Qiu Ming was driving Zhan Jun Bai back to the mansion after leaving the mental hospital. He was gazing at Zhan Jun Bai in the rearview mirror as he drove, building his confidence to speak, opening his lips, and swallowing his words numerous times.

Zhan Jun Bai was still preoccupied with Jiang Yue Lou’s issues and didn’t notice the other person’s actions. “Ask Sun Heying to return to Jingcheng and put him on watch in the mental hospital,” he said after a time, raising his head and looking at Qiu Ming in the mirror.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

This was the formal procedure to initiate Jiang Yue Lou’s recruitment. Qiu Ming nodded once he received the instructions.

But after hesitating for a while, he finally cautiously mentioned, “Director, there is a new development regarding Boss Yu.” AKDMTk

Zhan Jun Bai frowned, seemingly displeased, “Didn’t I make myself clear when I asked you to stop investigating him?”

Qiu Ming’s hands shook as he was driving, but he insisted on saying, “Before Brother Jiu received the notice to stop, he had already found this new information. It’s important, you should listen to it.”

Zhan Jun Bai closed his eyes and leaned against the back of the car seat, “Say it.”

“Brother Jiu showed the picture of Boss Yu during his inquiry and found a distant relative of the Fu family. After that person looked at the photo, he said that Boss Yu resembled…a lot to someone named Fu Cheng.”

PHvA3j

“Fu Cheng?” Zhan Jun Bai searched for the name in his memory. “The second son of the Fu family who was never found?”

Qiu Ming nodded, “Yes.”

Zhan Junbai narrowed his eyes slightly as he started to remember.

He was eighteen years old at that time and was fighting in Zhan Tian Qing’s army. SurqpA

That year, he led the main force to attack the city and received praise from Zhan Tian Qing afterward. However, there were members of the royal family in this city who not only refused to surrender but also tried to incite the people to resist. In a rage, Zhan Jun Bai killed all the members of the Fu family except the second son, who, against all odds, managed to escape.

Zhan Jun Bai touched his watch again, looking at the emerald dial on his wrist. He instantly figured it out. No wonder Yu Tang Chun was asking about this watch persistently, no wonder he poisoned Zhan Tian Qing’s snacks. If he was Fu Chen, then everything would make sense. But what if he wasn’t?

Qiu Ming persisted, saying,To be ready for any eventualities*, I think we should get rid of this Boss Yu right away, just in case.”

But because “this eventuality” was so special to him, Zhan Jun Bai couldn’t decide what to do. r1pqSt

“Director, I’ve been working under you for more than ten years, you have conquered the world by killing decisively. You should not hesitate now; instead, keep your composure and swim away from this case for the sake of the greater good…”

“What are the characteristics of this Fu Cheng?” Zhan Junbai raised his head, interrupting Qiu Ming.

Qiu Ming’s eyes flashed with a hint of excitement, “It is said that he has been weak since childhood, and has had to rely all his life on medicine prepared by the imperial physician. The herbs contained in these pills are incompatible with eating crabs and, if taken carelessly, it would be life-threatening for him. When he was eight years old, he was craving it and stole a few bites of crabs, and almost didn’t make it.”

Zhan Jun Bai paused for a moment before deciding, “Inform the kitchen that we will eat crab tonight.” NCKc9U

He wanted to see with his own eyes what he should do with this “eventuality.”

At dinner time, the table of the Zhan Residence was set with sumptuous dishes, one of which was neatly arranged with steamed crabs. rn4FUW

Yu Tang Chun and Zhan Jun Bai were chatting, coming from the living room. After only two steps, Yu Tang Chun had already coughed twice, and Zhan Jun Bai couldn’t help but ask, “Did you catch a cold?”

Yu Tang Chun shook his head, “It’s nothing. I always suffered from sore throats. I will go to Yu Zhi Tang after dinner to get some medication prescribed. ”

Zhan Jun Bai glanced at Yu Tang Chun with a meaningful look, “I’ve been having a sore neck lately, and I was also planning to go to the clinic to receive Dr. Chen’s acupuncture. I don’t have much to do tonight, I will ask Qiu Ming to drive the two of us there after dinner.”

