[EWG_Cupid has killed EWG_Await] oTWie7

Announcements in the custom training map were continuously updated. In the last 50 minutes, “Sunset” and “Await” had been continuously killed by Cupid, revived, and then killed once more. The method of death was different every time and not once did they have a chance to resist.

Watching from a bystander’s perspective through the internal broadcast room, Zhou Shu’s hair stood up. “Hiss… He’s so ruthless… Qiu ge really isn’t holding back at all ah. I just saw the process of Lu Cun being killed and he looked completely bewildered. Literally, ‘who am I, where am I, what am I doing here?’ Gosh, please someone pity them…”

“Alright, that’s enough from you,” Mu Feibai said with a smile, “That’s why this kind of training helps them resist pressure. If they can maintain their concentration and even muster up the strength to fight back for a full fifty minutes of being hunted by Qiu Yu, then there won’t be anyone capable of wrecking their mentality when they go on field in the future.”

“Yeah, indeed.” Zhou Shu watched as Qiu Yu killed Lin Jinxi again and sucked in a breath of cold air. “But I’m just a bit worried about them being broken by Qiu Yu before they even go on the field.”

VeYXf0

Mu Feibai silently agreed.

After a while, he spoke, “If they can’t stand this kind of pressure resistance training, then it can only mean that Coach He was mistaken and they aren’t worthy of being the best seeds of the youth training camp.”

The facts proved that Lin Jinxi and Lu Cun were indeed worthy of that title,

Although Lu Cun was killed to the point of crying after the day’s pressure resistance training, there was not a shred of cowardice or avoidance in his gaze. He looked Qiu Yu in the eyes as usual and asked, “Master, I… improved a bit today right? I think I made a bit of progress…” K7DJCI

Qiu Yu sat in his seat within the game cabin and raised a hand to wipe off the cold sweat that appeared on his forehead due to pain and said, “You died three fewer times than yesterday and lasted a couple dozen seconds longer each time in battle. You also maintained a state of intense concentration for thirty-two minutes this time. Pretty good.”

He didn’t go easy on them at all during the pressure resistant training and used all his killing moves.

Although Lin Jinxi and Lu Cun experienced many miserable and pitiful deaths by his hands during the past four days of hellish training, the length of time they could maintain a state of intense concentration had improved, and their mentalities when facing consecutive deaths had also become much more stable.

Mu Feibai offered a hand to help Qiu Yu out of the game cabin. “I’ll take you to the infirmary.” vrkd5S

A player from the battle team next door had gotten sick so Doctor Qi was treating him there. Coach He was called away by the Club’s owner for a meeting, so neither of the two could come to take Qiu Yu there.

However, Qiu Yu waved his hand in rejection. “Not yet, I’m going to rest here for a bit.”

After some time of physical training, pressure resulting from the game cabin also gradually became less severe.

Moreover, pressure resistant training for Lin Jinxi and Lu Cun was different from the actual competition. It was less intense and he also didn’t sustain any serious injuries in this period so the pain was still tolerable despite his limbs feeling a bit weak. He wanted to test how long it would take to relieve the symptoms by only relying on the recovery abilities of his body and not the nerve massage.  wJkRV1

Qiu Yu didn’t act polite and stretched out his left arm. “I blocked Lin Jinxi’s knife earlier and now this place hurts the most. Can you rub it for me? I have no strength in my hands.” Q vZ86

Back when he was in the army, soldiers often helped each other to crack bones and stimulate blood flow. Since Mu Feibai sat down opposite him, he probably wouldn’t refuse to help.

Mu Feibai was stunned for a moment before he quickly reacted and caught hold of Qiu Yu’s wrist.

Qiu Yu was still wearing the nerve-connection suit, and hadn’t even taken off his gloves. However Mu Feibai still felt as though a small current of electricity flowed from the place they were in contact, the numbness travelling from his fingertips straight to his heart.

Mu Feibai’s adam’s apple gently bobbed. Lowering his eyes, he placed his other hand onto Qiu Yu’s forearm and lightly squeezed it a couple of times.  Lr0XO7

His palms felt the slightly elastic texture of muscles and although there was clearly a barrier of fabric, he still seemed to feel the temperature of bare skin.

Qiu Yu suddenly laughed quietly, a light huff of breath.

“Does it hurt?” Mu Feibai asked nervously.

“It doesn’t,” Qiu Yu replied, “You can use more force.” Kp2NIa

Mu Feibai cleared his throat and straightened his back. He used a little more strength in his hands and asked again, “Like this?”

“A little more.” Qiu Yu said, “It doesn’t work if you rub like this.”

Mu Feibai slowly drew in a breath and used a little more force. He didn’t forget to caution Qiu Yu, “You have to tell me if it hurts.”

