The Ghost King's KeeperCh99 - Mo’Ze, the Guard

Amazing?

Ruzen was pretty sure he would call it formidable. And if he had a choice, he would call it heaven defying. ‘Who all would you be able to control like this my king?’ Ruzen couldn’t ask verbally since the body wasn’t in his command, but he could certainly ask in his mind. Generally, it was how such things worked.  FlBdUP

“We can control anyone below our ranks and strength, the lower the rank the more the number of possessions.” Ruzen heard his own mouth opening to say this, very smooth and crisp, like it wasn’t difficult to possess someone and start speaking through their mouths. It was also a very unique feeling to find oneself saying things one didn’t even think of saying. It gave off a vibe of possession for sure but it felt more like Ruzen was the one doing the possession and not the King.

Ruzen felt very astonished, he knew his partner was a ghost but this was the second thing that wasn’t surprising yet very surprising. All this development really was a solid indication of how different his king was. ‘Is there anything else my king can do and I don’t know about it? Can you even curse living beings? Or like take away their luck?’

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

“We cannot curse or take away the luck,” the King explained, “cursing someone is something only a cursed one can do, and providing luck or snatching away the luck is something only a God or Deity can tackle. Ghosts can only manage to physically harm or protect their charge, reason why many beings try to express gratitude for high-ranking ghosts. Our Summoners in the council are similarly high rank Ghosts.”

‘I understand, so when you possess me, do you have to always take charge like this?’  1GjuXD

Ruzen found himself shaking his head, “We can take charge like now or just settle back and reside within someone for a certain time period. But long period of possession can harm the vessel, and it becomes more difficult to hide Ourself since Our presence is too strong. Possession is only useful for quick silent attacks and information gathering.”

‘Can you erase the memory of those who you possess?’

“No, We cannot. But if the vessel is asleep and We take over, then there is a chance that the vessel may not remember what happened when they were asleep.”

Ruzen thought internally that this possession method was a good choice for night time, when everyone was asleep, nobody would notice many changes in themself. However, this method was only good for humans or cursed ones, Ruzen didn’t believe that Gods and Deities would be this easy to possess.

Ruzen didn’t feel anything slipping away when the Ghost King morphed in front of him again, and he found himself taking back the control that was lost before. It was so smooth and without any tricks that regular humans would certainly not even feel it if they were possessed. Unless they were aware of certain actions that was forced upon them.

“This was very interesting,” Ruzen spoke with wide eyes, and the King hummed, his expression not expressing any pride. Maybe he was used to his own prowess and didn’t give them much importance, but Ruzen felt his King was very strong.

“This is something every Ghost can do, but there is a limit to their abilities,” Mozen said, “reason why there are also different tricks in this world which can resist Ghosts.”

Ruzen frowned, “That might be… but you are very powerful, I think you can resist being caught or being bothered by those tricks.”  mzcglM

“That is true.”

“Then,” Ruzen said with a smile, getting hold of the King’s hand, “will you follow me around outside? Like my personal body guard?”

Ruzen was just teasing, but the King seriously nodded to it, “We can, which form do you prefer?”

Although Ruzen hadn’t thought seriously about it, he felt it would be good if the King’s true form didn’t follow him around to a casual market place, everyone would be too frightened or shocked to really carry on with their business. Although nobody really knew what the King looked like, Ruzen believed it would be best to hide the identity of the King. “I believe you can take the form of a kid, and maybe change your features a little bit?”  OIWZ08

“A child? We see.”

The King then morphed forms right in front of Ruzen, and Ruzen clearly saw the flickering after images of black shadows and lingering blue lights.

What now stood in front of Ruzen was a small child of 6 or 8 years old, with short shoulder length black hair, a darker but more cheerful set of blue eyes, a face with soft features and small lips. It was a beautiful young boy, and he came up to Ruzen’s waist. He was wearing a cute little set of shorts and shirt, with a pair of small sandals with short straps. Anyone who will see him would think he was really a young human child of Manjo.

Ruzen felt the urge to pat his head, but he was still aware of certain boundaries. Even if the child was very young and obedient looking, he was still the King, and wouldn’t touching his head seem really rude? So, Ruzen didn’t do anything except for praising his king.  sFcDpI

Holding the small hand of the child, Ruzen walked out of their shared hall, “My King, won’t the people think it strange if I carry around a small child with me?” Ruzen hadn’t felt it was strange before, but once he got out of the private area, everyone would know who he was, so would carrying around a child be stranger than being followed by a young man who could pass off as a guard? “Maybe you can become a guard…” but Ruzen found it even stranger to really force the King to do it. It won’t suit his status, being a Kid was better.

Ruzen was still thinking of how to go through it when the kid next to him changed shape and size, the little hand he was holding before suddenly turned bigger than his own. Ruzen was slightly startled when he saw a young charming man walking next to him. His eyes were a deep black, with stronger jaw line and a bulkier form, he was tall and sturdy, with short black hair and a charming smile.

Ruzen felt strange to relate this huge puppy to his formidable king. For once he found himself stumbling to get used to it. “…my king?” He hesitated, “I think we cannot be seen holding hands where others are watching. You look too different to be recognized.”

The charming man beamed, “Yes, Keeper. Rest assured; you can call me Mo’Ze.” Then the man let go of Ruzen’s hand, stepping away a bit like a dutiful guard. He wore black inner robes and blue outer robe, with a long sword hanging by his waist. He looked like a human practitioner who was working under the King, assigned to protect Ruzen.  uPE3rS

Very awesome.

Ruzen was still not used to seeing such a different face behaving exactly like a human. If his King really kept behaving like this, then Ruzen would really start believing that this Mo’Ze was a separate living being.

“My King is really not like himself in this form.”

“Isn’t it better this way Keeper?” Mo’Ze asked with a grin, he was radiating with life and charisma even when he spoke, “Or if I am making you uncomfortable, please let me know. Your majesty will take care of it.”  2U7WEX

Ruzen smiled at the charming man, “No need, this is better, or else I might do something in public which would make others believe I am flirting with an outsider, who knows what sort of rumors they would brew.”

Mo’Ze laughed out loud at that, very natural and very real, “You don’t need to be so cautious, Keeper, his majesty doesn’t mind you being careless around me.”

Ruzen snorted internally, no thanks. Ruzen liked his King in his natural form more than some fabricated Mo’Ze, it would really be uncomfortable to flirt around with fabrications.

“I am glad Mo’Ze is coming with me, I feel good and safe like this,” Ruzen told his King, and he wasn’t lying, he really felt that he had a certain degree of freedom to do anything now, his King would be on the lookout so Ruzen could relax a little. “I just hope you won’t find it too troubling; I won’t always ask you to be around me, this is just for now.”    3RUpco

“I understand, Keeper doesn’t need to think too much.”

When they both came out of the private courtyard, they met several guards who were guarding the area. They all saluted Mo’Ze and Ruzen, keeping their eyes to themselves, very solemn and very careful.

Ruzen just nodded his head at them and Mo’Ze saluted them which justified his role. The guards didn’t find any problem with him, and one of them even returned the salute, calling him senior.

It was somewhat funny.  epyx8U

When they finally came out of the area, they saw more guards around the outer courtyard, but beyond the entryway, there was a bustling crowd of people. Ruzen took a deep breath, looking down at his blue robe to awkwardly dust off invisible dirt. A bit nervous again to face so many people, yet equally excited, he peeked at Mo’Ze, who glanced back at him, his expression becoming serious as he nodded at Ruzen in encouragement.

Glad to have seen some sign from the King, Ruzen shed away all his inner thoughts and stepped out of the entryway of the outer courtyard.