Yu Tang Chun nodded, “En.” FbnJ8d

While they were talking, the two had already reached the dining room, and when Yu Tang Chun saw the crabs on the table, a flash of panic briefly passed through his face, which was captured by the eyes of Zhan Jun Bai, who was observing him very carefully.

“The crab proposed today for dinner is not as fat and juicy as the one served in autumn, but it should still be tasty.”

After sitting, Zhan Jun Bai grasped his chopsticks, picked up a piece of crab, and put it on Yu Tang Chun’s plate, “This piece of a crab appears to be sufficiently fat; you should try it.”

Yu Tang Chun was completely distressed. He couldn’t tell if Zhan Jun Bai had finally discovered his true identity and was now testing him with this food. He didn’t know what to do; should he just bluntly say that he couldn’t eat the crab, or should he stay cautious and reluctantly eat it? wiZMTs

He had not heard anything about the pastries he had sent to the other Zhan family’s house. He asked Zhan Jun Bai once about it, but the latter just said that he had delivered it and left. So far, Yu Tang Chun hasn’t heard anything about the poisoning. He thought that maybe the other party just threw the pastries without touching them, but it was hard to say whether they had figured it out or not. If the pastries were found poisoned, they would have come after him already, so what was their reason for delaying their sentence for so long?

In just a few seconds, countless thoughts crossed Yu Tang Chun’s mind.

Seeing that he hadn’t moved for a long time, Zhan Jun Bai asked with concern, “Are you worried about hurting your hand?”

Yu Tang Chun maintained a stoical composure and replied with a smile, “I haven’t been on stage for a long time, and didn’t have to force too much on that hand. No, it’s just that I’ve never been a big fan of crabs because they’re always too cold. GAeTU7

The more he avoided it, the more suspicious Zhan Jun Bai was, making him insist, “It’s okay, you should be able to eat a few bites with ginger. “The ginger soup has already been prepared in the kitchen; you can have a bowl later.”

With that said, Zhan Jun Bai personally dismantled the crab and handed it to Yu Tang Chun.

Yu Tang Chun had no other choice than to eat it. Pretending it was okay, he picked up the crab shell, scraped some with his chopsticks, and calmly put it in his mouth.

He did it, determined to die because he knew that Zhan Jun Bai would never make things difficult for anyone without a good reason. If he was acting that way today, it could only mean that Zhan Jun Bai had found out about his past and intended to test him, in which case, he could only hang on and conceal the truth at any cost. uwCJQl

Zhan Jun Bai was indeed trying to test Yu Tang Chun, but in fact, he was still partial to him. When he saw him eating crabs as if there was nothing to it, he immediately felt relieved. Thus, he also took a piece of crab and ate it slowly.

After finishing his crab, Yu Tang Chun suddenly stood up and excused himself, “It’s a bit sticky, I’ll go wash my hands.”

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Zhan Jun Bai didn’t doubt him and even smiled as he watched Yu Tang Chun leave the dining room peacefully.

When he reached the bathroom, Yu Tang Chun’s face turned white instantly. In hurry, he put his fingers in his throat, forced himself to throw up, and turned on the faucet to cover up his vomiting with the sound of the water. Only when he had thrown up everything did he feel a little more at ease.

At this time, Yu Tang Chun’s face was still extremely pale. Facing himself in the mirror, a huge sense of guilt surged in his heart. Gentlemen should be honest with each other. Zhan Jun Bai treated him with the courtesy of a refined man, yet he had deceived him repeatedly. But the bloodshed of his family had to be avenged. Therefore, Yu Tang Chun gritted his teeth and slapped his face a few times, making his skin rosy with the blows.

If there was a chance, he only hopes that when he meets this man again in his next life, there would be no more hatred between them. 19FD8Q

Yu Tang Chun looked at Zhan Junbai and said with a light smile, “It’s nothing, but after drinking ginger tea, I’m feeling a little sweaty.”

Zhan Jun Bai seemed convinced, nodded, and said, “But ginger is good for dispelling a cold.”

Yu Tang Chun also responded with a smile, “En.”

