Qiu Yu let out a long sigh once his breathing and unease calmed down. He shifted into a sitting position on the floor and raised a hand to the slight remnants of pain at the back of his neck—it still felt uncomfortably puffy and sore.

Mu Feibai quickly stopped his wrist, “Don’t touch it.”

He rose and went further into the room, quickly returning with some disinfecting wet wipes.

Qiu Yu cleaned the traces of blood on the back of his neck and sat silently. WVHC3S

Mu Feibai looked at him. After a while, he asked in a low voice, “Did… did you bring a neck protector? How are you planning to cover up the teeth marks?”

Every time an Omega was marked by a new Alpha, there would be a new tooth mark. It would fade to a light red after healing, and it couldn’t be completely removed even by scar removal surgeries. It was like an Alpha’s permanent stamp to indicate that the Omega was theirs. This was the reason why for an extremely long time in history, people used teeth marks to determine whether an Omega was still pure.

Of course, these types of crude classifications have been abandoned in modern society—In some of the more open western Star districts, it was considered normal for more popular omegas to carry multiple different teeth marks.

Qiu Yu was aware of this from the original body’s memories, but he didn’t pay it any mind.

Seeing that Qiu Yu’s expression didn’t change, Mu Feibai thought for a moment and suddenly pretended to laugh, jokingly and tentatively asking, “Since I marked you, why don’t I… be your boyfriend?”

Qiu Yu looked back at him.

With a single glance, Mu Feibai knew what Qiu Yu was going to say.

Hence, before Qiu Yu could reject him, Mu Feibai spoke first. “Just kidding.” Z7Ohd3

He leaned against the wall opposite Qiu Yu, his smile without any traces of being forced. “Don’t look at me like that, I’m not some old-fashioned person who thinks you’ll be… mine after a single mark. Ahem, I’m the captain of the Eagle Riders so I also have to be responsible for the outcome of our competitions. Of course, I want to win the finals ah, so I guess solving the problem this way is pretty good as well.”

Qiu Yu retracted his gaze and sighed silently.

It was clear that Mu Feibai was nervous—his speech was too fast and he even said this much all at once.

“Sorry.” Qiu Yu said, “It was me using you for my own goals, so you can make one demand of me. I can’t help you with anything relating to emotions, but I will help you with anything else that I am capable of doing.” g84OLG

Mu Feibai stared at Qiu Yu, the emotions in his eyes surging before they slowly settled down.

The corner of Mu Feibai’s lips hooked up and he smiled. “I can’t think of anything right now, may I note it down for now? I’ll cash it out when there’s something I need your help with.”

Qiu Yu nodded, “Yes.”

After speaking, he placed a hand on the wall and stood up, “I’ll head back now, good night.” A6Ddb2

Mu Feibai politely sent him out.

He watched Qiu Yu enter his own room and close the door before reentering his room. He leaned his head against the closed door and took a deep breath.

After a while, he raised a hand to his lips and couldn’t help quietly chuckling.

As he recalled the aftertaste, his bracelet suddenly buzzed. gEBQKC

Mu Feibai exited his memories and opened his elder brother’s message.

[The person you asked me to look into is called Wen Zhiyi. He was an orphan of a wealthy merchant in the Eastern First Star District then moved to the Eastern Third Star District to develop his business. He is currently the son-in-law of the Pei family there. He does have some schemes up his sleeves because he showed up with a kid in order to marry into a wealthy family, but he doesn’t pose much of a threat—I’ve already sent someone over to deal with him.]

[Oh right, I just intercepted a reporter who’s been bought off by him. That reporter’s manuscript has already been destroyed, so don’t worry.]

Mu Feibai glanced at the time. It had only been a couple of hours since he contacted his brother. TiFsxz

Mu Feibai texted back: [You mean that family who started off in the black markets? What kind of fool would dare to touch their family?]

Mu Zhuoqing: [With his information channels, there’s no way he would know where the Pei family started off from.] u6ezr9

Mu Zhuoqing: [Heh, a son-in-law who used a child to marry into wealth and dared to go to the First Star District to look for his old lover had clearly never tasted the Pei family head’s ways. He definitely won’t have a good time once he returns. Even the Third District isn’t a place where any Alpha can do whatever he wants—if you want to enter the doors of the wealthy, you have to follow their rules.]

