Heart felt an immediate attack on his heart and sucked in a breath in surprise.
“What about your bags?” Heart asked, staring at the suitcases, which would never make it across all the sand.
“It’s fine. All my stuff for work is in this shoulder bag here. One of those is just snacks, the other one is clothes, the third bag is filled with…”
Heart leaned forward, anticipating what he would say as Saint paused.
“It’s a secret.” Saint said.
Heart rolled his eyes.
“Anyway, we can just leave them here.”
“What!”
“Saint, we can’t do that. What if they get stolen?”
“And if they do?”
Heart looked at him as if he were insane.
“That’s really irresponsible of you. It’s a wasteful attitude to have.”
“Heart.” Saint said, interrupting.

“If someone takes it, then they need the stuff inside or the money from it more than I ever could.”

Heart smiled gently. “I am starting to see that.” He whispered.
‘Who could have known that there really is the sliver of a saint under all that spoiled privilege. I mean he is still so far from a normal person, it’s not even the same league, but I can see a human in there after all. Saint you surprise me.’
Heart let go of the handles of the bags and started towards the water. There were a few small groups of people in the distance enjoying the water and their pleasing sounds floating towards them from in the background were exciting and inviting.
“Wait one second, okay.” Saint said then opened the largest gray bag.
Heart smiled. “Wow, there are so many snacks.”
“Mhhhmmm.”
“Take anything you want okay.”
“Just in case.”
Heart’s eyes shone and he reached in grabbing four of his favorite snacks.
He could feel Saint watch him out of the corner of his eye. His nerves kicked in telling him to put them all back. But as he reached down to reposition the snack back inside to fit. He caught Saint’s frown of disapproval and pulled back before he could do it.
“Thanks.. I will eat these well.” He said slowly. Then opened one and started eating the small twisty corn puffs.
Heart watched Saint zip up the bag before standing it back up. Then he turned and looked at the beautiful blue green clear water.
His hair whipped gently in the slight breeze and the soft sound of laughter, chatter, and waves floated towards them only broken by the soft crunching of Heart’s own chewing.
Heart walked towards that blue green a ghosting of warm sunlight on his skin and lips, his own laughter in his ears.
Memories washed over him, laughing, playing in the sun with Min. Being little again.
Heart felt his fingers hit the bottom of the little bag, and sighed as he was brought out of his dream of a happier, less stressed time.
He crumpled it up and shoved the bag into his pocket.
Saint walked beside him, his hair barely moving in the wind due to the gel in it. But he smiled gently.
Heart looked at him, surprised.
“Do you like places like this?”
Saint looked at him and chuckled softly.
“Of course I do, I’m not a monster.”
“Who doesn’t like the ocean?”
“Honestly, you amuse me sometimes.” Saint reached out and used his index finger to flick Heart in the forehead ruffling his hair upwards.
Heart blinked up at him, then smiled slowly.
Heart looked down at the sand, feeling very awkward as his heart fluttered inside his chest.
He opened the next package a small snack sized bag of root chips. Spicy flavor.
He grabbed one and crunched the chip slowly.
Saint reached in at the same time as him and their hands bumped together. Saint’s hand slid into the bag while Heart’s just lay atop the crumpled plastic three fingers resting gently atop the back of Saint’s hand.
Heart gulped slowly before pulling back his hand and wrapping it around his neck rubbing it out of habit.
Saint lifted up his hand with two chips in his palm and held it out offering it to Heart.
Heart stared up at him, then back down at the two different colored chips, one orange one white. The tips of his fingers brushed delicately against Saint’s palm.
Heart grabbed the white chip feeling like if he said anything his mouth would betray his feelings.
Saint popped the chip that was left in his hand into his mouth quickly chomping it loudly. Before giving Heart a saucy wink and cheekily striding away towards the water.
Leaving Heart watching after him wondering just who he had angered to make his life take this kinda turn.
He shook his head with a heavy sigh before tossing the chip into his mouth, dusting his hands off and walking after the taller devil of a man.
Thanks!!! I’m loving Saint more and more. But then, anything can happen🙃
Awe thanks for reading. I am so happy you are enjoying it. Saint is someone that is hard not to love once you get to know him. XD
The funny thing about this book series is there really is no villain there is just a series of consequences and actions.
I like that idea of no villain!