As the car continued to move forward, Yu Tang Chun was looking at the window, his body was in insufferable pain, and the glass could reflect the agony he was enduring silently. o79sQR

When they arrived at Yu Zhi Tang, Chen Yu Yi was alone, seemingly packing up his things and ready to close.

As soon as he walked in, Zhan Jun Bai greeted him. Chen Yu Zhi, realizing that someone was coming in, immediately welcomed them with a smile, “Director Zhan, Boss Yu”.

Yu Tang Chun just nodded slightly, which could count as a greeting.

“Dr. Chen went to visit Section Chief Jiang today. I wonder how he is doing?” Zhan Jun asked with a polite smile on his face. TW8NqR

Chen Yu Zhi faintly froze, recalling Jiang Yue Lou’s attitude in the morning. He was still vaguely angry in his heart, if only Yu Tang Chun had come alone, he might have cursed him. But as Zhan Jun Bai was also there, he could only return a polite smile, thanking the other party for allowing him to visit Jiang Yue Lou, and then said something unrelated.

Zhan Jun Bai still maintained his original attitude, “Since Dr. Chen has confirmed his condition, it’s better to wait for the results of the hospital’s treatment.”

Please visit chrysanthemumgarden (dot) com

The implication behind his words was that he wouldn’t help him to visit Jiang Yue Lou anymore. Chen Yu Zhi could understand Zhan Jun Bai’s position, so he no longer argued, and just thanked him again.

“But for the two of you to come so late, I suppose it’s not to inquire about Yue Lou’s situation? Is one of you feeling uncomfortable?” Chen Yu Zhi asked as a way of changing the subject. OQIsRr

Yu Tang Chun replied first, “The same old throat problem. I finished the medicine you prescribed me last time, and I would like to ask for more. ”

Chen Yu Zhi nodded, “Sure, sit down. “First, I’ll take your pulse.”

Yu Tang Chun walked to the consultation table as instructed. As soon as he turned around, he could no longer maintain a straight face, his pain was obvious, and beads of sweat were pouring out of his forehead.

On the other side of the room, Zhan Jun Bai raised his hand and pressed his neck: “My shoulder and my neck are a bit sore. I heard that Dr. Chen has excellent needle skills, so I was thinking about getting acupuncture to ease my pain.” zdMavb

As he was about to close, Chen Yu Zhi had already put all his needles in an alcohol solution and had to explain, “Unfortunately, I’m still sterilizing the needles right now, and it will take about five more minutes before I can use them again. You should sit in the meantime, I will treat Boss Yu first, and once I’m done with him, it will be about time. ”

“There is no rush”, Zhan Jun Bai said and found a place to sit, where he could observe Yu Tang Chun’s back.

Chen Yu Zhi stepped forward to the consultation table to examine Yu Tang Chun. As soon as he sat down, he noticed that Yu Tang Chun’s expression was extremely wrong.

Taken aback, he was about to ask him what was going on when he saw Yu Tang Chun giving him a meaningful glance, asking him to keep it a secret. Chen Yu Zhi understood it and acted as if nothing had happened, and he took his pulse. hd lDk

The moment he checked his pulse, he knew something was wrong. This was food poisoning.  Afraid that Yu Tang Chun’s internal organs were inflamed and about to fail, he could tell that he was in critical condition. Looking at Yu Tang Chun and facing his pleading eyes, Chen Yu Zhi had to suppress his doubts and think of another way to help him.

Chen Yu Zhi withdrew his hand and glared at Yu Tang Chun “How come you didn’t come until today? I can tell you’ve been off medication for more than a few days. ”

Yu Tang Chun understood what Chen Yu Zhi was up to, and immediately played along, “You were preoccupied with Section Jiang the other day and I didn’t want to trouble you. I also thought it wouldn’t matter to delay it for a few days, which is why I didn’t come earlier. ”

Chen Yu Zhi shook his head, laughing at his absurd excuse, then he started to touch and examine Yu Tang Chun’s throat. V0hBcm

Sitting nearby, Zhan Jun Bai kept his eyes on the two men, observing them cautiously.

“There are several nodules in your throat; come with me. First, I’m going to apply a hot compress and some medicine to it.”

