  9. I realise it’s common in Chinese culture to have so many people with the same surname. Or rather, nearly the same pronounciation or Pinyin spelling. But man can it be confusing for western readers. At least native speakers understand the different characters used and have it easier keeping families in order.

    Still though, even if I need to pause to sort things out in my head I much prefer the original names over switching them to something like Steve or Frank. Shudder OMG just the thought gives me chills.
