How Could I Lose To HimCh2 - Manic Disorder

*Disclaimer: The topic of Manic Depression would be touched upon here, but not in an unkind way. Or at least, that’s what I believe so. Please keep that in mind.*

The atmosphere was a little awkward, and Da Shixiong could only help mediate, “Why don’t you… Shake hands and make peace?”
Sui Houyu shook his wrists and stepped back, replying indifferently, “I don’t want to shake hands.”
“Then my brothers would apologize to you.”
“No need to,” Sui Houyu finally looked at Da Shixiong and smiled slyly. “I was just bored and sought them out to find relief.”

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

The smile just looked too perfect that Da Shixiong raised an eyebrow.

When Sui Houyu was done, he walked out of the alley.
Night had fallen. As Sui Houyu walked out of the dark alley and into the brightly lit streets, the different colored lights of the billboards and stores surrounded him, the contrast of the lights and shadows dazzling the eyes of anyone who saw him.
The fluffy hair, slender neck, slim figure, and two long legs were particularly eye-catching.
The figure from behind was amazing enough.
If one thought about that face again, one would think it would look hideous when in a fight. Unexpectedly… it looked good. RmfbYe

Da Shixiong watched Sui Houyu leave until his form disappeared from the alley, then looked back to his friends, “Can you stop picking up girls in this clumsy way?”
Unconvinced, the hero brother rubbed the places in his body that hurt and replied, “We are constantly surrounded by brothers and not even one sister. It doesn’t do much for our morale.”

Having heard that, the corners of Da Shixiong’s mouth lifted into a smile, “And what's wrong with brothers? If push comes to shove we can slice open pork buns and rub skewers with each other. What could be more romantic and unique?
After hearing this, the little brother’s eyes rolled in anger, “Slice pork buns and rub skewers? Will we do the same until we are old?”
Da Shixiong pursed his lips and didn’t answer. He suddenly felt nauseated with the topic.

He took another look at his friends. It looked like they were beaten hard but none of the wounds looked serious. It seemed like Sui Houyu knew how far he was allowed to when he fought with them.
They were all simple flesh wounds and wouldn’t make one lose face.
Da Shixiong brought them outside and thoughtlessly asked, “Have you eaten?”
“No,”

The three went to a nearby restaurant. Inside, they were greeted by the shop owner’s wife. “Yo, Hou Mo you’re here?”
Then she saw the people behind him and continued, “Xiao Deng and Xiao Shen are also here. Was it that time of the year again? Why is it still the three of you?”
The three replied casually and saw that the guest to who the landlady handed a menu was Sui Houyu.
Sui Houyu also glanced at them, before looking back down at the menu.

Enemies truly are bound to meet on a narrow road.

Sui Houyu looked through the menu and ordered several dishes.
The landlady wrote it down and asked, “How many people are joining you?”
“Only me.”
“Our servings are huge and can’t be finished by a single person. Three dishes should be enough.”

“It’ll be fine, I would have them all.” Sui Houyu replied and returned the menu to the landlady, before leaning back on the chair and playing with his phone.

Ran Shu was a stammer, the most irritating kind.
If one stammered in the middle of a sentence, you can already guess what they meant to say and wouldn’t need to have the sentence finished. Stuttering in the beginning really tested one’s patience. You would need to listen to a long prelude every time. BKl7VN

Sui Houyu sent a voice message in return, “Could you send me a text next time?”
There was a quick reply, “You-you-you fucking dislike me, don’t you? Type-typing is hard.”
“It’s hard for me to listen to you.”
Then Sui Houyu received a 57-second long voice message. As he stared at the long line, he didn’t want to bother with it and directly placed his phone on the table.

Although Hou Mo and company came in later, their order was served first due to how simple it was.
The landlady was an aunt in her fifties with a loud voice and enthusiastic personality. She informed, “I just picked the vegetables from my backyard and I don’t spray pesticide so it is safe. But you shouldn’t eat so plainly, your bodies are still growing so how can you eat so little?”
What she meant as plain were the noodles in clear soup, steamed bread, and eggs that the three ordered.
There was nothing else.

The three were eating quite pitifully. Meanwhile, not far away from them, they saw Sui Houyu’s order arrive.
Sui Houyu had ordered six dishes and three bowls of rice, then proceeded to eat.
The landlady was very busy. She paused for a while and stood aside watching Sui Houyu eat with interest.
Watching him seemed like watching a mukbang video. A person who looked thin without a trace of fat could eat so much, and one could only wonder where it all went.