Chen Yu Zhi knew that the only person Yu Tang Chun wanted to hide his current condition was Zhan Jun Bai, and the only way to do that was to give him gastric lavage rapidly.

Yu Tang Chun understood his intentions, smiled at him gratefully, and got up, “Okay.” eLHDK3

When the two were about to go upstairs, Zhan Jun Bai suddenly stood up and called Chen Yu Zhi, “Dr. Chen, it’s been five minutes already.”

Chen Yu Zhi looked at the needles, and couldn’t find any other excuse to leave Zhan Jun Bai alone, so he reluctantly smiled and agreed, “Okay, then the two of you should go up first and I’ll prepare the needles.”

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Zhan Jun Bai nodded and accompanied Yu Tang Chun upstairs.

When everyone arrived on the first floor, he had to find another way to deal with Zhan Jun Bai. hTgBF2

Chen Yu Zhi suggested, “Director Zhan, why don’t you lie down and I’ll do some moxibustion on your back.”

Zhan Jun Bai, who was opposed to the idea, shook his head and said, “No need, just for the neck will do.”

Left with no other alternative, Chen Yu Zhi could only say yes and walked behind Zhan Jun Bai to treat him with the needles.

Yu Tang Chun was sitting opposite Zhan Jun Bai, his face was as pale as paper. With only one glance, Chen Yu Zhi could tell that he would not hold much longer, so he secretly got an idea while looking for the acupuncture points. LQdOJt

Seeing Yu Tang Chun’s terrible complexion, Zhan Jun Bai asked, seemingly concerned, “You don’t seem well since you ate the crab tonight.”

Knowing what he was implying, Yu Tang Chun barely pulled himself together, “I guess the cold wind got me on our way here, but it had nothing to do with the crabs.”

They couldn’t delay any longer. Chen Yu Zhi made up his mind, grabbed a needle, and suddenly pierced Zhan Junbai’s neck at a specific acupuncture point. Zhan Jun Bai was unprepared as his attention was on Yu Tang Chun and after the needle came down, he instantly fainted.

At the same time, Yu Tang Chun had reached his limit, and with a loud “Blargh”, a large mouthful of blood spurted out. 6GLAXf

Chen Yu Zhi helped Zhan Jun Bai to lie down, and hurriedly walked over to Yu Tang Chun, put his arm under his shoulder, and carried him to another compartment.

Fortunately, he had everything he needed in his clinic to perform a stomach lavage. After the emergency rescue, Yu Tang Chun’s life was no longer in danger.

Chen Yu Zhi wiped the sweat from his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief, “An hour later and no one would have been able to save you.”

Yu Tang Chun sagged to the bed, his face flushed, and murmured, “Thank you.” pJx4sW

Chen Yu Zhi didn’t want his gratitude, and chided him, “You know you can’t eat crabs, so why did you take such a risk?”

Taking that risk for one last chance was something Yu Tang Chun couldn’t do, so he simply smiled weakly and asked Chen Yu Zhi to keep this matter private from him.

Seeing how determined he was, Chen Yu Zhi knew that he would not be able to dissuade Yu Tang Chun, and after a while, he could only nod helplessly.

More than anything, Yu Tang Chun’s resolute expression reminded him of Jiang Yue Lou’s. There are people in this world. Once they decide to do something, they will never stop and will go to any extent, even to the risk of their lives. And people like Yu Tang Chun, Jiang Yue Lou, and even him, Chen Yu Zhi, belonged to this category. eCjPF8

Chen Yu Zhi had already promised himself that when Jiang Yue Lou was released from the mental hospital, no matter what, even if he completely collapsed and chose the wrong path, Chen Yu Zhi would drag him back to the light, even if it cost him his life.

When Zhan Jun Bai woke up, he saw Yu Tang Chun lying on the bed next to him with a hot compress on his neck. He looked much better, and his cheeks were not as pale as they were earlier, but were slightly rosier.

Seeing him waking up, Yu Tang Chun asked softly, “Finally awake?”

Zhan Jun Bai was a little surprised, “Did I just fall asleep?” zKS792

Chen Yu Zhi laughed and joked, “You should have been very busy recently; your body was so tired that with only a few needles you completely dozed off.”

