I changed it to green garnishings. The original text is mint and according to ASPCA or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, mint is a toxic plant to cats. Some blogs stated that a small quantity is fine but for me, if you are allergic to something, the food will trigger a reaction regardless of how it was prepared. So I left it vague.

  2. Mint poisoning with cats isn’t an allergic reaction, but depends on the dose or amount of mint the cat ingests. Like how it’s possible for a person to be exposed to heavy metals, but only get heavy metal poisoning at a certain blood level. Nonetheless, it would probably be safer to garnish with catnip (Nepeta cataria) than mint (Mentha spp.), but it’s possible the author may be referring to Chinese mint (Mentha canadensis L.), which I don’t know how safe or not that is for cats versus the common garden mint/spearmint (Mentha spicata). A nibble or sniff of the common mint is usually fine. (Side note: catnip is part of the mint family and is regarded as safe for cats. But if a cat eats too much, they can get stomach upset and vomiting or diarrhea.)
    • Woooh, thank you so much for the informative comments. That’s why I was confuse, catnip is in the mint family but mint is not safe for cat. But it makes so much more sense the way you put it 😀