Qiu Yu helplessly replied, “It’s already hurting, I’m asking you to rub it in order to relieve the pain.” ORnHUE

Seeing Mu Feibai’s nervousness, Qiu Yu looked around the training room and called out, “Lu Cun.”

Lu Cun had just wiped away his tears. Upon hearing Qiu Yu call him, he immediately ran over. “What’s wrong, master?”

Before Qiu Yu could speak, Mu Feibai cut in. “Go and get a cup of hot water.”

Lu Cun immediately nodded, “Ok!” kxqg09

Mu Feibai turned back around  to Qiu Yu and said, “I can do it.”

As he spoke, he increased the strength in his hands and massaged Qiu Yu’s forearm.

Zhou Shu had been watching this scene play out since the beginning. Unable to stop laughing, he randomly grabbed a teammate close by and whispered, “Ai, it’s so rare to see the captain so nervous! Look at how straight his back is, it’s almost like he’s about to follow orders from the military. This is so much fun…”

Du Chen shook off the hand Zhou Shu placed on his shoulder, glanced in Qiu Yu and Mu Feibai’s direction before he quickly averted his gaze. His tone a little heavy, he said, “If his arm hurts then he should go to the infirmary, why ask an Alp… the captain to rub it for him! Does he expect everyone in the team to serve him?” ucd8X7

Zhou Shu originally only wanted to find someone to eat melons together, but he didn’t expect to receive a faceful of anger from Du Chen. He blinked in confusion, “What’s the matter with you, why are you angry every day? Even the captain hasn’t said anything and there’s nothing wrong with teammates helping each other out, right? The captain has helped to rub my shoulders before.”

Even though he almost lost his little life under Mu Feibai’s hands.

Du Chen felt extremely suffocated, but he couldn’t resist looking in the two’s direction.

After a few glances, he muttered irritably, “He’s an Omega, but he’s still letting an Apha touch him casually… and not even a doctor at that…”  IyRod9

Zhou Shu looked at Du Chen, then at Mu Feibai. After a moment, he huffed in laughter.

“Aiyo, from what I see–” He leaned towards Du Chen’s ear and fearlessly asked, “Could it be that you’re… jealous?”

Du Chen immediately frowned and pushed Zhou Shu away. “You psycho!”

He had yelled at Zhou Shu in a loud voice, so Qiu Yu and Mu Feibai immediately looked over just in time to see Zhou Shu staggering back and almost falling over.  69FpJx

Mu Feiibai frowned, “What’s the matter? No fighting in the training room!”

Zhou Shu was deliberately teasing Du Chen, upon seeing that things were getting serious, he quickly waved and said, “I’m fine, I’m really fine!”

Du Chen looked towards Mu Feibai. His gaze fell on the hand holding on Qiu Yu’s forearm for some time before he suddenly turned his head and wordlessly strode out of the training room. As he walked through the door, he accidentally bumped into Lu Cun who was returning with a cup of hot water. Water sloshed out of the cup and drenched Lu Cun, who almost lost grip on the cup.

Seeing this, Lin Jinxi quickly got some tissues and passed them over. MstYj0

Taking the tissues, Lu Cun dabbed at the water on his body, confused. “What’s up with Du Chen ge?”

Zhou Shu scratched his head, trying to play dumb. “No, no idea…”

Mu Feibai looked away without saying anything and continued to massage Qiu Yu’s arm.

Qiu Yu was quite astute and his instinct told him that there was some hostility between Du Chen and Mu Feibai. RWxV3B

But this kind of feeling was very subtle and complex as it was not entirely accurate to simply sum it up in the word “hostility”. It was more like some sort of in-between state between friend and foe—they could cooperate tacitly in the arena and could also work together in daily training, but occasionally, they just won’t see eye-to-eye with each other.

Perhaps this was the inevitable repulsion between two alphas?

No wonder why there aren’t usually two Alphas on the same battle team. Without the uncompromising pecking order established in the military, it was all too easy for internal conflict to occur.

Du Chen walked along the corridor, lost in his thoughts. It was only when he heard someone calling his name did he realise he had wandered over to the training grounds of “Eternal.

The one who called out to him was a Beta from “Eternal” named Shi Yunxing, who was two years older than Du Chen. Coincidentally, he and Du Chen were neighbours, but the other moved out of the community when he was fourteen. Neither of them expected to meet again in the professional esports circle—in the same club at that.  oiq NR

“What’s happened to you? You’re wandering around like you’ve lost your soul.” Shi Yunxing waved to his teammates before he jogged out to chat with Du Chen, “You can’t be this depressed just because you lost a game right?”

“As if,” the corner of Du Chen’s lips tugged upwards, “I’m not afraid of losing.”

“Yeah, I agree. Back then, there was no one more stubborn than you, as fierce as a little tiger when your face was covered in blood from being beaten up.” Shi Yunxing laughingly hooked an arm around Du Chen’s shoulder, “Then why are you so unhappy? Want to tell your big brother?”