Zhan Jun Bai was a little suspicious but had no evidence and everything seemed normal in the clinic. He raised his arm and checked the time, only ten minutes had passed. He looked at Yu Tang Chun, who was still applying the compress to his throat. If he was Fu Cheng, ten minutes would have been too short to diagnose and treat such a fatal illness.

Thinking of this, his nerves, which had been tense for a while, finally relaxed a little. In the end, there was still an eventuality that he hadn’t misjudged Yu Tang Chun.

  pZ2581

In Ward No. 9 of the psychiatric hospital, Jiang Yue Lou was using a stone to draw another mark on the wall. Seven days had passed since Chen Yu Zhi visited him.

Seven days… more than enough time for the mysterious mastermind to arrange for someone to come here. He would probably make his move in the next two days.

Jiang Yue Lou threw away the stone and lay down on the iron single bed which made a “twisting” sound underneath. 0MNjAR

In a daze, he remembered the day Chen Yu Zhi had come to meet him. Chen Yu Zhi’s words… Chen Yu Zhi’s face… Jiang Yue Lou was replaying this moment in his head over and over again.

He suddenly recalled the day he made his plan when Bai Jinbo asked him,

“Do you have to hide it from Chen Yu Zhi?”

At that time, his answer was, “Yes, I have to, but if we can hide it from him, we can hide it from everyone.” D cxZJ

It was precise because Chen Yu Zhi was the person who knew and trusted Jiang Yue Lou the most in this world, so he had to conceal it from him. Even if he had long understood this point, from the moment he was confronted with Chen Yu Zhi’s hurt expression, the pain in Jiang Yue Lou’s heart had been unbearable since then. He clenched his fist and sighed darkly, “That fool, he must have taken it seriously.”

The more he was thinking about it, the less he could control himself, so Jiang Yue Lou simply broke out again, howling in the room, screaming that once he got out, he would make sure to take revenge on everyone who was against him. After all, he was a madman now, and thus he should act as such.

The doctor came when he heard about his tantrum, standing at the door, he ordered him to stop, “No. 9, stop thinking you are still Section Chief Jiang, you are only No. 9 here.”

“I’m Jiang Yue Lou!” roared Jiang Yue Lou as he slammed the door panel. EDFv4q

The doctor sneered, “Here, the important thing is not to remember who you are, but to stay alive. After all, it’s only if you’re still alive that you’ll be able to get out. Don’t you agree, No. 9?”

As he said this, his eyes were fixed on Jiang Yue Lou and when he saw him a little defeated, he opened the door, “Come out, let’s get some fresh air!”

Jiang Yue Lou was taken out to an open space, accompanied by a nurse, for a walk. There were many mental patients in the courtyard, all in a terrible state, and the nurse lost Jiang Yue Lou when she wasn’t paying attention.

He didn’t want to escape. Jiang Yue Lou was chasing after someone. He saw a cleaner in the yard just now, and he knew that face. UC3hcd

He finally caught up with him at the corner of the building, Jiang Yue Lou slowly approached, his eyes fixed on the man, his voice tinged with wariness, “I’ve seen you before.”

The man smiled, “To be precise, it’s this face you’ve seen before.”

The person who came was named Sun Heying, the twin brother of Sun Heming, who was killed by Jiang Yue Lou during the Hong Kong operation.

Sun Heying briefly introduced himself and directly explained his intention: “In five minutes, the release time will be over and your disappearance will be noticed right away. So, let’s not waste time, and let’s talk about our cooperation?” Sp6fvz

Jiang Yue Lou snorted, “I have no intention of cooperating with you.”

Feeling defeated at first, Sun Heying didn’t give up, and tried to persuade him again, “Shouldn’t you listen to the conditions first, before refusing so proudly?”

“There is nothing fancy here, help me to get out before asking me to join you. Anything else? My free time is almost done, and I can’t guarantee that I will listen to you next time. ”

By taking the initiative with only one sentence, Jiang Yue Lou had turned the situation to his advantage. 0uZcKV

Sun Heying didn’t take any more detours and went straight to the point: “The police station has given up on you. You’re an abandoned child, an outcast. No one cares if you die or live. Knowing Section Chief Jiang’s talents, I’m sure you don’t want to spend the rest of your life in this madhouse either. ”

“I have food and drink here, I don’t have to work, and the patients are much more interesting than those colleagues who are always fighting and scheming against each other; it’s quite easy living here, and I’m not feeling wronged,” Jiang Yue Lou said, spreading both hands.