Even though this sounded reassuring, Mu Feibai was still worried: [Would Qiu Yu be in danger?]

Mu Zhuoqing: [Rest assured, our corporation controls a part of the Third Star District’s technological supply chain. It would result in their loss if the Pei family decided to take out their anger on Qiu Yu and they aren’t stupid people. Moreover, they don’t have any connections in the First Star District anyway.]

Mu Feibai let out a breach in relief and sent his brother a red flower sticker. rIpQ9E

Mu Zhuoqing: [Qiu Yu is pretty good. Mother watched your games and really likes him. Of course, she’s also happy that you are protecting him like this.]

Mu Feibai’s vision went dark for a second: [Didn’t I tell you not to tell them?!]

Mu Zhuoqing: [Oh right, you did.]

Mu Zhuoqing: [But I never agreed.] 72OZ4W

Ze Mflyjl: ……

Before he could send a string of curses back in return, another of Mu Zhuoqing’s messages arrived: [Right, is Qi Zhefeng still the doctor in your team?]

His thoughts wandered. Qiu Yu couldn’t help recalling how earlier…

No! pR1oGx

Do not recall it!

Qiu Yu’s eyes snapped open and he gritted his teeth to put a stop to his wandering thoughts.

He turned on his bracelet and sent a message to both Coach He and Doctor Qi.

He had to inform the coach that he could be in the lineup for tomorrow’s game as he now has a temporary mark. He also needed to report the matter of his temporary mark to Doctor Qi. 7fno l

Unexpectedly, there was a knock on his door within a minute of him sending the messages—both Coach He and Doctor Qi had come to him.

“You looked for Mu Feibai of your own initiative?” He Jingxing almost got a heart attack when he received Qiu Yu’s message, “Do you know how dangerous that was! You approached an Alpha during your heat and even asked him to mark you… aren’t you worried that he won’t be able to hold back and would just finish the deed?!”

Qiu Yu couldn’t object and smiled bitterly, “I didn’t think that it would be so intense.”

He only remembered how his entire person was submerged in an indescribable euphoria. Even the self-control he prided himself on was torn apart like a piece of paper in the hurricane of sensations… Mu Feibai must have had a similar feeling. xHGT R

Luckily, Mu Feibai managed to hold back in the end.

Doctor Qi came over with the healing device and treated the wound at the back of Qiu Yu’s neck.

Coach He paced around Qiu Yu’s room. Seeing that there was nothing he could help with, he left Qiu Yu with the sentence “Alright then, we’ll follow our usual arrangement tomorrow” before turning to head towards Mu Feibai’s room.

Ten minutes later, the bite wound on Qiu Yu’s neck was pretty much healed.  1K4GpC

Seeing a red mark on porcelain skin, Qi Zhefeng said, “The next time you make a decision like this, remember to notify me first. Something as dangerous as this should be conducted under supervision to prevent accidental injuries.”

Qiu Yu replied, “I understand.”

The next morning, Qiu Yu wore a turtleneck for once in order to hide the back of his neck.

A lot of media and reporters were now staying in the hotel and the cafeteria was a public area so he couldn’t well walk around everywhere with a tooth mark on his neck. If he were photographed, who knew what kinds of strange news would come out of it—after all, his neck was completely clean yesterday but a tooth mark suddenly appeared overnight. The media was extremely skilled in distorting events—he could already see how they would make an article out of it.

However, Qiu Yu didn’t expect that he wouldn’t be able to cover up what happened last night even if he covered up his neck. JhwO3M

He and Du Chen coincidentally exited their rooms at the same time, about to head to breakfast. However, he hadn’t even taken two steps before Du Chen grabbed his elbow and forcefully dragged him to an empty spot close to a wall.

Du Chen’s expression looked shocked and frightened. He leaned in a little closer and sniffed the area around his body before his expression changed.

“Capt—Mu Feibai he—” Du Chen couldn’t believe it, “What did he do to you?!”

It was self-evident as the scent originating from Qiu Yu was conclusive. S04ewJ

Du Chen’s eyes turned red in a flash. His fingers tightly curled around Qiu Yu’s shoulder and his voice trembled, “He forced you?”

