  1. wait, shy did the system recomnend giving permission in order to protect his identity? doesn’t it do the opposite?

or protect the identity which MH thinks is an illusion?

    • there are two possibilities for this:

      1) System wants to hide his identity as “Xie Zhi” because he’s supposed to be Xie Zhiwei

      2) System wants to hide his identity as “Xie Zhiwei” because he’s currently pretending to be Chi Yan

in either case, XZW’s memory fragment is vague enough that it could have come from Mu He’s own “memories,” so Mu He wouldn’t be too much the wiser. i think a later chapter references #1 as the ultimate reason, but #2 sounds pretty valid too.

    • I think the memory fragment was recorded from a third-person perspective by Gallant Outlaw, so Mu He will probably think he (Xie Zhiwei) was just someone who was there at that moment instead of his master.

  2. Mu He, bb, how much pain are you holding for a hand in that condition to be something you willingly held onto for 4 years? 😭

And Xie Zhiwei, I am here for your slow realization of your own softening towards this ‘character.’

Then again, I get it. Xie Zhi was already even more primed than most transmigrators to treat this as a job– not only is this a script he refused in his ‘real life,’ but every time he looks at the main character, and sees the face of someone he knows in reality, his sense that this is all a play or has a layer of fakeness must be enhanced. That plus having the author occasionally chirping in his ear (even with great/funny insights) must really reinforce that this is all pretend, even when he starts to feel that it’s not.

Not to mention– why would he want to treat it as real? I think we see that here. The more emotionally invested he is in Mu He, the less he’d want to see him as a real person, because if he’s real, he’s suffered far too much. It’s painful, and it’s easier to ignore that pain by reminding yourself that it’s just plot, not living.

Poor babu. Even if it’s frustrating that he’s been clinging so much to this distance, I get it and would probably react very similarly as a protection mechanism. Well that or I’d run away from the plot entirely and try to be a koi husbandrist in the sect or something.

  3. OMG

    ‘MEMORY’

so why didn’t you use the screenshot feature more often!!!

the first criteria of being a stupid dad is excessive picture taking!!!