Sun Heying didn’t expect that Jiang Yue Lou would be so difficult to convince, so he could only suppress his emotions and continue to provoke him, “Are you going to let them bully you and humiliate you like this? Don’t you want them to pay for what they did to you and for bringing you here?”

As the words went out, Jiang Yue Lou seemed to be somewhat moved, and Sun Heying immediately took advantage of this little change, “I don’t think there is anything wrong with you taking revenge as you did. If they hit you first, of course, you have the right to retaliate. Let the past die, kill it if you have to. We were talking about what… four miserable lives? It’s not a big deal. ” 4EQKwx

A smile appeared on Jiang Yue Lou’s face, and there was a hint of appreciation in his eyes as he looked at Sun Heying, “From the moment I murdered this family until now, you were the first person to approve of my revenge. This is nice, I like it. I’m delighted too. I’m tired of all the rules and restraints.”

At this moment, a nurse shouted not too far away, “Nine? Nine!”

Someone would be there soon, so Sun Heying had to leave immediately, and could only drop a sentence in a hurry, “I will give you time to make a decision. If you are willing to cooperate, at six o’clock tonight, pretend to be sick and come out, I will take you away.”

Looking at Sun Heying running away, Jiang Yue Lou knew that the first step of his undercover plan was successful. QmTlIO

The guest room on the first floor of the Zhan Residence was simply but generously furnished. Even in this harsh winter, the room was warm and cozy.

A winter plum tree* in the garden could be seen from the window, which had not yet bloomed at this time of year, but the branches had grown strong and in an aesthetic way that couldn’t be overlooked. lxc1V7

Inside the room, all the built-in furniture made from red rosewood trees was exquisitely carved. Throughout the room, the master’s care for the person living in it was evident.

Yu Tang Chun was standing in the middle of the room, looking around, before sighing, walking to the desk, and opening the drawer. A Browning pistol was lying there, a gift from Zhan Junbai, with a single bullet next to the gun.

Zhan Jun Bai had very strict control over the bullets they were using. Even Yu Tang Chun couldn’t get them easily. He only managed to secretly hide this one during their last shooting practice together, while Zhan Jun Bai was being called away by Qiu Ming to talk.

This was his last hope. kKsyZA

Yu Tang Chun took the gun, went directly to the Zhan family residence, and asked to see Zhan Tian Qing as a friend of Zhan Jun Bai. Xiao Si, who had been transferred from the Zhan mansion, had met him on several occasions and knew he was a guest of Zhan Junbai, so he led the person in with respect.

In the hall, Zhan Tian Qing was sitting on the sofa drinking. A woman was snuggled into his arms, smiling and trembling. Yu Tang Chun went in and greeted him with a smile, “Commander Zhan.”

Zhan Tian Qing scoffed at him and then scolded the boy who let him in, “Don’t bring all kinds of cats and dogs * to the residence; I don’t want my eyes to get dirty.”

Xiao Si looked at Yu Tang Chun embarrassedly and tried to ask him to leave. bPXuEN

Yu Tang Chun stepped forward instead, “Commander Zhan, I have some topics regarding Director Zhan that I would like to talk to you about.”

Zhan Tian Qing still ignored him, only talking to Xiao Si, “Get him out.”

The young man was startled and immediately went forward to pull Yu Tang Chun out, but the other person avoided it effortlessly.

Still looking at Zhan Tian Qing, he said with a grin, “Don’t you want to know what Director Zhan said about you in private and what he thinks of you regularly?” ZieL7x

Zhan Tian Qing suddenly seemed a bit interested. He took a look at him and, after a while, pushed away from the woman beside him, and leaned forward, in a posture of willingness to listen to him.

The moment Yu Tang Chun went out to the other house, the news reached Zhan Jun Bai’s ears. He immediately drove to the other residence with a rare hint of anxiety in his expression.

