The Black Saint is My StalkerCh156 - Violence incarnate

The west fell to ruin. Clouds of debris bloomed as rubble piled. Concrete rumbled, cracked. The earth groaned.

A winged figure emerged from the debris, white feathers outstretched and a black third eye on his brow. With a vantage point up in the skies, Cyrus looked down, surveying the wreckage below. 9j4Ube

As dust cleared, a ruby glow was revealed. The abomination had coal-like skin, deeper than midnight in hue. The being had a multitude of arms; fanned out and each tipped with clawed hands.

Was this Han Li? Or was it a monster born from the remains of Han Li, one twisted by experiments; whose demon soul was left without its human counterpart?

Cyrus had not the time to ponder the mysteries behind this entity. Suddenly, the old desire demon was assaulted with a sense of urgency. His hands transformed into sturdy talons, sharp. Cyrus summoned a flurry of feathers; colored the same ivory shade of his pristine wings. They danced around him like a protective shield. He angled himself down and dove like a bullet through the sky; like a descending comet that sought destruction.

And yet, two red eyes only watched with apparent impassive glee. Han Li’s shirt had long been torn to shreds from his demon transformation. Miasma proliferated. He flexed his arms; all twelve of them and felt their strength simmering just beneath layers of skin and muscle, hidden within the marrow of his bones. A comet of white tore through the sky and threatened to befall him. soP4Vl

Han Li didn’t so much as bat a lash, unthinking of the encroaching threat.

All he knew was that he was hungry.

All he knew was the wrath born from his demonic nature; one that laid behind layers of seals and carefully cultivated human front.

What for?

Han Li looked down and observed his own palm; a dark and blackened appendage marked with intricate lines of red. There was an eye at its center, ruby. He flexed his fingers and admired the way light caught on his claws.

Why did he even bother with playing human? Looking back it all felt so absurd. Playing human never fed his hunger. Playing human never brought any meaning, any satisfaction. In the end, all he needed to do was to eat and grow. All he wanted was to harvest rage and carve out a territory of his own.

Han Li was wrath, vengeance, and violence incarnate.

He didn’t need anything else. EG3SqT

A sharp talon broke through the thicket of miasma that surrounded Han Li. But the wrath demon’s reflexes were immaculate. A black claw caught the offending arm poised against Han Li. Black lips stretched, revealing fangs. “Caught you.”

And even if he feared to know the source of such terrifying power, in his heart, Graham already understood.

He already… mgQGUt

He ran as fast as he could. The Meglatoras young master remained at his side. But Duan Jiayu had since disappeared during their advance, sneakily breaking away when Graham fought through the tumbling bits of infrastructure that rained down from above.

The Saint of Eternity had no mind to even care about the developments. He only wanted to keep moving. He saw the being that shot up into the sky, familiar white wings cast shadows on the ground below before it barreled down. The desire demon Cyrus. But the desire prince was too occupied with something else that loomed within the wreckage below.

Graham stood atop a slight slope of fallen floorboards. The exposed split in the building loomed over him, casting a dark shadow among the settling clouds of dust. He thought he caught sight of a crimson glow amid the dense thicket of miasma that persisted there. He wasn’t too sure though. But whatever it was, was at least six stories from where he stood, and Graham couldn’t quite make out what was happening above.

“I wouldn’t get any closer if I were you,” a rough voice suddenly called his attention. Graham spotted a figure that carefully ambled out of the fallen debris. He recognized the person at once; dark skin, dreadlocks, and silver jewelry. Graham wasn’t that surprised to see Jayden here. PWv Te

“…” Graham held back a scoff, his lips pulled taut in impatience and annoyance. But whatever retort he had on his lips felt insufficient; for they would only ring hollow to a man like Jayden Lee Jones. After all, Graham had been the one to tell Jayden to follow legal channels. It seemed that neither of them had.

The irony wasn’t lost on him.

Still, Graham turned away and pretended like he hadn’t heard a word. There was a fallen pipeline and a slope of messy bits of debris that lead towards the higher ledge.

