Story of Another UsCh23 - The Haunting

“Argh!” Misharu screamed as he made the heads of the one hundred AI robots’ inside the training room explode. The blazing flames that came with the explosion eerily reflected in his gray eyes before it triggered the emergency water system and sent forth a shower.

Misharu was relentless, he was powerful and limitless. Despite his defeat, he was clearly still someone who held an immense ability. He was still able to explode minds even after being through an intense mental war just a couple of hours ago, and he wouldn’t be tired even if he did it again for a couple more times. DkToB1

He was still the same infamous Misharu Tsai, a powerful telepath.

The only difference now was that there was someone better than him in the Academy.

“Tch…” Misharu clicked his tongue in annoyance as he stepped out of the room, immediately being blow dried by a robot aid.

It was useless getting wrapped up in this bullshit. That Decebal Yan may have humiliated him, but so what? His condition was that he wouldn’t appear in front of him ever again, and that’s actually fine with Misharu. He could pretend that bastard didn’t exist and continue on with his life. People will forget about it and if they dare judge and dissect him just because some puny telepath managed to overwhelm him during an informal fight, then Misharu will just fuck with their brains like he usually does. “Son of a bitch,” Misharu swore at a mental image of Decebal Yan for the last time before he headed back to his own dorm. He still had his academic workload to deal with, which was nice. Distracting himself was the best thing to do now that he was still incredibly annoyed and couldn’t get rid of this irk so easily.

Clop. Clop. Clop.

Misharu stopped. He quickly mentally scouted the hall, then immediately felt a presence behind him.

He mentally cupped at the wall of the presence’s mind and didn’t hesitate to dip in, like he was putting his finger inside a glass filled with water.

Misharu suddenly froze, shock crossing over his expression from the intense barrage of horrible, indescribable imagery of the macabre.

Flinching away before he could fully invade this person’s mind, Misharu suddenly dashed down the hall towards the opposite direction. He was sweating, heart pounding fast from fright with the hairs all over his skin standing upright, like a spooked cat.

“What the fuck!” he yelled as he ran towards the emergency alarm in a frenzied panic. “There’s an intruder! Fuck! This person is–”

Misharu suddenly stood still, unable to move. His eyes widened as he tried mobilizing his limbs, but they wouldn’t budge. sgGUOA

The hall was suddenly drenched in inky black darkness. The night was still, and everything was silent.

The failing of the senses, the paralysis of the limbs…

But to no avail.

“You are very courageous,” came a deep, rumbling voice that didn’t sound human and seemed to come from right beneath Misharu’s feet. “Very powerful. You don’t have to feel inferior.” dgYat4

“W-Who says I am inferior!” Misharu shouted in his thoughts.

“I like how strong you are,” the entity chuckled pleasantly. “It will make breaking you all the more fun.”

A bloodcurdling scream ripped out of Misharu’s throat.

Sebi turned around, startled out of his wits by the scream. He reached out, trying to fight against the dense smoky influence of someone’s ability messing with everyone’s brains within the building, including his. Sebi could feel that whoever was responsible for all of this was someone entirely out of their league. He hated himself for not bringing with him the earphones that Necomir had given him. 0wq8FY

After an incredible exertion of energy, Sebi finally broke through the dense smoke and located the epicenter of all the activity with much difficulty.

He wanted to make sure everyone in the dormitory was alright, but he wasn’t sure if he could handle it all on his own. Sebi eventually decided he should just focus on finding out the one responsible for this, then deal with the problem afterward.

He didn’t forget to send a quick message to Headmaster Juno while heading straight towards the epicenter.

Sebi ran down the emergency exit, trying his best to hide. He headed down towards the second floor, but upon reaching out to the door to enter back into the building, he suddenly sensed that there was someone at the other side of the door. wSLCxs

With his eyes narrowed, Sebi didn’t hesitate and swung his hand, opening the door to the outside. A startled yelp leaped out of the person as Sebi suddenly made him levitate a few feet off the ground.

“Decebal, don’t kill me! It’s me!”

It was Akhenaten, who was struggling while being suspended in the air against Sebi’s bind.

“I’m sorry!” Sebi cried out as he immediately let go of him, letting Akhenaten safely settle back to his feet on the ground. “I didn’t mean it, I thought–” Kgj2cF

“It’s fine, it’s fine!” Akhenaten said, reaching out to grasp his shoulders. “Listen, there’s something wrong with everyone inside the dormitory!”

Sebi perked up and nodded. “I know. There seems to be someone with a telepathy-like ability tampering with everyone’s minds. Everyone seems to be affected by a hallucination of darkness and silence. How about you? What did you see, and why aren’t you affected?”

“You’re right! That’s what I thought too since they can’t penetrate into my mind. I’m immune to telepaths,” Akhenaten said. “I saw my classmate next door frozen in place and paralyzed, his eyes were shaking! I kept trying to wake him up, but nothing worked.”

Sebi hummed and nodded his head. “Good. Now that you’re here, we’re both capable of handling the situation before help arrives. We’ll have to do something before things get worse.” TmU7EW

“Did you contact Necomir?” Akhenaten wondered.

Sebi shook his head. “He’s going to come back to the dorm late, he’ll be safe in his lab. It’s far from the dormitory. I contacted the headmaster instead.”

Akhenaten looked uncertain as someone who had always relied on Necomir. He had the ability to find the source quickly and could quickly find out how to defeat them based on the clues left by past events, but Akhenaten eventually shook his head.

That wasn’t right. Necomir wasn’t invincible, he’ll be overwhelmed by the kind of person they were going up against, even if he used an anti-telepathy equipment. 2dNJgy

Akhenaten gave the other man a determined look. “Then Decebal, what is our plan?”

“Let’s head this way,” Sebi said, pointing down the hall. “Be on high alert, I want to find out who’s causing this.”

“Have you already located the position of the source?”

“Yeah… and I also heard a scream.” Xfhnte

“Then we have to hurry!” Akhenaten anxiously exclaimed. “We can’t have a schoolmate being bullied by–”

Sebi suddenly hissed as the smoky influence of the ability user began to thicken. It felt suffocating, like a blanket trying to cover up his whole brain, effectively blocking out his control over his body.

“Decebal?!” Akhenaten anxiously said, reaching out to the other man who bent over, like he was in pain.

Waving his hand, Sebi stuttered, “I-I need a moment… The smoke… It’s…” Fc3MuU

Akhenaten brought a hand out and produced a force field around them.

Sebi immediately felt his mind completely being unwounded from the spell, and he looked at Akhenaten in awe.

“That’s so cool,” Sebi generously praised him as he stood up and massaged his chest. “Your force field doesn’t just block out tangible masses, you can even block out mental attacks!”

Akhenaten felt a bit smug and acted both cool yet humble. “It’s nothing much, you’re still more powerful than me.” UdIsrT

He then looked down the hallway, and an unprecedented expression of determination crossed his face.

“We need to stop all this.”

Sebi nodded. “Let’s go.”