“Tell me what Zhan Jun Bai usually says about me,” Zhan Tian Qing said to Yu Tang Chun in the other residence.

Yu Tang Chun smiled, “It seems that you don’t trust Director Zhan very much, otherwise, you wouldn’t be interested in this issue.” sGCWVf

Zhan Tian Qing leaned on the sofa and sneered, “I don’t trust anyone but myself.”

“Is it because you are worried about the terrible things you have done?” Yu Tang Chun suddenly asked sharply and as he spoke, he pulled out his gun from his pocket and pulled the trigger on Zhan Tian Qing.

But who was Zhan Tian Qing? His title of army commander wasn’t a fake one. He earned it, fighting with real swords and guns. Just as Yu Tang Chun reached for the gun in his pocket, the other person got up alertly, propped himself up on the coffee table, and jumped over to Yu Tang Chun’s side, whose last chance was gone, just like this.

Yu Tang Chun was quickly caught by a guard who rushed through the door and knelt on the ground. p3oclV

Zhan Tian Qing growled at him, “I’ve seen this happen no less than twenty times, no one has ever succeeded. And do you think you could, hum?”

Yu Tang Chun stared at Zhan Tian Qing, with hatred in his eyes, “There is no rest for the wicked*, even if it is not me, others will come.”

Zhan Tian Qing was furious, went up, and slapped him hard twice, “I will collect the interest first.”

Yu Tang Chun was already weak, and when he was slapped so severely, he only heard a rumbling sound in his ears, and immediately blacked out. 7L xJD

“Wake him up”, Zhan Tian Qing ordered, and a guard picked up the teapot on the table and splashed water on Yu Tang Chun’s face.

While he was waking up, Zhan Tian Qing looked at the young man who brought Yu Tang Chun in, and asked, “Why didn’t you search him?”

The young man was scared to death, and his voice was shaking, “Sorry Master, I was negligent…”

He didn’t finish his sentence and a single shot echoed in the room. Xiao Si was shot to death by Zhan Tian Qing and fell into a pool of blood. The other guards didn’t even wince, and took the corpse out very quickly, as they were used to. rTapMl

Yu Tang Chun opened his eyes with difficulty, and saw, in a daze, Zhan Tian Qing loading his pistol and heard the demon asking him, “Why did you want to kill me?”

Hate surged in his heart, Yu Tang Chun immediately came to his senses and glared at the other person, “You killed 16 members of my family, you monster!”

“Only sixteen people. Most of the people who lost more than you haven’t sought revenge on me. ” Zhan Tian Qing was very disdainful, and directly put the gun on Yu Tang Chun’s forehead, “Give me your name and let me know if others will come.”

Yu Tang Chun didn’t fear death; instead, he gritted his teeth and said, “You don’t deserve to know my name. You’ll get what you deserve, and my Fu family is waiting for you underground!” vie3A7

“Are you talking about the Fu family of Zheng Bai banner*? Was your father named Fu Rong?”

If so, that would be interesting. Zhan Tian Qing put away the gun and asked with interest.

Yu Tang Chun sneered and stared at Zhan Tian Qing, “You are not worthy of mentioning my father’s name.”

After confirming his identity, Zhan Tian Qing put down his gun and laughed, “Although I have a lot of blood on my hands, your Fu family, I didn’t kill them.” 1e4JPT

Yu Tang Chun refused to believe him, struggling with the urge to rush up and tear him apart, he shouted, “Don’t deny it! I saw it! That emerald watch! It’s the proof!”

“I gave that watch to Jun Bai in January of that year. It was autumn when your house was destroyed. ”

Zhan Tian Qing was looking at Yu Tang Chun with a little pity in his eyes, but his tone was still cold when he pronounced the cruelest words, “The person who destroyed your family, by a strange twist of fate, is the same person who gave you this pistol——Zhan Jun Bai.”

This news shattered Yu Tang Chun’s heart like a thunderbolt, causing his entire body to freeze and his blood to stop circulating. WJeo2

Just then, Zhan Jun Bai arrived.