Du Chen looked at Shi Yunxing.  ESGDOF

It was rare to see someone who knew the situation of his family and Shi Yunxing’s words pushed open a gap in the defences set up surrounding his heart.

Shitou ge,” Du Chen called out the other’s childhood nickname,  “Have I really been annoying ever since I was a child?”

Shi Yunxing smiled and raised his hand to pat Du Chen’s shoulder, “How are you merely annoying? Even dogs would avoid you alright? Getting angry and beating people up for no reason, I’ve never seen a kid more difficult to wrangle than you! Oh, no, about that, your sister was even more difficult than you. If I annoy you, the worst outcome would be getting beaten up, but if I annoyed your sister, then I’d have to be cautious when leaving the house for an entire month. Your sister has so many suitors, any little thing she says…”

Shi Yunxing paused halfway in his speech. He looked at Du Chen’s red eyes, who was evidently about to cry, and he froze. “You… what happened?” Eqd1J6

Du Chen raised a hand to wipe his face. Forcing back his tears, he slowly took a deep breath.

Then he spoke in a low and slightly hoarse voice, “My sister… is no longer here.”

Shi Yunxing was bewildered, “…Huh? …Ah, sorry. I, I had no idea…”

Du Chen silently shook his head, lashes lowered. dilu5e

After a while, he started muttering with reddened eyes, “Why can’t an Omega like her just accept fate? How can there be such… such a stubborn Omega?”

Translator's Note

Like a private broadcast? Can only be seen by people in the club

Translator's Note

slang for gossiping (kind of), basically watching stuff happening

Translator's Note

Here it’s supposed to be the opposite of “opposites attract” but I’m not sure how to phrase it…

Translator's Note

It’s another game, I think it was mentioned before but I can’t remember if I called it “Eternal” or not😅

Translator's Note

Shi Yunxing = 石云星, and the first character (the surname) is the same character as that for “rock” (石头), so Du Chen’s childhood nickname for him is “brother rock” (Shitou ge = 石头哥)

  1. Thats what I thought, in Qiu Yu he sees his sister. It explains why he is so warry and harsh towards MC, it’s his fear of losing that’s taking over.

  2. I WAS. NOT READY FOR THAT.

Welp, now we know why Du Chen feels the way he does about Qiu Yu. I hope nothing super bad happened to his sister..

  3. so something happened to his omega elder sister and that’s why he wants qiu yu to “stay in his place” 🥲

  4. Why do you have to have a chatacters with trauma. I hope at least he heals during the story. I really dislike when authors use traumatized characters and give them no opportunities for healing and getting help

  5. 👀 I love badass omegas so this story is A++

Feels bad ’cause Du Chen clearly has some trauma behind his regressive world views, but tbh, his “omegas should stay home and be pregnant” inspire so much distaste in me. It’s one thing to disdain people putting themselves in high-risk scenarios for money, but the “Just accept your life is garbage and you’ll always be oppressed” rhetoric is so gross coming from someone who’s seen the result of that but isn’t the target of said oppression — obviously, he also faced problems (not being able to go into medicine because he’s an alpha) but being locked out of a career because you might be dangerous is totally different from being forced to work at home because it’s too dangerous to work outside. I know he’s not bad at heart and will undergo character growth, but I still dislike him 😭😭

But that’s ok. I can dislike him as a person but appreciate him as a vehicle for storytelling.

  6. Thank you for the translation!!!

I get that.. ‘my sis was stubern no marking..went into heat.. got ganged up on. Got kid.. depression killed herself.. or got marked by some abusive sleeze due to same situation concept and again death…’

Maybe im just being pessimistic due to the usual concept of the ABO universe.. heres hoping my idea is wrong…

  7. I’m slightly relieved that Du Chen might not be considered as Qiu Yu’s lover based on his back story. I really have an ick or pet peeve against love triangles. Hopefully, Du Chen only sees him as a friend or a person to look out for (platonic).

  8. My theory is like this: His sister wants to remove her gland (gland removal like that) bit the surgery failed and she dies… that’s why Du Chen wants to be a doctor(?) But can’t because I think only betas are accepted, that’s why he’s opposed with the gland removal of Qui Yu because it might failed….😭😭😭

Well that’s just my theory for now😁😊

  9. Haha! You think this stereotypical lonesome is gonna make me not hate your character? Ahahaha! You’re wrong author! aggressively rubbing his head

  10. Damn, I was low key joking earlier when I wondered which omega died and left him like this. But still he’s gotta deal with his trauma somehow

  11. Well I’m really sorry that happened to your sister but it still doesn’t give you the right to demand that Qiu Yu ‘submit’ to being suppressed and dominated for being born an omega. I feel terrible for Du Chen and his family but I cannot in good faith agree with his viewpoints.
