Our Sweet DaysChapter 78

”Now, then,” Hua Xingyi said approximately ten minutes later, after he’d utterly decimated a bag of chips and drank most of his soda. ”You wanted to talk,” Hua Xingyi reminded them, like Sun Fang had forgotten. To be fair, he’d kind of gotten so caught up in watching Hua Xingyi’s delight that he’d been a little distracted. Possibly, the reason why Hua Xingyi was sitting here had maybe kind of slipped his mind. Maybe.

Okay, definitely. 35EdIa

Nodding, he scooted forward a little on the booth’s couch. ”I want to get to know you. I was, kind of, hoping we could be friends.”

Hua Xingyi’s eyes drifted as he thought. He tilted his head and hummed. He said, then, ”So this isn’t just you trying to convince me to have sex with you in some kind of wild vacation adventure?”

Sun Fang sat up straight. ”Does that happen to you often?” he asked. Yesterday, Hua Xingyi’s mind had gone straight to sex too, and Sun Fang had half-thought it’d been a joke. But he seemed completely serious now, mouth set in a thin line and his eyes looking straight at Sun Fang. His back was straight, too, and his elegant hands were squeezing tight around the soda glass.

Hua Xingyi shrugged. ”Often enough,” he said. He took a sip from his soda and then grimaced. Presumably, the ice in the soda melting had thinned the drink enough that it no longer fit his taste. Pushing the glass away and frowning again, he looked back at Sun Fang with suspicious eyes and asked, ”If it’s not about sex, than what do you want?” KoreRg

”Like I said, I want to be friends,” Sun Fang answered. He placed his hands on the table in full view of the other omega and threaded his fingers together. He smiled, trying to project kindness.

Hua Xingyi pursed his mouth. He opened another bag of chips and snagged one, plopping it in his mouth and biting down on it. The sound of the crispy chip cracking was loud to Sun Fang’s keen senses, but he didn’t react—just waited for Hua Xingyi to respond. Eventually, Hua Xingyi swallowed the last bit of the chip and licked his lips (licking his fingers too), and said, ”You have my number. Just… I don’t know, call me or something. Do friend stuff.” Then he frowned, apparently confused by what he’d said.

Sun Fang smiled. ”I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable,” he said. Then he glanced at Ivy, eyes widening. Smiling wider, he leaned into the mistake and leaned forward at the same time as he grabbed Ivy’s hand and pulled it up on the table. ”I haven’t introduced you yet,” he noted, glancing back momentarily at Ivy’s stony visage. Then he grinned and turned to face Hua Xingyi again. ”This is Ivy, my butler. It’s the absolute best person you’ll ever meet,” Sun Fang proudly declared.

Hua Xingyi straightened and bowed. ”Hello, I am Hua Xingyi,” he said, presenting his hand to Ivy when he sat up again. Ivy stared at that hand—it was pale, the fingers long and elegant and the nails a pretty blue color—for a heart-stopping moment before it gripped the hand and shook it. Sun Fang exhaled softly, his eyes almost watering.

”Hello, I am Ivy,” said Ivy, voice unmistakably mechanical. Hua Xingyi twitched a little in shock, his eyes widening. Then he smiled and nodded his head, shaking Ivy’s hand decisively.

Sun Fang nearly fanned himself.

”Do you like this job?” Sun Fang asked after a bit, having watched Ivy opening and closing its hand in childlike wonder. It made Sun Fang’s stomach flutter, that expression. He snapped around ten pictures while Ivy was distracted.

”It pays well,” Hua Xingyi answered, vagueness that nevertheless did provide a clue to his thoughts. The other omega was back at snacking on his chips, eating at a much slower pace now. He was more nibbling on them then anything, his eyes concentrated on the bag as he peered into it for the largest chips.  SzH93O

Sun Fang hummed. He said, ”I looked up your modeling, I hope that was alright?”

”’S fine,” Hua Xingyi shrugged, eyes not leaving the chips. His eyes only glanced away to quickly check the time on a digital wall clock.

”Good, good,” Sun Fang nodded. He added, ”You’re pictures are really good. Do you like modeling?”

Hua Xingyi looked at him, then back at the chips. ”I really like it. But I’m not popular enough, so I can’t live off it. Mostly I just do magazines and adds. Certainly, I’ve never done any of that—more complicated stuff. Like catwalks.” qYWVIM

Sun Fang bobbed his head. He crossed his legs and leaned his body against Ivy. ”You’re really good,” he said.

Hua Xingyi blushed, rising a hand to wave his compliment away. ”Thanks,” he said, voice low. He immediately threw in three pieces of chips in his mouth and bit down on them, cheeks puffing out like a chipmunk. Sun Fang huffed out a laugh, holding his hand over his mouth to hide it.

When Hua Xingyi’s eyes drifted to the clock again, Sun Fang lowered his hand and said, ”I won’t keep you.”

”Mnm, my break’s almost over,” Hua Xingyi said, rising from his chair. He picked up the uneaten bags of chips and smushed them into his pockets, grabbing the glass. ”Thanks for the snacks,” Hua Xingyi said then, smiling just slightly stilted at Sun Fang. Sun Fang didn’t blame him; he got the feeling he might have overwhelmed the man a little with his attention. And beauty. Because Sun Fang was extraordinarily pretty today. bl2vwa

”It’s no problem,” Sun Fang said, waving the other omega off. Hua Xingyi somberly nodded, and then walked off. He watched the omega until Hua Xingyi disappeared into a room behind the bar. Then he turned to Ivy, grinned, and nudged its shoulder. ”He’s nice, right?”

Ivy nodded. ”He’s nice,” it agreed. Sun Fang grinned wider, leaning back on his seat and relaxing.