Yu Tang Chun stared at Zhan Jun Bai with a deadly gaze. He couldn’t believe that the friend who had a place in his heart was the enemy who murdered his entire family.

Who was this man exactly? Was he a respectable gentleman or a cold-blooded murderous demon?

Zhan Jun Bai walked in hastily, saw Yu Tang Chun slumped on the ground, and then, seeing the resentment gushing out of his eyes, he immediately understood everything, he quickly steadied his mind, only letting out a slight sigh, “You are Fu Cheng.” F9aIRP

Yu Tang Chun laughed in anger, “I never expected it would be you.”

The gun in Zhan Tian Qing’s hand was thrown to Zhan Jun Bai, “You gave it to him, didn’t you? That a royal family member and a descendant of feudal aristocrats would change his name and his surname and even become an actor so that he could get revenge by himself. And some are so kind that they even give him a gun. Why didn’t you just give him your life?! You almost made me a substitute for your death. I don’t know, but for a moment, I thought you deliberately blamed me.”

Zhan Jun Bai didn’t dare to argue, lowered his head and, looking at the gun in his hand, replied in a low voice, “Second Uncle must be joking, it was just an accident.”

“Then you should personally handle this accident,” Zhan Tian Qing asked, his gaze shifting from one to the other. 3HIRz4

Zhan Jun Bai suddenly raised his head and pointed his gun at Yu Tang Chun. The latter, at this time, didn’t want to speak anymore, his face was full of despair, and he was completely dead inside.

For a long time, nothing happened. Zhan Tian Qing looked askance at Zhan Jun Bai, “Why? Are you reluctant?”

Zhan Jun Bai shook his head, “Of course not. I just think it’s too easy for him to die like this.”

After speaking, Zhan Jun Bai fired in Yu Tang Chun’s arm. There was originally a wound there, the one when Yu Tang Chun blocked a knife for him. Once the shot was fired, blood immediately gushed out, but Yu Tang Chun didn’t show any sign of pain. He just slightly opened his mouth, gasping for breath instinctively. q2Syct

“Qiu Ming, take the man back, stop the bleeding and lock him up in the basement.”

After Zhan Jun Bai gave the order, he asked Zhan Tian Qing for instructions, “Second Uncle, leave it to me, let me torture him slowly, and I will let you deal with him once I completely break him. What do you think?”

Zhan Tian Qing waved his hand, “Do as you want, I just want to warn you, don’t let an opera singer ruin a big event.”

“Second Uncle should rest assured, there will never be any next time,” Zhan Jun Bai said as he bowed his head. 5jyfct

Yu Tang Chun was dragged away by Qiu Ming. Looking at the blood on the ground, Zhan Jun Bai’s eyes gradually darkened. In the end, the Heavens didn’t offer him his “eventuality”.

Translator's Note

Chinese idiom meaning be prepared to risk ten thousand, better to be safe than sorry; to be prepared just in case.

Translator's Note

Here the tree mentioned is a Wintersweet tree also called Chimonanthus praecox, a tree native to China which produces yellow flowers during winter.TN: It is said that the plum blossom is symbol for resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity during the harsh winter. Beautiful and sad metaphor isn’t it, that this tree didn’t bloom yet when we know what it’s about to happen to Yu Tang Chun…

Èrén zì yǒu è bào (恶人自有恶报): Chinese idiom which can also be translated as those who do evil will eventually get punished.

Zhèng Bái Qí (正白旗): or the Plain White Banner was one of the Eight Banners of Manchu military and society during the Later Jin and Qing dynasty of China. It was one of the three “upper” banners (Plain Yellow Banner, Bordered Yellow Banner, and Plain White Banner) directly controlled by the emperor, as opposed to the other five “lower” banners (Source Wikipedia).

  1. I can’t feel sorry for ZJB XD I really try, but even in this situation, instead of regretting his actions because he was responsible of the death of Boss Yu’s family, he just thinks about himself, hoping that he is not Fu Cheng. I think he deserves it.

I know that maybe life hasn’t been easy on him, but you can tell that he likes doing bad things, otherwise he would have thought twice before doing something that could harm his so called “friend”.

However, I think ZJB is a good evil character u.u

Thank you for the chapter 😊
