Now, it was the time for the most exciting part. Rewards.
Shan Ziwei picked up Little Gaia who was on his leg. “Completion Report.”
Little Gaia obediently regurgitated the sheep-skin scroll. Outwardly, it didn’t look any different from the Adventure Mode completion report. Shan Ziwei unfurled the scroll. There was no blue light this time. It seemed that the experience he had gained this time wasn’t enough for him to level up.

Little Gaia gave a little [?] speech bubble, head cocked to one side as Shan Ziwei slapped his own face with his hand. The white-haired young man held his head in his hands in exhaustion, trying to block out the song now stuck in his head. The descriptions were as crazy as ever. All three items had to do with stereotypical witches, probably because he had played a witch in the last chessboard.
After reading the information sent to him by Dawn Night Studio, Shan Ziwei could now glean more from the Scenario Card. First, the suit and value. The suit was the trends of attack, defense, healing and CC, while the value represented the level of the card. The higher the value, the stronger the card. For example, for the three cards currently in Shan Ziwei’s hands, “Five of Spades – Magic Broom” was the best card without a doubt.
The meaning of the suits and values were easy enough to figure out after a while of gaming. That was the guess that had been forming in Shan Ziwei’s mind as well. Yet, Dawn Night’s information didn’t end there. The one thing that Shan Ziwei felt like he had learned the most from was the information on “link effects”.
In “RPG”, highly linked Scenario Cards would automatically merge into one Scenario when used together. For example, if a player used the five Scenario Cards “Ten of Diamonds – Golden Helmet”, “Ten of Diamonds – Golden Cuirass”, “Ten of Diamonds – Golden Tassets”, “Ten of Diamonds – Golden Gauntlets” and “Ten of Diamonds – Golden Chausses”, they wouldn’t get five Personal Scenarios like “Scenario One: You’re wearing a Golden Helmet”, “Scenario Two: You’re wearing a Golden Cuirass”, etc. Instead, they would gain a single Personal Scenario like “Scenario One: You’re wearing a set of armour crafted from gold, blessed by the God of Gold. It neutralises all ranged attacks.”
Simply put, these five cards would only take up one slot in one’s Personal Scenarios and would activate a set effect. It was on the players and their ability to connect things to figure out which Scenario Cards could link. Apart from that, some Scenario Cards would hint at possible links in their descriptions. For example, the “Two of Diamonds – Pointy Hat” he held in his hand. If Shan Ziwei collected another “Black Cloak” to use with his “Pointy Hat” and “Magic Broom”, they might link into Witch’s Set.
… Though of course, a certain hypersexual wasn’t at all happy. Whoever wanted to be a witch could have it!
Shan Ziwei returned the sheep-skin scroll to Little Gaia. Like before, the scroll was double-sided. This time, remembering his previous tragic experiences, didn’t turn it over. Little Gaia stared silently at the scroll, like looking at a love letter that had been rejected. It opened its mouth wide and swallowed it whole, both the words and the scroll.
Shan Ziwei patted Little Gaia’s head, as he checked over his current inventory. “Chess box, Golden Arrow x2, White Paper Book, Relationship Scenario Card x2, Scenario Card x3, Normal SP Potion x12, MP Recovery Potion x3, and all sorts of chess pieces… huh? The slots increased.”
Shan Ziwei suddenly remembered that before he went into the Reverse Fairytale chessboard, he had fed Little Gaia a couple of chess pieces. Seems like his Toybox had levelled up.
“Fifteen slots now.” Shan Ziwei asked Little Gaia, “Did any of your other abilities improve?”
Little Gaia nodded. It swayed about, jumping onto the ground before suddenly tossing out a huge shop from its mouth, which landed with a loud “thud” in front of Shan Ziwei.
Though it wasn’t the first time he saw it, Shan Ziwei was still shocked by this cartoon logic. He walked into the shop with Little Gaia in his arms. At last, it wasn’t just entirely filled with potions. Shan Ziwei even saw a Scenario Card. However, when the hypersexual ran over to it, he was doused with cold water.

Shan Ziwei had found out from Dawn Night Studio’s info that Toyboxes can’t create Relationship Scenario Cards. They were a special kind of Scenario Card that could only be obtained from the game or shop. Thus, the info he had received had urged him to buy Relationship Scenario Cards whenever they appeared in the shop. They were a rare, yet crucial consumable.
Apart from Relationship Scenario Cards, the upgraded shop had gotten some consumable items like bullets, arrows, batteries, etc. Shan Ziwei bought a couple of batteries and bullets so that he could use the Tracker Tagging Gun and Multipurpose Tracker he had obtained from Slaughter Hospital.
After making all the preparations, Shan Ziwei checked Sha Po Lang’s little wolf plush and found that the other had sent a lot of messages over the week, at first frequent, then less so. The most recent one was yesterday, thinking he had quit the game. Shan Ziwei hurriedly explained his situation. Shan Ziwei felt like he was suffocating, not just because of the weather, but also because of the sea of people he saw. In the past chessboards, the most Shan Ziwei had seen were three players, but this time there were at least five, and they were all girls.
Shan Ziwei subconsciously took a step back and almost slammed into the person behind him.
“!”
Just as a crisis was about to happen, the hypersexual’s honed dodging instincts activated. He turned 360 degrees on his left foot, just missing the other and opening his mouth to apologise, “Sor-”