Hou Mo started at the clear soup and water in front of him, and then looked at Sui Houyu’s big fish and meat. His heart suddenly became a little sourer.
However, the feeling soon disappeared. The main reason was that he felt spiritually satisfied as if he was full.
Was this what made watching mukbang videos so fun? iQWHeG

Deng Yiheng, who was the little hero brother, also stared and couldn’t help but mutter, “That guy is too good at pretending. Could he really eat that much?”
Shen Junjing, the little hoodlum brother, whispered, “That’s not something you can lie about. If I wasn’t fasting, I could eat more than him.”

After Sui Houyu paid the bill, the landlady came over to their table and sighed to Hou Mo, “The little girl is really pretty and tall, but she eats too much.”
The three men looked at the landlady complicatedly.

Finally, Hou Mo informed her, “Auntie, that’s a boy.”
The landlady was shocked and asked, “How could that boy be so handsome? More than you.”
Hou Mo didn’t like that and replied, “You got bought by only six dishes? Don’t you think my face is more masculine?”
The landlady laughed out loud, “That’s right, our Hou Mo is the most handsome.”

Hou Mo dared to say so because, on one hand, he was shameless, and on the other, because he really looked good.
Hou Mo had been different from the others since childhood.
In this area where most people had a yellowish-white complexion, Hou Mo’s was a rare pale one that was a degree whiter than the normal one. It just seemed like he was born with less melanin, and even his hair, eyebrows, and pupils were not black but a flaxen brown. byUczB

With short and fluffy flaxen hair and light-colored eyes, he looked like a cat. When people looked at him, his gaze seemed like it was floaty and dreamy, like he wasn’t paying attention to anything.
He seemed to be always smiling, but there was no sparkle in his eyes. It only looked that way because of how his eyes looked.
In addition, he has sharp features, a tall nose accompanied by deep-set eyes, and his face had curves all around and wasn’t flat. He was often asked if he was a minority or mixed race when in fact, he really wasn’t any of such. For three generations his grandparents and their children have been genuine northeast people.

Hou Mo and the others walked out of the restaurant and sat on a table nearby and people watched as they let their bodies digest the food.
The cool night wind carried the fragrance of the flowers and other plants. Living in this place which was like a paradise was pure bliss.
Although the peace was shattered when Hou Mo received a video call from the coach.
After taking a deep breath, he accepted the call and heard the coach yell, “I’m looking at your activity tracker! If you don’t want to run in the day because the sun is hot, then run at night! You can’t fall behind in training even if it’s the summer vacation!”

Hou Mo remained obedient and cleverly gestured an “Ok” to the camera, “Okay, okay.”
“Don’t try to fool me by having only one person run it. Each of you should run separately as I want to see a difference in your runs. After you get home, upload the results on the app and I will check it!”
Hou Mo cleared his throat and smiled in reply, “Okay,”
After the video call was hung up, all three people wailed together. It was definitely embarrassing being a sports student attending an online class.

Hou Mo and the others walked towards the sports field.
This was the largest stadium near them. The middle field was originally a football field, but instead it was used for square dancing all year round.
Although the running track was not properly cared for and neglected, it was still a good place to run laps.
As the three were warming up, they saw a familiar figure run pass them. It was Sui Houyu. ax8Qlk

The three men looked at each other.
Deng Yiheng could help but ask, “What is wrong with that guy? Why is he running just after eating? Is he not afraid of getting gastroptosis? Aren’t you supposed to do the opposite after eating that much?”
Shen Junjing shook his head and muttered, “I believe it will take him 20 minutes to walk towards here. If he’s not familiar with the place, it will take him another 40 minutes so I believe he had just arrived.”

Deng Yiheng nodded, “Yeah, he was holding onto a suitcase earlier. I guess he had just arrived.”
Shen Junjing: “Is he also a sports student?”
Deng Yiheng remembered the other’s ruthlessness as he beat up people and agreed, “Maybe he practiced Sanda. It doesn’t make sense for him to be that skinny but can fight that well.”

Hou Mo ran towards the track after finishing his warm-ups and followed Sui Houyu, although there was a noticeable distance between them.
None of them stopped nor tried to surpass each other, and just like that they ran ten laps together.

Sui Houyu had returned to his apartment but suddenly became uncomfortable due to boredom.
He played games on his phone for a while but then lost interest so he got up and cleaned up the room.
Although the apartment was expensive, it has its advantages. For example, Bath essentials and toilet paper were provided for by the landlord. As Sui Houyu would be staying for a long time, he was given a new set.
The utilities were also going to be paid for by the landlord.

In addition, cleaning personnel would come every day so he didn’t need to clean at all.
But he needed to be busy.

After cleaning, Sui Houyu placed his hands on his waist and looked around the room. It seemed like there was nothing else to do.
He forced himself to sit down on the sofa and chewed on two pieces of gum. His hands were placed on top of his legs but the palms kept on clenching restlessly.
Finally, he couldn’t help himself and run out of the door and down the stairs.