Qiu Yu tried to shake off Du Chen’s hand, however, his physique was still unable to face off against the Alpha in front of him.

He stopped struggling and looked straight into Du Chen’s eyes, saying sternly, “I forced him. Let go.”

Du Chen gritted his teeth, “I don’t believe it.” Hn F9R

Qiu Yu frowned, “Let go, you… ow!”

Seeing him in pain, Du Chen immediately came back to himself and flusteredly let go, “Did I hurt you? S-sorry!”

He Jingxing heard their movements in the corridor and hurried out. With warning in his tone, he scolded, “Du Chen!”

Mu Feibai’s door opened at the same time. He strode forward in big steps and stood between Qiu Yu and Du Chen, separating the two. In a low voice, he said, “Don’t cause trouble.” HhpOJr

“You’re telling me not to cause trouble?” Du Chen scoffed, the area around his eyes still reddened, “What did you do last night, huh?”

Mu Feibai hadn’t opened his mouth before he was pushed aside by Qiu Yu. “I said, I looked for him on my own initiative. I need to go on-field in today’s game—a temporary mark is the simplest and most effective method.”

Hearing the words “temporary mark”, Du Chen seemed to let go of a breath.

Immediately after, he reacted in anger, “You! You did this just for a game?!” KDodq2

Qiu Yu calmly replied. “Yes. I want to win.”

Du Chen continued, “So you’re even willing to be marked just to win a game?”

Qiu Yu answered, “Yes, I’m willing.”

Du Chen was angered into turning around and stalking off. 0tr6HN

Two steps later, he suddenly stopped in place. His hands were gripped tightly in fists, arms shaking.

“I’m sorry…” He said with his back to Qiu Yu and the others, his voice slightly nasal and choked, “Sorry! I shouldn’t have said that yesterday, I wasn’t only concerned about the competition! I also didn’t mean to accuse you of holding us back in the competition, I…”

A droplet of water splashed onto the carpet in front of his foot and he didn’t manage to voice the rest of his words. He wiped a hand across his face and quickly disappeared around the corner in the hallway.

He Jingxing went after him, head hurting. 75Ean1

Mu Feibai stood in place. After a moment, he asked, “What did he say yesterday?”

Qiu Yu helplessly shrugged, “What else can he say?” Nothing other than stuff like “Omegas aren’t suited to play professionally” and “heats affect competitions”.

The only thing was that Qiu Yu didn’t expect Du Chen to carry the pot of Qiu Yu voluntarily getting a temporary mark on himself.

Clearly, Mu Feibai was also quite familiar with Du Chen’s habits and pretty much knew what Du Chen said. His expression turned a little complicated, “So you… came to find me because of what he said?” AFfEQ0

“How could that be.” Qiu Yu’s smile faded.

“Then why did you?” Mu Feibai chased after an answer.

“Because I’m a professional player and winning competitions is my duty.” Qiu Yu had long come up with an excuse, no, a convincing explanation, “I also need to make money to afford my surgery fees and there’s quite a bit of difference between the bonus from coming in first and second.”

Mu Feibai stared at him. KXB2l1

Qiu Yu raised an eyebrow, “What?”

Mu Feibai suddenly smiled, “Oh… so it’s like this ah… I thought gege felt bad for me and couldn’t bear watching me making a toast to other people after losing.”

Qiu Yu rolled his eyes, “You think too much.”

No one saw Du Chen again until the pre-game interviews in the afternoon.  TeJWN0

Just as Qiu Yu worried about how the argument in the morning might affect the little kid’s performance in the competition, Du Chen appeared in the interview room with He Jingxing behind him, patting his shoulder.

Who knows what the coach said to him, but now, as Du Chen looked towards Qiu Yu, his eyes shone with an unprecedented fighting spirit. His tone confident, he promised, “Rest assured, I will play to be best of my abilities in this game. I won’t let your sacrifice be in vain.”

  1. Ok, didn’t think I would be interested in this, but I’m hooked. It’s a light read with good characters and interesting premises.

Also Du Chen being compared to a tsundere cat is quite endearing.
