Qiongqi are carnivorous evil creatures. They devour their prey head or feet first, and feed on people who wear their hair long. They devour the loyal and feed the rebellious. wpChaH

Translator's Note

Sahl: Because Xu Shuangtze follows the ‘path of no emotions’ (he cannot fall in love), he must break the ‘love barrier’ by abandoning love i.e. his wife. This is my vague explanation, hope it helps! Feel free to make up your own. :)

Translator's Note

Sahl: So, Gong Wei is holding Xu Shuangtze’s hand and making him tear out his own bride’s heart.

Translator's Note

Sahl: Yep, that scene with the Qiongqi was just an illusion within the illusion.

  1. Several vocative commas appear to be missing: “wake up Xu Bai” (x3), “calm down Xu Bai” should be “wake up, Xu Bai” and “calm down, Xu Bai”.

  2. !! The line appeared again! “You don’t really like [me], you just…” If
this is something Gong Wei said the first time, did it actually bother
him a lot later? He was the one who said it to Xu Shuangtze, but in the
end he subconsciously fears Xu Shuangtze saying the same thing back to him? Meanwhile,
of course Xu Shuangtze knows who it is, he really is taking advantage of this
illusion to experience marrying Gong Wei—as himself rather than General Bai, he’s obviously
strong enough to defeat the Qiongqi, and if he can do that much he
should get to marry the one he loves, right? …Which might even help him resolve this regret that’s probably holding him back in cultivation, hm. (Relatedly, I’m happy to know that it was something soul-deep that caused this attraction rather than falling for a particular persona—poor Gong Wei, though, there really wasn’t anything he could have done to avoid it. He tried very seriously to help Xu Shuangtze properly and it still ended up like this)

By now Xu Shuangtze has lots of
evidence for the fact that Gong Wei is really there, though, and not the
one who trapped him in the first place since this Gong Wei is obviously trying to wake Xu Shuangtze up. Which leaves the question of who is the cultivator trying to pretend at being Gong Wei and trapping Xu Shuangtze, but he doesn’t seem too concerned about that right now haha. Will the other two figure out that Gong Wei can’t be a projection if he’s trying to wake Xu Shuangtze up too, or will they assume that since this setting is already weird Gong Wei actually just did something like trying to wake up Xu Shuangtze early the first time?

    Thank you for translating! <3

  3. XST: Now that all problems are cleared let’s finally get married!

    xDDD

(But.. erm.. nice move to have XST “kill” his own bride lolol)

    Thx for the ch (ㅅ˘ㅂ˘)

  4. umm?… wait?… I am so confused now… can someone gimme a summary of wth is happening rn? what happened orignally ? why did loutus immortal kill xu shuztange’s wife ? did he make the illusion or was he the illusion orignally? the tiger thingy did it happen orignaly or is it happening in this illusion 😭 heelp I am so confused😭 my head hurts…🤕

    • Okay, by my understanding Gong Wei, the Lotus Immortal, had been in Mrs Xu’s body in the original. Ie. He was/ is Mrs Xu. Originally, after XSZ fell in love with “Ah Tao”/ Mrs Xu, he was to marry her and on the wedding night, the Qiongqi attacked and wrecked havoc everywhere.

This went according to Gong Wei’s plan externally, who realised that XSZ was suffering a love barrier that he could only overcome by abandoning his missus, which he didn’t want to do. In retaliation to this, Gong Wei forced him to kill Mrs Xu (by gouging her heart out ig) and leave her to be buried in the cave with the Qiongqi. The tiger thing happened originally but the first time, it made XSZ go crazy and get mad at GW when he left the mirror. In one of the earlier chapters, it was said that Gong Wei helped XSZ whenever he could with little things in the mirror so I’m guessing he was Mrs Xu all along and when he realised that XSZ fell in love with him (as Ah Tao), he forced XSZ to get over the love barrier by making XSZ kill his illusionary self, Mrs Xu.

Not the perfect version but this is how I understand it, corrections are welcome!

  5. Now he’s got him. A few living witnesses. Better act!

Thanks for the great translation ♥️

  6. fck, is that what he meant when he he said *if you lie to me again?! So he already found out the first LIE?! FU**! 🤯

  7. ahh, so xu shuangtze knew he was in a illusion (this time)? and he also knew in real life after the incident 20 years ago that his “bride” was gong wei?
