I still feel sorry for Grandfather Wang… if his sons hadn’t caved in too easily to LMF’s paternal grandson because it was more convenient to leave behind a competitor for resources than bring their nephew back to his maternal family, his grandfather probably would have raised him with affection. I’ll bet Mufeng’s paternal grandfather probably dug in his heels trying to get some extra benefits, and was shocked when the uncles immediately went, “ Oh, you can’t bear to give up your precious grandson? Okay, toodle-loo!” Of course, Mufeng hasn’t any idea what actually happened after his parents died… and we only know because of the bits of information dropped by the Wang characters…

   • I think this is a fundamental cause of family strife. The lack of communication and everything bad not being acknowledged or talked about. Just shaking your head and sighing doesn’t fix trauma. No one has yet actually stood in front of LMF (or JX) and given an honest apology and explanation. It’s so frustrating.

   • If the grandfather really wanted to bring him back nothing could stop him from taking back his grandson. It was an half-assed attempt. Remember that the Wang family has a higher status than the Liu family. Also his daughter wouldn’t have died if he didn’t chased her away, not even willing to help her. It’s only because he is of great use why they are behaving like this. If the 13 year old Mufeng went to him he would have still thrown him out and ignore him. The first time the city lord mention him he frown and said he’s not apart of the family since he drove the mother out.

     • Based on the later chapters, I think the grandfather genuinely thought his grandson was getting the required care, and kept on being salty about it. I think if he’d realized there was something fishy, he would have removed LMF. But he didn’t check, so…

       • Imo if he rly cares he would’ve been involved at least a lil n learned more to be able to help like lmf fourth aunt was in sending him stuff.
