramalla’s voice they knew something bad had happened. Immediately, they picked up the speed of the carriage. While they were speeding up, they heard the sound of strong wind gushing towards the carriage. They immediately came to the realisation.

Assassins! JIUEhd

Chu Yu and Chu Qin’s faces turned ugly as they sped the carriage towards the palace. Chu Yu, concerned about both of the princes, turned to see past the screen. There he saw Viramalla guarding Sui Junhui with his own body, catching the arrows accurately in the palm of his hands. Chu Yu released a sigh of relief before realizing that something was wrong. His doubts were answered when he turned back to take a second look at the pair.

He could not help face-palming himself. No wonder Yi Qian always called His Highness the country’s unreliable prince. He really was unreliable. He knew His Highness would naturally let his guard down around Viramalla but he never knew it would be to this extent. His Highness was so relaxed that he even managed to not only fall, but stay asleep through an assassination, leaving Viramalla to single-handedly protect him. BCbQ3u

Chu Yu could not help but wonder whether or not this sleeping prince was the same prince who would stay so alert during his sleep that the mere sound of footsteps would be enough to wake him. He could only conclude this to be the result of all these years of pent up sleep finally catching up to him.

Chu Yu silently lamented in his heart as he continued to help Chu Qin drive faster. As they came near the palace the sound of wind rushing towards the carriage finally subsided. They soon drove the carriage towards the entrance of Chrysanthemum courtyard. NqDJx4

Viramalla quietly descended from the carriage and looked at Chu Qin and Chu Yu deeply. After what seemed like a long while, Viramalla finally spoke.

“Do not tell anyone of this matter. It would only bring trouble to His Highness.” After saying this he went directly inside his courtyard. Chu Qin and Chu Yu stared blankly at his fading back. Chu Qin who did not quite understand what Viramalla was implying turned towards Chu Yu for help. rJ9vG1

Chu Yu silently sighed before saying, “If we were to tell anyone, they would investigate this matter. We were only ambushed after both the prince’s disguise was seen through meaning this ambush was directed towards one of the princes. If it was towards the Pallavan prince, then it would cause an uproar as he is now in our territory and thus the blame would naturally fall onto the Emperor. Whether it is blaming him for the lack of security provided to the Pallavas or blaming him for having ulterior motives and wanting to kill them, it would put our country in an awkward position. On the other hand, if the ambush was directed at His Highness, it would mean that his disguise as a general was seen through, implying that a mole has been planted among us. His Highness would also not take it very well once he figures out that the Pallavan prince has already seen through his disguise too. The point is that no matter what the outcome, each would only cause His Highness trouble. Do you understand now?”

Chu Qin was struck dumb by this explanation. He hadn’t thought this through. He nodded to Chu Yu to indicate he understood and then proceeded to speed up the carriage towards their prince’s palaces. Hk5 dN