By then, Cyrus had brought in his wings and proceeded to dive down but that didn’t deter Graham from climbing up. XO19id

“Wait—“ this time, it was the voice of Iszak Bathory that called to him. “Perhaps now is not the wisest hour to engage—“

But that too fell on deaf ears. Graham continued his climb. He thought he could make out a black shape amid the thicket of miasma. He sent out a blast of divine power, hoping to clear the simmering miasma.

It didn’t even dent the dense clouds that proliferated.

The white comet fell; Cyrus collided with the black shape that occupied the wrecked floor ledge. A boom thundered and the building’s infrastructure, already damaged and half-collapsed trembled once more. Graham lost his footing somewhere but he clung onto the ledge either way, almost desperately. His eyes shut, keeping out the dust that flew from the collision. DLUA1n

Efforts were proven to bear little fruit. A giant slab of concrete fell from above and Graham struggled to get out of the way without losing his progress in closing in. He’d been in more precarious situations before; this was hardly the first time in his long time he’d faced such a dilemma.

And yet he struggled. He struggled against his failing patience, his clouded mind, and his palpitating heart. He struggled when the concrete slab collided with the piece of debris on which he clung; knocking him off balance and dislodging his grip. He struggled when he fought to scramble atop a nearby piece of wall that jutted out from the building’s half-ruined state. Graham fought with all that he could to get a closer look, losing his calm to the torrential emotions that swam within.

A little more, one more step, another, and over one more ledge, higher. Graham would climb, even as the debris came loose beneath his feet.

The black shadow above moved so fast, no human eyes could dream of following. There was a deafening blast, the air saturated and suffocating. Two different ilks of miasma collided. A battle was unfolding, that featured powers so magnificent that it was impossible for lesser beings to approach. go4tT2

Luckily, Graham was no ordinary person, for he had fought Goliaths and even gods in the past. This type of miraculous feat was not alien to him, and it did not strike fear into his soul.

(But his heart did thunder.)

(Sweat did bead beneath his palms.)

(He needed to go forward, yet why couldn’t he think straight?) Obf9Qm

With one foot after the next, Graham soon found himself over the ledge that blocked his view.

Graham could not make any sense of what he saw.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Twelve arms fanned out, like blackened wings. The creature— being— demon, had his back turned to Graham. Raven hair was adorned with a black halo; glowing red. The demon was kneeling; there was wet, sickly squelch.

Something rolled on the ground and knocked Graham’s boot. It was a severed claw, a thick owl’s talon that twitched at Graham’s heel. Slowly, it turned to a dark mist and dissipated in the air. btrX7x

The black figure in front of Graham was slow to rise. The air was thick, the wind gentle. Soft hair danced around a dark visage, skin as deep as the abyss itself. The demon had on a pair of white pants; long soiled by gore and sinew. His chest was bare, revealing rouge markings and two sets of ruby eyes at the center of his chest along the throat and sternum. Graham didn’t even notice the mass of gore that lay at the demon’s feet.

The demon, otherworldly, did not show any hint of emotion, his face carved to display perfect serenity.

An eerie chill traveled down Graham’s spine. For all of the being’s ethereal might and inhuman glamor, Graham was able to pick out the faintest hints of familiarity.

The clues were all there; in the angle of the demon’s jaw, the delicate curve of his lips, even the width of his shoulders, perhaps. Or the way his lashes fanned out over his cheeks. BHaFMC

Graham parted his lips but his voice died in his throat.

“…Han Li?”

Dark lashes parted, revealing ruby red. Not even an inkling of recognition flickered there.

  4. So instead of him leading the assault against whatever abomination the DASR would have ever brought into light to fulfill their (un)good intentions and (ig)noble plans, he himself became that abomination (one super sexy abomination that is). I bet the evil masterminds of the DASR never expected that kind of outcome. Oh and the UGLY is dead, oh goody.

So now what? What will you do, dear Saint? One thing for sure, even if Han Li recovers from this situation, the mess that’s about to hit them in the future will be epic.

    Thank you for the chapter!!!
