Chu Qin and Chu Yu had just started the carriage to leave for the prince’s palace when they heard His Highness waking up. Sui Junhui felt extremely refreshed after his afternoon nap. Sui Junhui watched as Chu Qin nodded in agreement before reentering the carriage with Chu Yu.
The recently awoken crown prince adjusted his position to sit comfortably when the silk blanket covering him slid down. He knitted his brows as he stared at the still silk blanket. He didn’t even remember sleeping in the carriage much less covering himself with a blanket. He knew that couldn’t possibly be Chu Yu or Chu Qin as they were driving, so that would only mean that the culprit was the Pallavan prince. As soon as these thoughts entered his head, the Prince could not help but deeply furrow his brows once again.
Sui Junhui had never let his guard down around anybody so why was it that his body subconsciously relaxed around the foreign prince so much that he didn’t even realise himself slipping into unconsciousness. It was not only that but somehow, he had even managed to sleep through an entire assassination attempt. This had never happened before. Normally his body was always alert and he had subconscious reflexes too. So how did he managed to remain asleep throughout the whole ordeal? There was also the matter of his disguise being seen through. If the assassination was towards him, then his disguise had long been seen through.
Although this was not the first time he had gone through an assassination attempt, it was his first time sleeping through one. He did not like this situation, not one bit. The frustration he felt at the thought of having been completely vulnerable throughout the entirety of the attempt that was aimed at taking his life began to overwhelm him.
Then another thought crossed his mind. The Pallavan prince didn’t take advantage of that opportunity, soon after which he couldn’t help his thoughts from drifting towards the ‘what if?’.
What if the Pallavan prince had ulterior motives, then he would have been long dead. And there was the matter of his bodyguards taking orders from that Pallavan prince. He ordered them so naturally and they too had listened to him. He did not like the way they listened to others and left him in the dark. This meant that there was a possibility they were also loyal to the Pallavan prince. But why, why would they be loyal to him?

Before he could think any deeper, his thoughts were interrupted by Chu Yu informing him that they had arrived at the palace. He slowly stepped out and down from the carriage and looked towards Chu Yu and Chu Qin.
His face did not give away any of his thoughts. He slowly opened his mouth and asked patiently, “It seems that I have fallen asleep during our journey. Did you drop off the Pallavan prince safely?”
“The Pallavan crown prince has been safely dropped off in front of his Chrysanthemum courtyard, Your Highness.” Chu Yu replied.
Sui Junhui nodded thoughtfully and further asked, “How long was I asleep for?”
“Not for long Your Highness. You fell asleep just as we were reaching the courtyard.” Answered Chu Qin.
Sui Junhui continued his questioning, “Did anything happen while I was asleep?”
Chu Qin’s eyes widened slightly and didn’t say anything for a second. Quickly, Chu Yu regained his composure and answered, “Other than the Pallavan prince draping a blanket over you nothing happened, Your Highness.”
Sui Junhui silently looked at them as if it were his first time seeing them. His gaze was full of disappointment. Chu Qin and Chu Yu had lowered their heads so they didn’t happen to see that. Finally, Sui Junhui asked once again, “Are you sure nothing happened?”
Chu Yu and Chu Qin tensed and they once again denied saying nothing had happened. Sui Junhui nodded and pressed further, “Did the Pallavan prince not say anything? I was just disguised as the general so sleeping in front of him should have been seen as disrespect towards him. Did he look angry? “
“No, Your Highness. He didn’t say anything about you falling asleep and he didn’t look angry either.” Chu Yu replied.
Sui Junhui nodded again and walked towards his palace.
“Prepare a bath for this prince.”
“Yes, Your Highness.” Both of them replied in unison.

Sui Junhui sat in his bath and contemplated everything that had happened today. The hot water was helping relieve his stress, even feeling a little comfortable. He had repeatedly asked Chu Qin and Chu Yu whether anything happened today but they kept denying it. He couldn’t help but feel extremely gloomy. They dared to lie to him under the order of another prince. His thoughts were a mess as he got up from the bath and changed out of his robes.
Chu Min was helping him get dressed when Chu Qin came into the room. “Your Highness, His Majesty’s personal eunuch just came to the palace. He has asked to meet you. I have kept him in the waiting room.” Said Chu Qin.
Sui Junhui nodded his head and said, “I’ll be there in a while.”
After dressing he went towards the waiting room. As soon as he entered, the eunuch stood up and saluted him.
“This lowly one greets Your Highness.”
Sui Junhui hummed in acknowledgement and sat on the sofa.
“Any particular reason you have come to this prince’s palace?” Sui Junhui asked him coldly.
“Yes, Your Highness. His Majesty has requested to speak with you. He has asked you to meet with him in the study after the morning court tomorrow.” The eunuch replied respectfully.
Sui Junhui looked as if he was in thought. After a while, he replied, “I’ll meet with Emperor Father. If that’s everything, you can leave.”
The eunuch bowed respectfully and retreated. Sui Junhui already had an idea of what the Emperor father wanted to say. He just sighed and stood up.