The strange environment made him feel uneasy.
His restlessness made him even more anxious.
He wanted to release his frustrations but couldn’t think of a better way to do that. rmpenU

The soundproofing on the building was not good. His neighbors were alerted with him running back and forth like this.
Opposite the stairs, one of the doors opened. Through the small crack, the man happened to see Sui Houyu going up.
It was Hou Mo.

Both of them were surprised when their eyes met. A moment later, Hou Mo laughed and asked, “Why are you doing that?”
“My treadmill will only arrive tomorrow.” Sui Houyu replied and then went up again.
Hou Mo opened the door a little wider and leaned out to only see AJ sneakers disappear up the stairs, so he returned inside the apartment and explained to his mother, “Someone was running.”
Mama Hou smiled gently and told him, “Alright, then I’ll go rest now and you better sleep early.”

Hou Mo helped his mother into her room and then went to his.
He turned on the computer and stared at the screen for a moment, hesitating, before finally entering a few words on the search box: ADHD
He had seen how Sui Houyu fought and ate with him. He noticed that although Sui Houyu seemed calm, he has made some little anxious movements that made Hou Mo curious.
After comparing it with the description that loaded up, he thought that Sui Houyu does not have ADHD.

Then he saw a keyword from the relevant search entries: Manic Disorder.
He stared at it then searched it on Baidu Encyclopedia: Feeling bouts of euphoria. For example, one might feel that his psychological condition was particularly good, or feel that his body was particularly healthy, or feeling an abundance of energy. One might also get less sleep but won’t feel fatigued, suddenly become hyperactive, would seek reckless adventures, or have heightened sexual desires. I6eYw0

Hou Mo stared at the page, subconsciously touched his chin, and couldn’t help from sighing, “Good physical strength and strong desire. It’s a perfect match.”

[There are indeed Chinese people with naturally light-colored hair and pupils. There are examples in reality, but it is rare. They do not lack nutrition so there’s nothing to worry about. Chinese people occasionally also have red hair, and they aren’t necessarily “mixed-raced” because even since ancient times a few people have it. Even the “Red-Haired Ghost” In Liu Tang from “Water Margin” got his nickname because of his red hair.]

[Author was explaining here how the names of the protagonists were too similar and expanding on it but I’m too lazy to translate it because it’s too long and too many explanations of Chinese characters. It’s to advance for my fledging Chinese knowledge and I don’t wish to translate anything wrong so sorry hahaha!]

Nell’s Corner: YVfI6d

Sorry for the delay. I got promoted at work! It was so sudden and that’s why for the past week I’ve been busy with trainings and transfers but now I have settled down somewhat so regular weekly updates would return.

Thanks for patiently waiting!

Translator's Note

This part is a pun that I’m having a hard time expressing well. This is the best that I can make do, I’m sorry… This is the original: “兄弟多有什么不好的? 实在不行自给自足,以后约会的内容是和对象一起去割包|皮,之后一起去撸串,多浪漫多特别? ”

From Wikipedia: In the People’s Republic of China, square dancing or plaza dancing, is an exercise routine performed to music in squares, plazas, or parts of the nation’s cities. It is popular with middle-aged and retired women who have been referred to as “dancing grannies” in the English-language media.

  1. thank you for the chapters~ and congrats for the promotion~ 🥳

btw, idk whether it’s the original author way of writing or it’s your translation doing, it’s very easy to read and enjoy. it’s like an original novel instead of a translation.

1 thing that i like from this website is, majority of the translators are doing great job at translating and making the novel fun to read. but so far yours are one of the most enjoyable and i see on your signature that you’re legit rookie? doesn’t looks like one for me ☺️

again, thank you for the translation, i hope you have enough time to translate this story regularly coz i’m so curious with the plot 🤭

    • Thanks so much for the praise! Tbh I’ve been translating for a year already so I don’t think I could still be considered as a rookie but I certainly do feel like I still am bcs 75% of the time I don’t know what I’m doing lmao.

As for the novel, I can’t really comment on anything about the author’s writing style bcs this is pure mtl and all I read is a mangled set of words that I try to coherently piece into a sentence. So honestly most of my translations are just my revisions rather than a direct translation, hence the warning lmao.

And don’t worry, I will see this novel through the end and will find time bcs the main reason why I am translating this is bcs I wanted to read it too hahaha! (And also as a stress reliever but eh, details~) I’m reading this as I translate so yeah, definitely look forward to weekly (or early, depends) updates.

I’m glad you’re enjoying this novel so far!

(sorry for the long reply lmao this is why I tend not to reply to the comments though I appreciate them so much bcs I tend to ramble lmao)
